Everyone needs something to help them wind down after a busy or stressful day at work, or even at home. Sometimes, conducting simple repetitive tasks with rewards for tasks completed can be the perfect way to work off stress, slow down, and enjoy a moment of relaxation.

‘Arcadius’ capitalizes on the idea that repetitive, rewarding tasks are a great way to relax and slow down, relaxing physically and mentally. The game centers its entire concept around simulated resource gathering, with in-game rewards such as XP for resources collected. 

According to developers, the more resources collected, and the rarer those resources are in-game, the more players will earn for their ‘work.’ Resource collection and processing takes place in several levels of complexity, with players being able to complete primary, secondary, and tertiary steps.

Players are able to fish with fishing rods crafted from collected resources, mine with crafted tools, smelt ore that has been mined, and upgrade tools that have been crafted. Fish can earn players money or XP, with rarer, bigger fish bringing in significantly more money than common fish and small fish.

Players can explore the two islands that form the world of ‘Arcadius,’ but must take caution not to drown during the swim between the two. In addition to collecting and processing resources, players can also hunt for unique collectible items. The more collectibles players own and the more collections of resources they complete, the higher their XP earnings, and their mood-booster, will be.

‘Arcadius’ is developed by ‘Trillium Studio Ltd.’ and released on Steam in February 2022.
