Why Jujutsu Kaisen Is Popular: 10 Reasons Fans Love It

The Boys and Sukuna (he's a different breed, so yeah)

As a high school student, Yuji Itadori's life is no different than any other kids’, but he possesses incredible strength.

One day, he eats the finger of Sukuna, absorbing the curse into his soul so that he might help a buddy who is being assaulted by cursed spirits. From that point on, the King of Curses and he will share a single body.

With the help of the most powerful jujutsu sorcerer, Satoru Gojo, Yuji gets accepted into the Tokyo Jujutsu High School of Sorcery. This organization specializes in this kind of voodoo stuff. The moment Yuji steps into the school, he knows that no matter what, there is no turning back.

He is now a curse battling against curses. Quite… interesting.

Let's move on to the top ten reasons for getting everyone bewitched with Jujutsu Kaisen.

10. Yuji Is Different From Other Protagonists

One of the most appreciable things about Jujutsu Kaisen is the portrayal of its hero. Yuji Itadori isn't your typical, sad protagonist who turns into some dark individual after his grandpa's death. Instead, to honor his death, Itadori decided to save every person he could and positively change this world.

He wasn't driven by revenge or hatred. In fact, his approach was incredibly positive, and this is what gives this anime a different angle.

9. You Cannot Help But Adore Goju Saturo

"There lived a certain man in Russia long ago

He was big and strong, and, in his eye, a flaming glow

Most people look at him with terror and with fear

But to Moscow chicks, he was such a lovely dear."

I think Boney M was talking about Goju Saturo in the song Rasputin, especially, in these lyrics. Goju Saturo is a confident man who knows he is the best in the world regarding curses. He knows what he is doing, and he proves himself over and over again throughout season 1.

Although Goju vs. Sukuna in episode 1 was impressive enough for me to fall in love with him, his fight with Jogo is phenomenal. The latter is a particular grade curse, and he is a challenging competitor, but Gojo shows him who is the real boss here.

His quirky yet charming personality with a ton of confidence makes him stand out.

8. Curses & Magic Tricks Are Always Interesting

Magic and curses are indeed quite intriguing. Instead of using weapons to wage war, curses add a more personal touch.

In Jujutsu Kaisen, we encounter different spells and magic tricks that allow our imagination to run wild. Cursed Energy is similar to its predecessors in enabling individuals who study jujutsu to build complex cursed techniques. Because of these cursed methods, the conflicts in Jujutsu Kaisen are highly sophisticated and strategic. '

And we're all in for such kinds of battles!

7. The Light & Relatable Humor Is To Die For

If you're looking for anime that will leave you laughing for quite some time, JJK is the one for you. Even though there aren't a lot of humorous scenes in season 1, the ones we do come across are hilarious.

My personal favorite has to be the one from Gojo vs. Jogo. In this scene, Jogo is incredibly bewildered because his curses do not affect Saturo. Eventually, he realizes that his attacks are not even touching Saturo.

To clear his confusion, Gojo asks Jogo to come over and touch his hand. The scene sounds quite simple, but the way Saturo invited Jogo over is amusing. He becomes this cute guy, and his manly hands turn into the ones of a kid - it's hilarious!

6. Let's Not Forget Our Girl; Nobara

The anime genre has strong male characters but only some effective female heroines. Jujutsu Kaisen may only partially break this tradition. Still, it deserves much credit for elevating Nobara Kugisaki to the level of Yuji and Megumi.

Iconic anime shows such as Naruto and TokyoGhoul offer strong female characters. Yet, they quickly lag behind their male counterparts and fade into oblivion. Nobara advances with Yuji and Megumi, making her a significant component in every conflict she participates in.

Go get them, Nobara!

5. A Perfect Balance Between Light And Dark Themes

Jujutsu Kaisen is well-known for its flawless mix of bright and gloomy themes. The program contains comedic and lighter moments but delves into heavier subjects like death, grief, and the consequences of one's choices.

This balance helps the program appeal to a diverse audience while keeping the tale intriguing.

4. The Story Keeps You Hooked

The tale of Jujutsu Kaisen is full of unexpected twists and turns, making it impossible to predict what will happen next.

The show keeps you interested by gradually disclosing new details about the individuals and the universe in which they exist. And it does this by keeping the story fast-paced, relevant, and free of fillers.

As the plot continues, the stakes rise, and the tensions intensify, making it difficult to turn away!

3. 10/10 Fight Scenes

Jujutsu Kaisen is also well-known for its spectacular battle sequences. Each combat is masterfully coordinated, with the characters employing distinct powers and techniques.

Whether it is Sukuna vs. Megumi, Gojo vs. Jogo, or Nanami vs. Mahito, every fight scene is an absolute delight. The show employs a combination of hand-to-hand fighting and supernatural abilities to generate intense action sequences that keep you on the edge of your seat.

2. Yuji & Sukuna's Combo Is Out of This World!

The combined strikes between the main character, Yuji Itadori, and the cursed spirit Sukuna who lives within him, are one of the most remarkable features of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Yuji acquires enormous strength and speed when he taps into Sukuna's power, which he uses in conjunction with his abilities to deliver deadly assaults. Yuji and Sukuna's chemistry provides some of the show's most remarkable and unforgettable scenes.

For me, the best part must be the seamless transition between the two distinct personalities - in a moment, the cute Itadori transforms into a vile Sukuna. How fascinating!

1. It's Got Ryomen Sukuna

"You Dare Attempt to Touch My Soul? We Shared a Laugh At The Brat's Expense, So I'll Forgive You Just This One Time. Know Your Place Fool.” - Ryomen Sukuna.

Our only sass king with a lot of badassery.

Ryomen Sukuna is one of the manga's most well-written and unforgettable characters. His will to live despite being trapped in his fingers, quick wit and stunning actions are incredible!

We are all drawn to powerful and arrogant individuals, and he is everyone's favorite. Often, villains are supposed to be charming. Still, Sukuna's appeal is unlike any other, probably because he knows he is unbeatable and his powers are unmatched.

Therefore, at least, he is the best villain in the anime world.

Conclusion

Jujutsu Kaisen took the anime world by storm in October 2022, leaving everyone wanting more. As for myself, I was hooked on this mind-blowing anime from the first episode! And trust me, I don't get addicted quickly. Even AoT took four episodes to make me go crazy over it.

Anyway, I hope this article was enough to understand the immense popularity and huge fan following behind this anime. And with the announcement for the second season in 2023, we definitely can't wait anymore.
