[Top 5] Grounded Best Armor And How To Get Them

In Grounded you're a squishy kid and you'll need to survive the harsh elements of your backyard armor is your best friend to do this and I'll show you what armor is the best to keep your frail body safe.

In the exciting indie game Grounded there are seven full sets of armor, three helmets, and a pair of special boots that don’t belong to a complete set. Every set of armor has three pieces: a head, torso, and leg piece that all do different and cool things. I cover the five best sets of armor in the game, each has made it on this list for different reasons.

Every Armor Set in Grounded

5. The Clover Armor (Easiest for Early Game)

Hauling with the Clover Armor

The simplest and easiest armor to get really early in Grounded is the clover armor. Armors like this are in nearly every survival game out there in some form, it’s the starting armor that’s super easy to make.

What's good about Clover Armor

  • It’s super easy to create and offers a small amount of armor.
  • Increases fuller so you won’t get hungry as fast.
  • If you wear the full set you’ll get the moist effect so you won’t be thirsty either.

How to get Clover Armor

  • You’ll need to harvest clovers and research it at a research center to unlock it.
  • After you unlock it you’ll need to make a crafting table to make it.
  • Collect 13 clovers, 2 sprigs, and 6 woven fiber and at the crafting table, you can make your set of clover armor and get its benefits.

4. Ant Set (Best for Hauling)

Ready for battle in the Ant Armor

This armor is a little tricky to get but is great for base building and hauling supplies you’ll need to build your base. Ant armor is stronger than clover armor and is useful when you need to build a permanent home.

What’s good about Ant Armor

  • Each piece lets you carry more when you’re base-building, normally you can only carry 5 of any building planks but with this armor set, you can carry 8 planks.
  • The coolest thing about this armor is its set bonus, HumAnt, this perk makes it so that no ants will attack you unless you attack them, even soldier ants. This means you can go into the ant hills completely safely.
  • The second easiest armor to make you just need to research ant parts to unlock it then build it at a workbench.

How to get Ant Armor

  • You’ll need to kill at least one ant to get ant parts to research (Warning: Don’t fight ants while they are in their anthills or a group) It’s best to fight ants as they are traveling alone or with one other ant, they are not hard to fight if they are alone.
  • You’ll need to kill mites for this armor and get mite fuzz to create this armor along with most other stronger armors.
  • You’ll need 1 ant head, 14 ant parts, 11 mite fuzz, 2 acid glands, and 2 woven fibers. Acid glands are only dropped by soldier ants so you will have to go to an anthill to find one, in the video, it shows more detail as to where to get everything.

3. Acorn Set (Strongest for Early Game)

Acorn Armor Hunter

Each piece of the Acorn set gives extra health, a full set gives uncrackable that makes it so you don’t take as much damage when blocking and your armor won’t break as easily.

What’s good about Acorn Armor

  • Really easy to make with good armor that’s stronger than the clover armor and slightly stronger than the ant armor.
  • You get food while collecting the materials you need to make this armor.
  • This armor boosts your health so if you’re not the best at blocking this armor is a great set for you.
  • The uncrackable perk makes it so that when you do block your stamina isn’t drained as much and the armor won’t break as easily as others.

How to get Acorn Armor

  • You’ll have to go to the Great Oak to find acorns and harvest the shells to research them, lucky they also drop acorn bits, a great source of food.
  • You’ll need mite fuzz for this armor as well so be sure to grab some before crafting this at a crafting table.
  • For the complete set you’ll need 6 acorn shells, 5 mite fuzz, 11 woven fiber, 6 clover leaves, and 4 sap. The sap is found near the tree as well as any twigs or sticks that are found in Grounded.

Becoming Uncrackable with the Acorn Armor

2. Ladybug set (Strong Late Game)

Deadly Ladybug with the Ladybug Knight

This armor is the strongest in the game but is also the hardest to get. This is one of the coolest looking with the contrast of black and red. This armor offers cool perks that help the late game to keep you alive against all hazards.

What’s good about Ladybug Armor

  • Each piece increases your blocking strength so you’ll be able to block without enemy attacks breaking your block.
  • This has the highest amount of armor of all armors in Grounded and can take more of a beating than other armor in the game.
  • The best part of this armor is the scarlet embrace perk, with this amazing perk you slowly regain health just by wearing the full set.
  • It looks amazing and makes you feel ready to face the horrors of Grounded.

How to get Ladybug Armor

  • You’ll have to fight and kill a ladybug, you need some kind of armor and a weapon because this fight will test your metal. After you kill the ladybug research it and you’ll unlock the ladybug armor in the workbench.
  • You’ll need berries and flower petals to make this amazing armor but those are the easy parts you’ll need to grab.
  • You’ll need 1 ladybug head, 11 ladybug parts, 11 berry leather, and 6 flower petals to make a full set of this super-strong armor.

1. Spider Armor (Best for Late Game)

Stalking with friends in the Spider Armor

This armor is the hardest to get in the game but is well worth the risk for the benefits. It offers great armor as well as two great perks that help late game when fighting any insect that dares cross your path.

What’s good about Spider Armor

  • The protection you get from this armor is nothing to laugh at; it'll keep you safe from any insects you will have to face in Grounded.
  • Just one piece of it increases your stamina by a huge amount, with a full set you’ll never get tired and you will run faster with the perk hunter's prowess.
  • You get to tell your friends you conquered a nest of spiders for this armor.

How to get Spider Armor

  • You will have to fight one of the most dangerous creatures in the game, an orb weaver spider, and defeat it to research the spider parts to unlock it.
  • You’ll also need berry leather which is researched from berries.
  • For a full set, you’ll need 2 spider fangs, 11 spider chunks, 8 spider silk, and 7 berry leather and make it on a crafting bench.

How to be a Spider Hunter

Honorable mentions

Some armors are great but are not part of a set or have other reasons why they aren’t in the main list that are extremely useful throughout the game for exploration and combat.

What they are and what they do

  • Gas mask- The gas mask allows you to fight stink bugs easier and go through the toxic area in Grounded, if you haven’t made one it is definitely a necessity in your gear. You’ll need 1 weevil nose, 4 gnat fuzz, 2 woven fiber, and 1 stink bug part.
  • Eye patch + -This headpiece is by no means the strongest but the bonus it gives to attack and stamina makes it worth building if you still have clover armor. 1 woven fiber, 2 fiber bandage, and 1 sap are needed to make this headpiece.
  • Aphid slippers- These slippers look so comfy and grant an incredible boost to sprint speed that is second to none. These aren’t hard to make either but they do not give much armor so if you’re going to fight change them for better armor. You’ll need 2 raw aphid meat and 10 mite fuzz to make these slippers.
  • The Rotten Bee set- This armor is very useful but is not craftable and has no set bonus so it doesn’t get a space in the main last. It’s been shown that bee armor will be craftable in later updates to the game, we’ll see how the game grows with time. To get this armor it’d be best to wear the ant armor set because it is spread out down an anthill that is protected by ants.
