Transforming the ice-slicked streets of one of the Nordic capitals into the scene of some Sherlock-tier, serial killing mystery, Blood on the Ice encouraged us to lay down our swords – if only for a minute – and chase footprints, bloodstains, and rumours in our hunt for Windhelm’s cannibal killer.

Definitely one of the game’s darker moments. Blood on the Ice gets bonus points for being such a twisty escape from Skyrim’s usual adventuring shenanigans.

The City of Windhelm is given a much more sinister edge at night, when you know that there’s a cannibal killer prowling the streets.

Windhelm’s serial killer has already claimed 3 lives by the time you hit his trail.
