[Easy Guide] Smash Melee How To Unlock All Characters

You may be having a hard time unlocking all of the characters available in Melee. There are eleven to unlock in total; some easier than others. If you want access to the full roster and a more expansive experience with friends, consult this guide for unlocking all of the characters.

Jigglypuff

Go to Classic or Adventure and complete it with any character on any difficulty. Or you can finish 50 VS matches.

Dr. Mario

Either complete Classic/Adventure with Mario without continues or play 100 VS matches.

Pichu

The preceding evolution of Pikachu will be found after the successful completion of Event 37: Legendary Pokemon. Otherwise, 200 VS matches will be enough.

Falco

The simple completion of 100-Man Melee will suffice. The longer route by comparison is doing 300 VS matches.

Marth

There are many options to obtaining Marth. One is to beat Classic or Adventure with all starter characters. Another is to use all starters at least once in VS mode. The final method is to complete 400 VS matches.

Young Link

To obtain the younger version of the Hero of Time, beat Classic/Adventure with ten distinct characters or play 500 VS matches.

Ganondorf

If you play Event Matches, you will get this guy before Pichu as he is obtainable at Event 29: Triforce Gatherings. The alternate route is 600 VS matches.

Mewtwo

The long haul is 20 hours in Versus Mode before you encounter Mewtwo. Speedrunning through 700 VS matches is a better option and can be done in a few hours if executed well.

Luigi

The specifics for unlocking Luigi are the most unique out of his competitors. In the first stage of Adventure Mode, made sure that the timer has a digit of “2” in the second’s place. Then beat Luigi and Peach in less than one minute. The simpler option is 800 VS matches.

Roy

Using Marth, beat Classic or Adventure without continues. 900 VS matches is the alternate option.

Mr. Game & Watch

This will be the last character that you unlock. You have the option of beating Classic, Adventure, or Break the Targets with all other characters or completing 1000 VS matches.
