Introduced in Tekken 7, Claudio quickly became an important character in both the game's story and competitive scene. The Italian exorcist was a strong addition to the roster, with a moveset combining high damage with elegant animations. Bandai Namco have found a way to perfect Claudio in Tekken 8, with a flawless new appearance and refined moveset the character has quickly become a fan-favourite in the series.

The story of Tekken 7 saw Claudio, the most powerful member of a secret society of exorcists, reluctantly join forces with Heihachi to pursue his mission of eliminating the devil gene from the Mishima bloodline. After Heihachi had achieved an ulterior motive, it was revealed that he simply needed the information the society of exorcists held, as opposed to their exorcist abilities. Heihachi then dismisses Claudio. It is likely that Claudio’s story in Tekken 8 will involve him trying to get revenge on Heihachi Mishima for using him the way he did in Tekken 7.

Typically Claudio has an arrogant and sarcastic personality although interestingly, one of his victory poses shows him caring for his opponent and offering them support. Surprisingly, Claudio was one of the first characters announced to be returning in the newest instalment of the series!

Claudios rage art in Tekken 8 is a visually stunning cinematic not dissimilar to his rage art in Tekken 7. It shows him firing one of his magic arrows directly into his opponent and shouting “Arrivederci!” (goodbye until we meet again, in Italian). An interesting new addition is certain grab moves causing the Italian exorcist to shout “Mamma Mia!”.

One of the most notable changes to Claudio in Tekken 8 is his updated moveset! From certain moves getting reworked to completely new attacks, Claudio is now able to utilise a lot of different playstyles. New additions like launching a magic arrow at his opponent, to different moves utilising starburst such as his signature ‘superman punch’. These changes alter Claudio from being the aggressive, high damaging character in Tekken 7 to allowing the player to keep distance from the opponent and play defensively. Claudio underwent a number of balancing changes throughout his time in Tekken 7, which ultimately left him as a highly rated character who was often used in competitive tournaments.
