About - Keith Farr: Choose a generation and add any letter that is obscure, a high scrabble scorer and mostly algebraic - Choose X,Y or even Z; and you have a decent inkling of me and the generations that have created and modeled me. I come from, live and understand the crunchy alphabet soup of them all – but no labels please. I have a spectrum (and I don’t mean ZX) of taste, I have experienced and love all types, looks and iterations of gaming; from the 70’s ( you want an example…. Oh Ok.. SPACE INVADERS forever) into the blinding future ( Still SPACE INVADERS – but hopefully for different reasons). I’m used to picking it up in analogue, continue playing it religiously in digital but (lets be honest) I still get excited about any tactile game – from cards to lead. I carved my first D20 while in the bush of Africa, crouched under the tracer night sky playing a short shrift version of D&D, with subversive fellow recruits. As the fire danced with crazy shadows surrounded by my fellow dungeon hardened buddies; we were living through a real-world battle around us; we played in the trenches and the foxholes. We continued to carve and create our die, characters and stories in the bush - It was war. Catch 42 was a myth - there was no Internet, no liberty and no freedom – only the die or you did die…. On a lighter note Tolkien, Frank Herbert, Douglas Adams and every bit of 2000 AD you could smuggle into the country was a gateway to a fresh perspective, new worlds and vistas of self-growth. The gift that Fantasy, Sci-fi gave was supported by gaming. What it has given to me and many is not one to be taken lightly; even in consideration of the basics such as, Chess and Go, the value of all gaming is immeasurable. So what does this mean for you the reader. In short the objective – I aim to give you a useful summary and helpful insight to the item been reviewed. I will always give you entertainment – you my have to work for it, but lets presume as a reader you know this part of the contract and are happy to play along. In addition I commit to always provide something original and definitely challenging. Viva Reading and writing…..
