[Top 15] Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Best Electric Types (Ranked)

Best SV Electric-type pokemon
Need a jolt?

When it comes to the numbers of pokemon per type, electric-types have one of the smaller numbers.  Yet probably still one of the most popular types by fans of the franchise, mainly due to Pikachu being the mascot.  Especially due to the one that is the partner to one Ash Ketchum, who as of 2023, is continuing his journey off screen.

With electric-type pokemon, they can be the perfect game changer, if the circumstances are right.  While they only have a type advantage against water- and flying-types, their attacks can still pack a powerful punch against most pokemon. The attacks become even more powerful when it’s raining, either by weather, or another pokemon using the Rain Dance move.

Yet for every upside, there is a downside to things.  What could upset any strategy involving electric-type pokemon, is if the opponent is using a ground-type pokemon.  Since ground-types are not only immune to electric attacks, they can knock out most electric-types with one good blow.  The exceptions being if the electric is also a flying type, or has the levitate ability, which gives them immunity in return.  So unless those pokemon know any attacks that can put up a strong fight against ground-types, their fight is over.

Electric attacks also have their good and bad points, the bad ones include the things mentioned before.  Thunder Wave is a useful attack, since it paralyzes an opponent, without causing any kind of damage to them, including some wild pokemon you intend to catch.  Thunderbolt, one of the most well known attacks, is a powerful attack with 100% accuracy.  It is also the safest bet to get a hit, compared to some of the attacks that are more powerful than it.

Some of the most powerful electric attacks are the ones that come with flaws to consider, before using them for any battle.  Thunder is an extremely powerful attack, with less accuracy than Thunderbolt.  One way to increase its accuracy is to have a pokemon use Rain Dance, making it more likely to hit with a big boost.  Volt Tackle and Wild Charge are both powerful, yet due to the pokemon attacking their opponent head-on, causes damage to the user.

Now it is time to countdown to the most powerful electric pokemon in Scarlet & Violet.  Now the source of this list is from an article written by Madeline Virtue, for DualShockers.  The article says 20, but I’m going to be giving you 15, you can find the other 5 with this link:  Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: 20 Best Electric-Type Pokemon, Ranked (dualshockers.com.  As for the stats, I use Serebii.net.

PawmotBeware of a cute face.

An electric/fighting type introduced in Scarlet and Violet, it is one of those pokemon you can catch sometime early on in the game, as a pawmi.  Although to evolve it form a pawmo, you would need to have it walk with you in the outside world, and to know if you walked enough steps, it will evolve after leveling up.

As mentioned by Virtue:  “It has a base Attack of 115 and a base Speed is 105, which means it can hit hard and fast. It's hidden ability is Iron Fist, which powers up its punching attacks, so you can get quite a wallop out of teaching it Thunder Punch.”

Yet, as a warning from Virtue:  “It's got some great moves it learns naturally, as Iron Tail and Thunder, as well TM moves like Thunderbolt and Electro Ball. The only downside with Raichu is its lack of type coverage, so you have to really double down on what it does well, which can make or break a competitive fight.”

Yet as a warning from Virtue:  “It can't take much of a hit, unfortunately, so you'll want to pair it with a good team defender or teach it Volt Switch to maximize its damage while keeping it away from harm. Yet as stated by Virtue, as a warning:  “It has good type coverage, and its natural moves are well-themed. Unfortunately, the Poison typing in addition to being Electric type makes it extra weak to Ground-type attacks, so you'll need a clever strategy to avoid getting knocked-out before you can get a hit in.”

ElectivireTime for the pep talk

This list has an interesting mix of pokemon that can handle their own in battle, and which ones are best suited for double battles..  Don’t be afraid to give some of these pokemon a test drive, and see which one fits your team the best, along with the ones introduced in the DLCs.  Also, the Alolan Raichu that you see here, you can transfer one from Pokemon Home, yet it won’t register on the pokedex.  So good luck with building your team up.
