[Top 5] Undertale Best Healing Items (And How To Get Them)

Nice Cream

Why are there so many healing items in Undertale?

In Undertale, you’re probably going to die a lot. I’d be pretty surprised if you didn’t die, considering how many scripted battles there are, let alone the random encounters. It’s safe to say, though, that while death is expected, it isn’t necessarily wanted– so here are five healing items that can keep you alive for just a bit longer. It is a good idea to remember, though, that different items are best for different fights.

5. Spider Donut

Leaving 7G for the Spider Donut

The Spider Bake Sale in the Ruins. Start at 1:08

The Spider Donut can be bought in the Ruins for 7G or in Hotland for 9999G. It heals 12 HP. This healing item can be used during any battle or when in the overworld, and is not one of a kind so you can buy as many as you can afford and/or carry.

This item comes in handy during the battle with Muffet. She fights you for two reasons– one, someone offered her money to fight you, and two, because you didn’t buy anything at her bake sale in Hotland. If you did buy something at her bake sale in Hotland, then the fight won’t occur (of course, you’ll also be out 9999G, so most people don’t buy anything there). However, if you use the Spider Donut you bought in the Ruins during her battle, she will immediately end the battle, making the Spider Donut a very useful healing item.

Considering the creator, Toby Fox, had worried he’d made the Muffett fight too difficult, it may be a good idea to keep a Spider Donut tucked away for this fight.

4. Bisicle

Buying the Bisicle from the Snowdin Shopkeeper

The Snowdin Shopkeeper has a number of wares

The Bisicle is ‘a two-pronged popsicle’ that heals 11 HP. It can be bought from the Snowdin Shopkeeper for 15G but will become more expensive for each boss battled. What makes the Bisicle unique– and marks it as number 4– is that it can be consumed twice. After the first consumption, it becomes a ‘Unisicle’, and its healing power is unchanged.

Essentially, the Bisicle can heal 22 HP over two consumptions, for only 15G. It’s also much easier to get than the Spider Donut– because after leaving the Ruins you can’t return, making Spider Donut hard to get. You can return to Snowdin at any point in the game to buy more Bisicles.

Also, its name is a pun, which is always fun.

3. Butterscotch-Cinnamon Pie

The Butterscotch-Cinnamon Pie Description

Toriel's home and the Butterscotch-Cinnamon Pie. Start at 4:39

The Butterscotch Pie is a one-of-a-kind item that Toriel makes for you while you stay with her in the Ruins. It is free, however, you must take a nap before triggering the Toriel battle sequence, so if you don’t take a nap before you cause her to go to the basement you will not get the Butterscotch-Cinnamon Pie.

The Butterscotch-Cinnamon Pie will heal all HP, regardless of how much or how little you have when you consume it. It can be used once. While it might be tempting to use during any battle you aren’t doing well in, there are two particular ones it has the most effect– the Asgore battle and the Lost Soul fight during the Asriel Dreemurr battle.

If you use the Butterscotch-Cinnamon Pie during the Asgore battle, it lowers his attack and defense. If you use it while trying to restore Toriel’s and Asgore’s memories during the Lost Soul fight it will restore them quicker than ACTing.

2. Sea Tea

Sea Tea Description

Gerson and his wares, as well as a few other interesting things... start at 9:37

The Sea Tea can be bought from Gerson in Waterfall. It costs 18G, is not one of a kind, and is easily accessible. As a bonus, if you give a Sea Tea to one of the doors in MTT resort then you will receive 99G.

But how much does it heal, you might be asking. Truth is, it only heals 10HP. However, consuming Sea Tea four times during a battle will effectively double your speed for that battle. So, if you have a habit of getting hurt a lot during long battles like against Undyne, this is the item for you.

1. Legendary Hero

Buying the Legendary Hero

The Legendary Burgerpants

The Legendary Hero is sold at the MTT-Brand Burger Emporium. It’s easily accessible and can be bought as many times as you want. It is somewhat expensive, costing 300G, but the benefits outweigh the price.

First, it heals 40HP. It will raise your attack by 4 for one battle. So if you need a lot of HP and don’t have the time to increase it over several turns, this is the item for you. And since it raises your attack, you might be able to end the battle just a bit quicker– if you choose to attack in the first place (this item will be particularly useful in the Asgore battle for both healing and attack, as the Asgore battle in Pacifist does require you to fight back).

It also raises ratings by 300 during the Mettaton EX battle due to the brand (MTT brand, MeTTaton brand). Since the Mettaton EX battle will end with ratings of either 10,000 or 12,000 depending on the state of his arms and legs, it’s important to get those ratings up. If you can’t… well, it’s going to be a long fight.

So, keep your head up and use MTT brand items to keep those ratings high and your SOUL intact!
