Sands of Salzaar, an indie strategy RPG game, has just gone live on Steam with an official 16 December 2021 release date.

Sands of Salzaar is developed by Han-Squirrel Studio and published by X.D. Network Inc. The open-world strategy-action RPG takes place in a massive desert, where players must build up their army from a single unit and fight rival factions for control and spoils.

Players are able to customize their ‘hero’ with a variety of unique skills and abilities, while also being able to determine their strategy and path in the game. Players can choose to develop specific skills to allow their champion to specialize in specific areas, for example, making them a “martial arts master” or a “powerful arch-mage”.

Customization of abilities allows players to choose to follow a path as a powerful warrior, or perhaps, as stated in the official description on steam, a wealthy trader. There is total freedom to customize heroes to be exactly what players want them to be, no matter how crazy they may sound on paper.

Players can explore an open-world map, complete quests, and form alliances. The game also includes AI revolts in conquered territories and utilizes a more advanced social relationship system that allows diplomacy to play a more prominent role in the way players approach the game.

Sands of Salzaar requires only 4GB of storage space. The game is available on Steam for $14.99, but is currently on sale at a 40% discount, bringing the price down to $8.99.
