It’s hard to make a spooky horror game when it has a multiplayer - you can find comfort around your buddies, always feel less alone and isolated when monsters are chewing on your legs or zombies are chasing you. These games though might prove to be an exception though - I’d like you to read my article and come to your own conclusions. Let’s begin!
15. Back 4 Blood
As awesome as this game is, I expected it to be better than L4D2, but nonetheless - this game is awesome. It’s the same company that made the Left 4 Dead series and you can expect a 4-player co-op, where you’ll go on a journey filled with hordes of zombies and overgrown, zombie-like monsters on steroids. The game is awesome and still relatively new, so you can expect more to come!
14. Dead by Daylight
The last time I played this game was back in 2017, I can only remember some ski-mask sociopath chasing me with a machete. My job was to turn on generators and kite the murderer. At times I’d have to pull my dumb teammates from hooks, sometimes troll them, and get flamed by them afterwards. The game is fun, plus it has a ranking system!
13. Phasmophobia
So what’s this game? This game will be about you and your friends gathering evidence of ghosts in certain haunted buildings. You’ll have many tools at your disposal, willing to cooperate with your other teammates is crucial, thus you should limit your trolling and flaming. The game is cool and fun and pretty popular!
12. Hunt: Showdown
This one is a first-person shooter, where you’ll hunt other monsters for treasure, newer weapons, gold, and many more useful things that will increase your chances of survival. Besides loot, you’ll also have to cooperate with one of your buddies - that’s crucial, monsters in this game ain’t exactly easy to kill, and you might have to worry about other players as well…
11. DEVOUR
Another co-op game for max. 4 players. This game made me crap my pants, hide under my bed and suck on my thumb like a baby that took a crap in its diapers. Stop a bunch of cultists from conjuring even more disturbing monsters and hold hands with one of your friends, so you don’t die of a heart attack!
10. GTFO
Probably one of the most atmospheric, co-op horror games out there. It’s also not easy to play, the developers insist that players must value teamwork over anything else and that this game is far from a simple shooter. Gather resources that will help you in the future and experience more dangerous locations!
9. Don't Starve Together
Is this even a horror game? Apparently, it is. I suppose there are some horror aspects behind this game, it’s relatively hard to play and filled with disturbing-looking monsters. Build a base, choose your character and try to survive in this harsh, unforgiving game. If you like to play top-down, cartoonish-like graphic survival games, then this one is definitely for you!
8. Resident Evil 5
I remember playing this game back when I was around 10 years old. Good times, I remember being in some area filled with spooky zombies, in some 3rd world poophole in the middle of nowhere. It was just a demo, but I loved it anyway.
In terms of the plot, another strain of a virus has emerged - your job will be to fight through other hundreds of zamwbies to stop a bad doctor and bla, bla, bla. Fun game, but with a so-so plot!
7. Lunch Lady
You and your other friends decided to break into a school in order to steal answers for an upcoming test, unfortunately for you, there’s some hideous, fat cow chasing you and wishing to probably consume you. If I was one of the kids, I’d bang my head through a glass window and bail out of the school, but these kids are hardcore and will dedicate their lives to find the answers for the test - that’s around 10 pages. Good luck!
6. 7 Days to Die
Another zombie game, this time you’ll go on an adventure where you’ll most likely die if you don’t know what you’re doing. The first time playing this game might prove to be quite difficult, zombies will remain relatively slow at daylight, but at night - that’s when the poop hits the fan and you will have to find shelter. Let it be a house, dig a hole and hide under it and wait it out. The game is like Minecraft, but with better graphics - sick and fun to play!
5. Pacify
An old abandoned mansion for you to explore. Don’t worry, there won’t be any ghosts. Totally. Nevermind. Just a little girl with a slightly disfigured face that will chase you in all parts of this cursed house. It’s unclear why you even went there, even the neighbors were saying that it’s a cursed place. So now you’re gonna be suffering in that hellhole for who knows how long. Have fun!
4. We Were Here Together
I think I’ve played this game a while ago with my friend. He was stuck in a room and he started freezing to death, I laughed at him and he died. Good times. Anyways, the game will revolve around you and your friend resolving puzzles and even more puzzles. The game is fun and you don’t have to worry about not being able to run it. The game has a storyline that has to do with an unknown clown. He’s evil or something!
3. Night of the Dead
An addicting zombie survival game with a wave system. Build a base and fight off massive waves of pissed off zombies or heavily mutated creatures that are 20 times your size. Upgrade your base with materials that you can gather from the world, make sure to keep yourself stocked up on food, set up traps, and prepare for a slaughter!
2. In Silence
A game with fun mechanics and a terrifying monster. Luckily for you, he’s blind(haha, 4 eyes!), but he has incredible hearing. If you snap a branch or anything else, he will most definitely mess you up. The design of the monster itself looks terrifying, he’s fast and hungry. You can either hunt him or kill him - up to you and your other friends!
1. Friday the 13th: The Game
It’s like Dead by Daylight but slightly more realistic. It’s similar, but not exactly the same. You’ll have Jason chasing your miserable butt with his famous machete - hide, run, escape - do anything that you can to defeat the spooky, mass murderer. Another thing that’s worth adding are the graphics in this game - they’re high-quality and serve to please your eyes. If you’re gonna be hacked to death, it has to look nice. Fun and addicting gameplay, terrifying atmosphere, and driveable cars - try it out!
