10 Easter Eggs Found in Maneater

10 Maneater Easter Eggs
Many secrets are hidden in the seas

Maneater is an open world action RPG, where you control a shark. Being an open world game, you can freely explore the world and find various landmarks throughout. Tripwire Interactive took advantage of this feature, and planted several Easter eggs throughout the game. Here are 10 of them that you can find in the game, referencing various forms of media.

Spongebob Squarepants

Even if you don’t watch Nickelodeon, there’s a good chance you will recognize this Easter egg from the show Spongebob Squarepants. Here we get to see his signature house; a pineapple under the sea.

Arrested Development

This next landmark references a recurring gag in the early seasons of Arrested Development. The Banana Stand was a place of business the Bluths owned, and George Bluth would constantly state “There’s always money in the Banana Stand.”

IT

The title character of IT makes an appearance in this Easter egg. The clown just stands there behind the grate, as if inviting you to follow him in, while holding his red balloon.

Cast Away

Being found on a small island, this landmark has many items found in the movie Cast Away. You can see the boat, a help sign and even a volleyball, representing Wilson.

Happy Gilmore

Another landmark above water, this one references the movie Happy Gilmore. Here the narrator mentions Doug Thompson, a character in the movie, and you can see hockey sticks on the ground, which the main character uses for golf at times.

Peter Pan

This landmark references the classic Peter Pan story, specifically the crocodile that takes Captain Hook’s hand. Here you can see a statue of that crocodile eating a clock.

Kaiju

This next landmark doesn’t reference any movies or games specifically, but rather Kaiju in general. For those that don’t know, the word Kaiju refers to giant monsters in various forms of media, from Godzilla to the monsters of Pacific Rim.

This landmark shows a giant door in the ground that separates us from them. Luckily this door does not open, allowing the Kaiju to rampage.

Titanic

Said in-game to be a replica of the famous Titanic, the narrator explains that this ship sunk on its maiden voyage as well. As an extra nod to the movie, you can even see two figures at the edge of the ship, replicating the iconic scene with Jack and Rose.

Subnautica

This base is a reference to the bases seen in the Subnautica game. You see these bases throughout the game, and one seems to have been built in the world of Maneater as well.

Cthulu

The Great Old One Cthulu makes an appearance in this game in the form of two statues. The first being as a statue standing in the middle of a swamp, while the second has a statue of just his face underwater.

There are plenty of other landmarks spread throughout the game, with many of them containing even more Easter eggs. Odds are Tripwire Interactive hid even more in the world for players to find!
