Why Hogwarts Legacy Is Hated On: 5 Reasons Players Think It's Bad

Hogwarts Legacy is a new action role-playing video game developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The game is set in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and is was released in 2023. However, the game has faced criticism and controversy for various reasons, including:

5 - Giving JK Rowling more money

J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series, has come under fire for making transphobic remarks. As a result, many fans have decided to stop buying her books. Concerns have been raised due to the game's affiliation with Rowling and her opinions.

Although purchasing Harry Potter merchandise would increase the creator's wealth, many individuals are in favor of not doing so. And some claim that because she already has a lot of money—she was once, if I'm not mistaken, the richest lady in the UK—purchasing or not buying HP items wouldn't make a difference. Because I'm petty like that, I just buy items from a third party and agree with both sides.

4 - The first transgender woman character in the Harry Potter Universe has a name that sounds masculine

Okay, it's possible to make a smart decision by including a trans character in a game that has generated a lot of controversy because the universe's creator is transphobic, but only if your heart is in the right place. So far, so good. The character's name, Sirona Ryan, refers to a Celtic Goddess. Her emblem, though, features a snake and eggs. As you are aware, many consider it to be a male quality. Putting that aside, Sirona Ryan When a person's name is long, many people will give it a nickname, and others have mentioned that she can go by Sir.

So yeah I know some people have a tendency to go far with theories but, if you're going to create a trans character, the basics you can do it is to make sure there are no masculine connotations to the name.

3 - The graphics are outdated

The game's development has reportedly involved crunch culture, where developers are required to work long hours to meet tight deadlines, leading to concerns about workplace ethics. Which you know, may lead you to leave some details out and freak out because of your poor work conditions.

But I honestly think the graphics are pretty good. They could be better? Of course. But I compare every graphics to The Last of Us Part II graphics so I hold a very high standard. For some people the graphics are great but for others they were expecting more, it happens with every game, all you can do is enjoy what you have. Unless it is a 360 graphic, then ask your money back.

2 - The gameplay experience is not unique

Some critics have expressed concern that the game's gameplay mechanics may be repetitive and predictable, which could result in a lack of innovation and interest in the game. The game's announcement trailer showed only white characters, which raised concerns about the game's lack of diversity and representation.

Honestly I, as a latina but also white person, am not qualified to say if a game had enough black characters or not, but for my gameplay it did have a black best friend. Should we be concerned about the black best friend and white protagonist topic? Sure. But it is a game where you can molde your character with whatever color you want. Now furthering more into the gameplay, you think that if you pick one of those three fancy answers they give you it is going to have consequences and change the way of the game. Not really. It is all the same. Sure sometimes it's different because you picked another house and did something in a different order but on general everyone had the same experience.

1 - The lore keeps changing

The lore is suppose to be only one and you have to go through the entire game to know the ending, plot twists happen a lot because that's a way to keep you engaged, but honestly sometimes so many things happen that you are not even sure if this is suppose to be in the game or you accidently eat some weed brownies.

And for people who have a short attention span, like myself, good look because you'll definitely forget something that happened and get confused and wonder what the hell are you doing and why this gnome has devil eyes. But in general yeah it is a pretty good game if you want to solve a lot of problems at the same time and lose yourself and your sanity in the meanwhile.
