‘FAR: Changing Tides’ is a perfect example of how the gaming industry explores new avenues of novelty within existing game genres. The RPG genre has evolved significantly since its inception, with better graphics, updated game mechanics and controls, and storylines suited to modern taste.

In ‘FAR: Changing Tides’ players take on the role of a small boy who is trying to survive alone in a world that has been almost completely flooded by water.

The boy doesn’t have much, to begin with, but he does have a ship that can be used to explore the world and sail the oceans in search of new locations and treasure such as ship upgrades and better gear and weapons sunk in the dark gloomy deep.

According to developers, ‘FAR: Changing Tides’ is developed to be a “meditative experience” with a “meditative approach” to completing tasks such as lowering sails, raising anchors, repairing leaks, etc. The carefully designed environmental soundtrack adds to the meditative experience.

Players must survive violent storms and intense weather conditions as they sail the oceans of the world, and they must do so alone.
