The American Civil War was pivotal in shaping the United States of America into what it is today. The Confederates in the South fought to maintain things the way they were and still legally keep slaves. The Union in the North fought for the freedom of the slaves.

‘Battle Cry of Freedom’ takes players back to the time of the civil war in America, allowing players to play as either Confederates or Unionists. The choice is up to them. The game features “massive multiplayer battles” with players being able to fight both in third-person and in first-person.

The game features a wide range of realistic weaponry from the time, including muskets, pistols, bayonets, sabers, and more. Furthermore, players are able to “enlist” in various military branches, including artillery, infantry, cavalry, or even specialists that were sent on dangerous military missions behind enemy lines.

Environments are destructible, allowing players to raze buildings to the ground, dig trenches, or alternatively, put up barricades, sandbags, and other defenses.

A number of other features include dynamic time and weather, as well as historically researched maps of 14 different battlefields from the time.

Besides the violent multiplayer battles, the game also includes a “commander” mode.

Players play as military commanders in charge of an army of AI bots in servers with up to 800 AI characters. They must use strategic decision-making, resource management, and tactical cunning to overcome the enemies and prove their superiority as military commanders.
