6. They Are Billions

The zombie apocalypse has devastated the world, and now, only a few thousand humans remain. You must rebuild their world while being mindful that they don't get lost to the horde.

In They Are Billions, you'll find yourself building a new society for humankind in the wake of a devastating apocalypse. But though the war is generally over, there are millions of infected roaming the Earth. You must build up the future of humanity, and make sure the zombies don't ruin it for you. Build your world, arm your citizens, and make sure humanity doesn't go extinct.

They Are Billions doesn't sugarcoat how screwed the world is here. You have to survive, and you have to build in order to do that. Build your metropolis, but make sure that your people are well equipped to handle what's out there, for if you don't, you will pay the price.

Rebuild your world, and use whatever you need to make it happen.

The cities you make are important, as are the defenses that are needed for him.

5. Foxhole

There is a war. YOU are the driving force in that war. As is the next player, and the player after them. When the war is influenced by everyone, anything can happen.

Foxhole is a very unique kind of MMO, as EVERYONE affects EVERYONE in this never-ending war. As a single soldier, you'll do what you feel is best to help your side of the war effort. However, everyone else will try and do the same. Whether it's building bases, defenses, getting weapons, sabotaging the enemy, everything is permitted, and everyone can do it. The war can change in the blink of an eye depending on how far one person is willing to go.

We've always heard that MMO games are "influenced by everyone", but with Foxhole it's actually true, and that's awesome. Knowing that what you do can affect everyone in the game is incredibly satisfying.

A war without end, where everything can change via one person...sounds like fun!

Prepare for battle on all sides at all times.

4. Frostpunk

In a world that is cold, where all life is now on the brink because of the frozen tundra that is the world, you must build life. You must build the last city on Earth, but every single choice you make will cost lives, whether you want it to or not.

How far will you go to protect humanity as a whole? What will you build to ensure that the human race will endure? These are the questions put upon you, put upon the man or woman who must lead the last city on Earth to glory and lasting safety from the cold tundra. Use the steam technology around you, govern the people as best you can, and be ready to make the hard decisions to ensure the survival of the man over the few.

The world of Frostpunk is very special, because you're not fighting monsters here, you're fighting the weather. And by leading your people, you can try to guarantee their safety, but you may also doom them in the process. True risk management as you try and rebuild the world, that's very compelling.

The cold can make way for many beautiful things if you're willing to endure.

You'll need to make many different things in order to survive, are you ready?

3. Dawn of War 2

1. Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun

Japan has been through many wars, but now, a new Shogun has given the land peace. But he knows it's only a matter of time before war comes again, so to prevent this, he hires 5 men to stop upcoming threats.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is a very different kind of strategy game. Mainly because you have 5 different warriors you can use to handle a variety of tasks and challenges. Each one has strengths, each one has weaknesses, and each one has a unique style and personality for you to learn. Embrace the blades, and tackle all the threats the Shogun gives you so that peace can truly come to Japan!

Just putting a game in Feudal Japan is fun, but to bring multiple aspects of the culture to bear via the 5 blades of the Shogun is top notch. And with each one handling differently, you know that gameplay is always going to change.

A war for the throne is on, use whatever tactics you can to survive any encounter.

Feudal Japan is rendered beautifully, but that doesn't mean it can't get bloody.
