CoD Vanguard's best settings

Still trying to get better?

Every gamer wants to be the best... don't lie to me. And, even though in the end it all comes down to how you play the game, it's always nice to have some help that the game gives you. So, for all those who enjoy CoD Vanguard and haven't yet taken full advantage of the settings, I leave you with a top 25 of the best ones. I have to admit that some of them I hadn't even activated myself and trust me… they are worth it.

25. Display Game in Fullscreen

The problem: The quality of the game will worsen if you decide to play it in a resizable window.

How setting Game in Fullscreen helps:

  • You will take full advantage of the game's graphics
  • You'll see everything clearly and sharply
  • You will be able to spot enemies much easier

How to apply ADS Mouse Sensitivity:

  • Go to settings
  • Click on the graphics tab and on the display tab just below it.
  • Set Display Mode to Fullscreen

24. Keep your brightness around 50-60

The problem: Maps can be a bit dark and shadows a little bit annoying

How this setting helps:

  • Better appreciation and enjoyment of the game
  • Enemies are easier to recognize
  • Explosions or blasts won't be so annoying

How to apply:

  • Go to settings
  • Click on the graphics tab and on the display tab right below it.
  • Set Brightness value around 50-60

23.  Adjust the rendering resolution to a value of 100

The problem: Although it depends on the resolution you use, it is recommended for all those who play at 1920 by 1080 to set it to 100 so you won't have a blurry and uncomfortable game.

How setting the resolution to a value of 100 helps:

  • Improved game performance
  • Improved image quality
  • Smoother gameplay

How to apply:

  • Go to settings
  • Click on the graphics tab and on the quality tab right below it.
  • Set Render Resolution to 100

22.  Enable the bullet impact and spray option

The problem: If you don't know where your bullets are hitting, how do you plan to take down an enemy?

How setting helps:

  • Incredibly useful for wall-bang kills
  • Helps you identify a gun's recoil pattern

How to apply:

  • Go to settings
  • Click on the graphics tab and on the quality tab right below it.
  • Look for “Details & Textures”
  • Activate the Bullet Impact & Sprays option

21.  Set your Texture Resolution to Medium

The problem: Once again, even if this option depends on your personal device, it sure is a pain to use a lot of your RAM when playing.

How setting helps:

  • Keep your game smooth
  • The game may not be as detailed as before, but will sure be more fluent

How to apply:

  • Go to settings
  • Click on the graphics tab and on the quality tab right below it.
  • Look for “Details & Textures”
  • Set your Texture Resolution to Medium

20.  Level of Detail Distance Range: Standard

The problem: How are you supposed to complete your longshots if you can’t see the enemies? (You don't need to see every pixel of them either.)

How setting helps:

  • Get a clearer view from afar
  • Spot enemies from greater distances, without the need of seeing them perfectly

How to apply:

  • Go to settings
  • Click on the graphics tab and on the quality tab right below it.
  • Look for “Details & Textures”
  • Set Level of Detail Distance to Standard

19. Turn Screen-Space Shadows Off… like right now

The problem: I don’t wanna say we don’t care about detail in video games, but like… c’mon. Do you really care about the view in CoD?

How setting helps:

  • Helps your game run smoother
  • The less detail in the background, the more focus on what matters: the enemies.

How to apply:

  • Go to settings
  • Click on the graphics tab and on the quality tab right below it.
  • Look for “Shadow & Lighting”
  • Turn Screen-Space Shadows off

18.  Shadow Map Resolution: Medium

The problem: We might not care about the shadows in the view, but blurry shadows inside the map might affect your gameplay.

How setting helps:

  • Differentiating shadows will give you an advantage when approaching enemy spawn f.e
  • Detailed shadows help detect the depth or distance of a target
  • Just enough to be useful (spot enemies killstreaks, grenades, etc.), but not enough to interfere with your vision.

How to apply:

  • Go to settings
  • Click on the graphics tab and on the quality tab right below it.
  • Look for “Shadow & Lighting”
  • Set Shadow Map Resolution to Medium

17. Pay attention to your Particle Lighting

The problem: this one might not be as necessary as you think, but the detail of the embers is very useful. Why? Because it helps you stay aware of your surroundings f.e explosions, fire, bombing, etc. Plus the particles look really good in this game.

How setting helps:

  • Helps you spot fire in the game (thermite grenades, molotovs, etc.)
  • Dust after explosions looks nice and detailed
  • Improves the immersive experience of the game

How to apply:

  • Go to settings
  • Click on the graphics tab and on the quality tab right below it.
  • Look for “Shadow & Lighting”
  • Set Particle Lighting to Medium

16. Turn FidelityFX CAS On

The problem: You are missing out on tons of game sharpness by keeping this setting off.

How setting helps:

  • In-game sharpness is noticeable when turned on
  • The game looks way better, which makes the player feel better too
  • Makes the game look and feel more interesting

How to apply:

  • Go to settings
  • Click on the graphics tab and on the quality tab right below it.
  • Look for “Post Processing Effects”
  • Turn FidelityFX CAS On

15. Set your FOV higher than 100

The problem: The lower the value you use here, the narrower your view will be, and the more things you will miss happening around you.

How setting helps:

  • Character movement feels much smoother
  • You have greater control of what happens around you
  • You are able to pay more attention to multiple points on the map

How to apply:

  •  Go to settings
  • Click on the graphics tab and on the gameplay tab right below it.
  • Look for “Field of View”
  • Set it to a value greater than 100

14. Turn your Camera Movement down (to like 50)

The problem: This game... let's just say it makes your camera shake a lot... a hell of a lot and on top of that having this setting above 50 will make everything feel like an earthquake.

How setting helps:

  • Your camera will be more stable
  • You won't feel as much vibration when shooting
  • You will feel much more comfortable with the game

How to apply:

  •  Go to settings
  • Click on the graphics tab and on the gameplay tab right below it.
  • Look for “Camera Movement”
  • Set it to around 50

13.  Turn Weapon Motion Blur off

The problem: do you honestly want your weapon to get blurry once you start moving?...

How setting helps:

  • Clearer game image
  • Even if this makes the game more realistic, it just makes it harder for the player to see what’s happening around him

How to apply:

  •  Go to settings
  • Click on the graphics tab and on the gameplay tab right below it.
  • Look for Weapon Motion Blur
  • Do yourself a favor and turn it off

12. Turn World Motion Blur off

The problem: the same as before: do you find this necessary? Like… having a blurred vision while sprinting, aiming and firing sounds good to you?...

How setting helps:

  • Clearer image and gameplay
  • Easier to spot enemies
  • You won’t miss anything happening around ya

How to apply:

  •  Go to settings
  • Click on the graphics tab and on the gameplay tab right below it.
  • Look for Weapon Motion Blur
  • Turn it off

11. Set your Button Layout to Tactical (Controller Players)

The problem: aiming while going prone (drop shot)

How Tactical Button Layout helps:

  • You don’t have to hold circle or B and aim with the same finger and drop shots are always useful
  • Faster response when crouching/sliding and going prone
  • You can aim while “changing” your height

How to apply:

  • Check your “Controller” Settings
  • Look for Basic Controls
  •  Find the Option: Button Layout Preset
  • Click on it and set it to Tactical

10. Set your Button Layout to Flipped (Controller players)

The problem: Your triggers wear out faster and control response may become slower, especially those playing on PS4

How setting Flipped Button Layout helps:

  • You get a faster controller response
  • Won’t have to press as hard to fire your weapon
  •  A faster rate of fire while using Tactical Rifles, Pistols or Sniper Rifles

How to apply Flipped Button Layout:

  • Check your “Controller” Settings
  • Look for Basic Controls
  •  Find the Option: Button Layout Preset
  • Press Square or X to “Show More”
  • Turn the option on

9. Set Music Volume all the way down to 0

The problem: the in-game music interferes with the sound effects, making it harder to know whenever an enemy’s close or a killstreak’s being deployed, etc.

How setting music volume helps:

  • You won’t be disturbed by the music whenever a killstreak’s deployed
  • You’ll be able to pay full attention to more important sounds (
  • You won’t be overstressed in case you wanna get that V2 Rocket

How to apply:

  • Go to the “Audio” tab
  • Look for the “Game Sound” option
  •  Set Music Volume to 0

8. Find your perfect stick dead zone

The problem: each controller has a different dead zone but finding the right one for your controller will make weapon recoil control much easier.

How setting your deadzone helps:

  • It’ll help you control weapon recoil much better
  • You’ll find an appropriate sensitivity
  • Your stick won’t be drifting away

How to apply:

  • Check your “Controller” Settings
  • Look for Advanced Controls
  •  Find the Option: Right Stick Min Input Deadzone
  • Set it to a value you feel comfortable with

7. Set your Slide Behavior to Tap

The problem: if you have to hold the button to tap, you’ll take a few more seconds that can cost you your life.

How setting helps:

  • Smoother movement
  • Slide-cancel’s easier to accomplish
  • You’ll get more agile

How to apply:

  •  Check your “Controller” Settings
  • Look for Action Behavior
  •  Find the Option: Slide Behavior
  • Set it to “Tap”

6.  Turn your Automatic Sprint on

The problem: if you’re not used to this game’s mobility, it’ll take you some time to finally get good at it and realize that it’s a good thing to keep moving fast.

How setting helps:

  • Makes you move fast at all times
  • You won’t need to press your stick to sprint (controller friendly)

How to apply:

  •  Check your “Controller” Settings
  • Look for Movement
  •  Find the Option: Automatic Sprint
  • Set it to “Automatic Tactical Sprint”

5.  Sprint cancels reload: ON

The problem: you could get caught reloading and if you want to move and cancel the reload at the same time, you might be in trouble with this setting turned off.

How setting helps:

  • Helps you move faster when needed
  • You’ll be able to escape uncomfortable situations

How to apply:

  • Check your “Controller” Settings
  • Look for Movement
  •  Find the Option: Sprint Cancels Reload
  • Enable it

4. Enable Sprinting Door Bash

The problem: let’s say you’re rushing enemy respawn, but there’s a door in your way: you’d look and feel really stupid if you bumped into it, wouldn’t you?

How setting helps:

  • Makes the game feel more “alive” because you’re just running around and bashing doors open
  • You’ll open doors quicker
  • Rewards aggressive plays

How to apply:

  •  Check your “Controller” Settings
  • Look for Movement
  •  Find the Option: Sprinting Door Bash
  • Enable it

3.  Keep your Dialogue Volume above 50

The problem: you might wanna hear when the enemy team calls a UAV or calls in some dogs. If you turn this volume down, you won’t be able to stay aware of the game itself.

How setting helps:

  • Gives you game awareness
  • Is extremely useful for some weapon challenges (destroying killstreaks)
  • Keeps you focused

How to apply:

  • Go to the “Audio” tab
  • Look for the “Game Sound” option
  •  Set Dialogue Volume above 50

2. Don’t disable hit marker sound effects

The problem: I’ve never met anyone who turns this off, but… just in case, you know? This setting is super important, especially if you’re stunned, blinded, inside of the smoke, or shooting at someone behind the wall. Without this sound, you’re lost.

How setting helps:

  • Helps you keep track of where you’re shooting at
  • Super useful for wall-bang kills
  • Gives you enemy position awareness

How to apply:

  • Go to the “Audio” tab
  • Look for the “Game Sound” option
  •  Set Hit Marker Sound Effects how you want, just don’t disable them

1. Find your perfect sensitivity

The problem: a lot of players struggle with recoil, positioning, and ADS precision because they don’t take the time to analyze their sensitivity and how to improve it.

How setting helps:

  • You’ll get way better than an average player who doesn’t seem to control his weapon’s recoil control
  • You will be able to center your scope more easily
  • No weapon will seem like a challenge

How to apply:

  • Check your “Controller” Settings
  • Look for Basic Controls
  •  Find the Options: Vertical and Horizontal Stick Sensitivity
  • Play with it until you find the right one for you
  • You should pay attention to the sensitivity per zoom too
