Until Dawn is a horror game developed by Supermassive and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It is heavily influenced by past games like Heavy Rain, Resident Evil, and Silent Hill... Until Dawn is best known for its branching narrative and decision-making mechanics, which influence the game's ending heavily. Throughout the game, you will play as many characters as possible and make life-changing decisions that could lead to the demise or fortune of your character. Your mission? Survive Until Dawn. 

1. Start of the Game

The Prank

The game starts with friends staying at a cabin up in Blackwood Mountain. A cruel prank causes Hannah Washington to run outside into the woods in the middle of a snowstorm. Her twin sister Beth runs to find her and get her to safety again, but they soon find themselves being followed by a stranger with a flamethrower.

While trying to run away from the stranger, they find themselves cornered on a cliff, resulting in falling off the edge. The police found no bodies or evidence of the sisters' survival.  , and soon, they were declared missing.  

2. 1 Year Later

A year after the sisters' disappearance, their brother Josh invites his friends from the previous trip back to the lodge for the 1st anniversary: Sam, Hannah’s friend. Chris is Josh’s friend, and Ashley is Chris's love interest. The new couple, Emily and Matt. And finally, Hannah's crush, Mike, and his new girlfriend, Jessica. 

Despite the tensions that the group of friends suffered after the disappearance, they all agreed to return to the lodge. As the night progresses, each friend will go through their journey on the mountain. 
 

3. The Night Begins 

The Scare

The first couple that we follow through their journey is Mike and Jessica, who find themselves walking through the forest trying to get to a guest cabin, where Jessica gets abducted by a mysterious figure. Mike, trying to save her, follows her to an abandoned sanatorium. Mike will either find her dead or alive on an elevator, but either way, the elevator will fall, and Mike will believe that Jessica is dead. 

While this is happening, Ashley, Chris, and Josh find themselves terrorized by a masked psychopath while still in the lodge. Josh is then cut in half by a torture device created by the masked psycho, who, after this, begins to target and chase Sam. 
 

4. The Nightmare Continues

The masked psycho keeps his torture by ordering Chris to shoot himself or Ashley while two saws are getting closer to them each second. Matt and Emily, after being warned about the psycho in the mountain by Chris and Ashley, run to get help. The only way to get help after somebody locked the cable car,  was to get to the radio tower. After sending a successful message to the park rangers, they were informed that they had to survive until the storm passed, meaning they were on their own Until Dawn. 

An unknown creature causes the radio tower to collapse and fall directly to the mines, separating Emily and Matt. Emily wanders around the mines. She stumbles upon where Beth and Hannah fell and finds Beth's head. A creature through the mines then chases her out. 
 

5. The Truth 

In Search of The Truth

Mike reunites with Sam, Chris, and Ashley. The psycho reveals himself, and it turns out it has always been Josh as a way to get revenge for his sisters' disappearance. He, however, does not accept the blame for Jessica's death, but Mike is reluctant to believe him and knocks Josh out and bounds him into a shed until the police come. 

Back at the lodge, the group of friends - excluding Matt and Jessica- are confronted by a stranger. The stranger reveals the whole story and who the creature that took Jessica was. The stranger explains that the mountain is infested with Wendigos, who were once humans but resorted to cannibalism after a cave-in in the mines. 
 

 6. Three Hours Until Dawn

After the strangers' revelation, Chris and the stranger tried to rescue Josh, who was left in the shed. After finding the shed empty, Chris and the stranger found themselves being chased by the Wendigo, and the stranger, sadly, was killed, as well as possibly Chris. While the rest of the group searched through the strangers' things, if Emily got bitten by the Wendigo while trying to escape the mines, she would be confronted by Ashley and Mike, who could, kill her to avoid contagion. 

Ultimately, Mike decides to go to the mines alone to find Josh. He takes, the keys to the cable car with him so that everyone can escape faster. The rest find themselves following after him. 
 

7. Two Hours Until Dawn  

Wendigo Hannah

Sam and Mike find Josh in a psychotic state. Mike tries to lead Josh out of the mines but gets stopped and attacked by the Wendigo. Josh is then either taken or killed by the Wendigo, the possibility depending on Sam finding the truth that Hannah became a Wendigo after being trapped for days in the mines and eating her sister, Beth. 

If Jessica and Matt are still alive, they will find each other in the mines and will have to escape the Wendigo again. Finally, Mike and Sam return to the lodge only to find that it has been invaded by the Wendigos, including Hannah. When a fight breaks out between the Wendigos and gas leaks, Mike and Sam work together to blow up the lodge and kill the Wendigos and Hannah inside. After the explosion, rescue helicopters finally arrive and rescue the survivors. 
 

8. Dawn Has to Arrive

In the ending credits, all survivors, excluding Josh, will state what happened to the police. At least one of them will urge the police to look into the mines and find the truth about what has been happening in Blackwood Mountain. If Josh isn't killed by the Wendigo, there will be a credit scene at the end showing him eating into the stranger's head and slowly turning himself into a Wendigo.
