[Top 5] Overwatch 2 Best Beginner DPS That Are Powerful

If you’re new to this game, I’m here to show you the top 5 DPS characters that are powerful and easy to learn. Now, this game brings pain, so I hope you know what you’re getting into. Like how Bastion’s turret makes me want to throw my controller. Or how a Widowmaker always seems to get a headshot on me at the worst moments. But you want to learn easy and powerful DPS, so here they are:

1. Soldier 76

Soldier 76’s assault rifle has a lot of shots and a lot of damage output. Plus, he can self-heal with one of his abilities, which is great for a beginner in a jam. And his shots can cover a long range, allowing you to do damage from far away.

Advice: When you shoot, try not to let the recoil of the gun cause you to miss a lot of shots. Also, don’t make the mistake I did learning him where you use your self-heal, go down 10 or 20 health points, then  immediately get down to 10 health total and don’t have self-heal ready.

What makes Soldier 76 great for DPS:

  • The assault rifle deals 5.4 to 18 damage per shot
  • One assault rifle clip holds 30 bullets
  • He’s able to shoot up to nine rounds per second
  • It only takes him 1.5 seconds to reload
  • His helix rockets can do 80-120 points of damage
  • His ultimate ability, visor, lets him fire without having to aim/waste shots
  • His rifle can shoot up to 50 meters away

2. Sojourn

Since sojourn is relatively new, there isn’t a whole lot of expert analysis. But, that aside, she’s great for beginners because of her agility and damage output.

Advice: If you plan on learning sojourn, be mindful of your abilities as your slide can help you enter or exit a sticky situation. Also, feel free to hang back and shoot from the back, like soldier 76.

What makes Sojourn a good DPS:

  • You get 45 bullets in a single clip
  • Hitting barriers charges your secondary
  • Her alternate fire can do up to 130 damage
  • The slide ability can take you up to 16 meters away
  • Her disrupter shot ability does 210 damage
  • The disrupter also slows enemy movement by 25%

Highlight intros:

What makes Torbjorn great for DPS:

  • His nail gun deals 70 damage points
  • You can shoot from up to 70 yards away
  • His clip holds 18 nails
  • His shotgun fire has a spread of 4.5 degrees
  • The hammer deals 50 damage to opponents and 50 healing to the turret
  • His turret does 14 damage every 0.25 seconds
  • Overload ability gives him a 30% damage buff for 5 seconds

4. Sombra

Highlight intros:

Expert analysis: In my time playing Overwatch 2, Sombra is good for capturing points and picking off secluded enemies that are alone or backed into a corner.

Advice: Make sure that you plant a recall in the spawn room in case you get too low on health and need to heal. Also, your gun is good for single enemies, meaning it has a hard time taking out a group of enemies.

What makes Sombra great for DPS:

  • Her uzi fires up to 7 damage per shot in 20 rounds a second
  • Her hack gives you an 8-second advantage over your enemy
  • She can hack health packs that block the enemy from healing from your shots
  • Stealth lets you get up behind your enemy and deal half their health in damage in an instant
  • Her emp renders an entire team defenseless for 8 seconds, like the hack

5. Reaper

Highlight intros:

Expert analysis: I’ve had a fun and hard time playing reaper. For instance, Reaper's good for when the enemy team is bunched together or spread out. When they’re bunched up, you can do a lot of spread damage, and if they’re spread out, you can pick them off one by one like the skittles bag that is somehow always empty.

Advice: Keep your ability cooldown in mind as you don’t wanna use his shadow hover to get away from a single shot, only to be met by another enemy that kills you because you can’t escape. Plus, your teleport will help you onto ledges for jumping off of and landing whilst using your ultimate.

Why Reaper is great for DPS:

  • His hellfire shotguns at close range can do 108 points of damage
  • He also grants you 20 pellets per shot giving you a wide range of spread
  • You get a whole 8 bullets before having to reload
  • His ultimate death blossom does 170 damage per second for 3 seconds
  • Death blossom can cover a range of up to 8 meters
  • His passive ability, reaping, gives you health when you damage enemies
