Life is an intricate network of events, times, places, and people, with every tiny decision having an impact on the events that take place in the future, even if the consequences are as minor as a missing button, a uniquely beautiful photo, or any number of other tiny details.

The consequences can also be major, to the extent of determining whether a person lives or dies. Progressing through life is like trying to build a puzzle without having all the pieces. ‘Syberia: The World Before’ explores the ideas of tragedy, freedom, choice, and the complex puzzle of life.

In ‘Syberia: The World Before’ players alternate between playing as ‘Dana Roze’ and ‘Kate Walker.’ According to developers, Dana “is beginning a brilliant career as a pianist,” but her world is rapidly overshadowed by the events leading up to the start of World War 2.

Kate, on the other hand, is living in more modern times, with her story taking place in 2004. Kate is imprisoned in a salt mine, but reportedly a “tragic event” sets her on a new path to discovering “her identity.”

Players must play as both women, navigating the complex intricacies of their lives and solving complex puzzles and riddles to piece together the stories of Dana and Kate. Their quest will take players on a journey through time and around the world.
