Many Magic the Gathering players ask the question, is it worth it to punch my screen when I lose to the same cards every match? Arena does not have as large of a card pool as the paper game. However, the hundreds of cards available allow for some absolute annoyances to be formed. In my other lists so far, I’ve talked about what decks and cards are the strongest. Today I’m giving you a list of the decks that just make my keyboard look really smashable.Playing against them is not fun but playing with that power can be worth a few laughs.Time to let salt flow for this rogues gallery of the most annoying decks out there in the arena. 

 

10.Dimir Control

Don’t let the faerie fool you

Black and blue is how you’ll feel if you face a control deck. Now it is our turn to spread that misery. Use spells to just remove and consume what you need as the game goes on.

What is Great about Dimir Control?

  • Allows you to gain information and use it to make your opponents suffer
  • Will lockdown your opponent if you survive
  • Tons of card interaction

How to play Dimir Control

  • Use adventure to achieve maximum value off your creatures
  • The counter spells will stop your opponent from playing their value
  • Use Ashiok to mill your opponent
  • Stay alive by bouncing creatures off the board
  • Pay attention to your mana and always leave resources to remove threats

9. Mirror Mirror

Mirror, mirror, on the wall show me how to control them all! 

The mirror will show you the way to play control. Harnessing the power of the dragon planeswalker Ugin, this deck will make your opponents hate life. Remove it all to be the fairest of them all. 

What is great about Mirror Mirror?

Blue and white give you the best lockdown cards

Massive card draw

Can play most of your deck at instant speed

How to play Mirror Mirror

  • Utilize instants and sorceries to respond to your opponents plays
  • The enchantments provide the  knowledge to find what you need 
  • The artifacts are where the value is, exploit them
  • Fill your graveyard as you cast spells
  • Draw cards and use them to deal damage and secure the win

8.Boros Winota 

Winota is never disarmed... 

Red and white creatures unite. Winota is the beast riding maiden who uses the beasts to help her human friends wreck hard. Using the rage of red and wisdom of white, this deck can spam out creatures to annoy any deck that can’t keep up. 

What is great about Boros Winota?

  • Run a union of beasts and humans 
  • This deck goes wide and wrecks hard 
  • Combat is straight up value

How to play Boros Winota? 

  • Play as many creatures as you can 
  • Use combat to trigger Winota’s ability and watch the army grow
  • Keep attacking and casting spells
  • Certain creatures protect your others, guard them well
  • Send in onslaught after onslaught until you win

7.Esper Encantamientos

Goddess of making enchantments enter the board multiple times 

Blue, white, and black, alone each provides value. Together, they can create the most annoying matches in all of magic. If you play this deck you’ll reach mythic but will lose some friends along the way. However, loyalty is no match for power, have fun!

What is great about Esper?

  • Three colors provide a lot of options
  • Mostly running removal and counters 
  • Not creature heavy and doesn’t require combat

How to play Esper

  • Use every turn as your own, because you can
  • Play enchantments to develop your board state
  • The creatures you play will protect your enchantments, use as needed
  • Draw cards like crazy to play more cards and respond to threats
  • Survive and draw your big bombs then use them to kill your opponent

6.Temur Adventure

Who gave the storm teeth? 

Green, red, and blue makes the sharks attack you. A deck that is biting through standard right now. Use adventure to cast insane spells that cannot be stopped.

What is great about Temur Adventure?

  • You get to create a sharknado
  • Adventure adds more value to your creatures
  • Ramp like crazy

How to play Temur Adventure

  • Your goal is to create a sharknado
  • Do this by casting the enchantment that allows you to make one
  • Draw cards and play spells that get you closer to playing this finned frenzy
  • Play a copy of it, if you hit another slam it onto the board
  • Watch the sharknado wreak havoc as you swing out with an army of flying sharks

5.Izzet Prowess

Bad enough when the storm had teeth, now it is alive!

Red and blue combine for the wrath of the elements. Use spells to make your creatures become monsters with prowess. Sling spells because your life depends on it. 

What is great about Izzet?

  • Cast tons of spells
  • Your creatures profit off of spells being cast
  • Aggressive if it needs to be

How to play Izzet

  • Deploy lands to get the mana you need
  • Play spells when the moment is right
  • With prowess you can make your creatures grow to deal massive damage
  • Most of the spells can be cast at instant speed, this can turn the tide of combat
  • Attack and deal damage using prowess to win

Another Temur deck this one uses the colors for a different strategy. This deck is historic so it draws on the power of some older cards. Draw cards and watch the plague of locust become your ticket to victory. 

What is great about Locust Flood?

  • Allows you to make tons of tokens 
  • Takes a mid- range approach 
  • Tons of removal 

How to play Locus Flood?

  • Establish a board state with lands to get your colors
  • Cast low cost spells to draw cards to find your value
  • Play your value to allow you to survive to start making tokens
  • The locus god makes tokens with haste swing as they spawn
  • Continue to deal damage and create a bug infestation until you win

  • Play mana ramp to cast large boys 
  • Stomp em out with the large boys
  • Make even more large boys 
  • Keep stomping
  • Stop only once they are stomped to death

What is great about RDW? 

  • Plays incredibly fast
  • Deals massive damage
  • Extremely cheap spells 

How to play RDW

  • Get mana and play a creature
  • Attack as much as possible
  • Play more creatures burn all in your path
  • Keep attacking 
  • Use instants and sorceries to deal extra damage

I just can't wait to be king!

The top deck of the most annoying decks. All the others can counter and deal damage but this one tops it all. Nine lives makes it so you physically cannot lose the game. Historic only with this bad boy, but still a blast to play. 

What is great about Nine Lives Lockdown?

  • You cannot lose 
  • Two card combo
  • White allows you to protect the combo

How to play NLL 

  • This is a control deck so you must counter
  • Always leave a little mana open for a response
  • Use your cards to deal with threats and draw more cards
  • Instant speed is your friend, abuse it
  • Play the cards Nine Lives and Solemnity to make it so you can't lose the game
