[Top 10] Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Best Farming Spots

Princess Zelda

In a world devastated by monsters and war, scavenging is an important part of society for the characters and game. Not only does it make sense for the story, but the open world of Tears of the Kingdom is a huge part of the appeal.

This land is so vast that it can be difficult to know exactly where to find certain materials and necessities, especially because many things have become less abundant since Breath of the Wild.

So here is our guide to the best farming spots in the game, so all you have to do is fill your pockets with everything you need.

10. Minshi Woods

How to Farm Bokoblin Horns

Start at Woodland Stable just a bit east of Hyrule Castle, and ride north into the Minshi Woods until you spot a red Bokoblin near the path carrying a basket. Be careful of bees and Aerocudas.

In Minishi Woods, a lone red Bokoblin is wandering around with a basket of five pieces of raw meat just waiting to be stolen. It’s an easy kill, and he drops more meat than you would get from killing other animals so you can live guilt-free knowing you’ve rid the world of an evil monster.

This enemy, of course, will respawn with every Blood Moon, so it’s a good place to keep in mind when you need meat in a pinch.

Aside from the Bokoblin, this is also a good place to farm herbs, mushrooms, and trees.

Why the Minishi Woods is a Great Farming Spot:

  • Aside from the Bokoblin, there are lots of other creatures that roam this area.
  • Lots of trees to farm as well.
  • Red Bokoblins are the easiest to defeat.
  • This enemy will respawn after every full moon.
  • There aren’t many enemies once you’re in the woods.

9. Lanayru Great Spring

How to Use the Hylian Pine Cone

Start at Zora’s Domain and head southeast towards Mount Lanayru. Nestled in between lies Lanayru Great Springs. While it may not look like much, you will be able to find Hylian Pine Cones all over the ground.

I always find myself coming back to Lanayru Great Spring for one thing: Hylian Pine Cones. While they only add one point of damage to any fused item, this material is one of the most useful in the entire game. Throw a pinecone in a fire and it will create an updraft reminiscent of Revali’s Gale.

As useful as Ascend is, I will forever miss Revali’s Gale. There are just certain places you cannot reach without an updraft, so these little pinecones are like gold.

If you go before completing the Zora part of the main quest, this area will be covered with sludge and enemies, so be careful.

Why Lanayru Great Spring is a Great Farming Spot:

  • Lanayru is more user-friendly to get to than Hebra which is the other place that has pine cones in abundance.
  • There are many other side quests you can explore while you’re here.
  • You don’t even have to waste weapons by cutting trees because there’s usually plenty already on the ground.

8. West Hebra Sky Archipelago

All Hearty Salmon Locations

Start at the Wind Temple in the Hebra Sky and glide southwest to where there is a cluster of sky islands together. Glide to the biggest one and you should see two small ponds on the map.

This cluster of sky islands is a great place to farm Hearty Salmon. It’s an easy location to get to from the Wind Temple, and once you make it there once then you can complete the Ijo-o Shrine for easy access. This is a peaceful island with no enemies, just make sure you don’t accidentally go to the higher, circular island or you may find yourself facing off with the Scourge of the Hebra Sky.

Why West Hebra Sky Archipelago is a Great Farming Spot:

  • These islands are peaceful and enemy-free.
  • You can find fairies around the ponds.
  • There are chests in the water.
  • When cooked, Hearty Salmon can add extra hearts.

7. The Great Abandoned Central Mine

How to Farm Zonaite

Start at the Great Plateau North Chasm and dive through the chasm to the Depths of Hyrule. Go to the lightroot nearby, light it up then head southwest and follow the mostly linear path to the mine.

Zonai-related materials are hugely necessary or else you will have a hard time advancing in the game. Zonaite is the base ore that powers everything, so having a lot of it is a good thing, and you won’t find a better place to mine Zonaite than in the Great Abandoned Central Mine.

Do make sure you collect some Brightbloom seeds before going down into the darkness.

Why the Great Abandoned Central Mine is a Great Farming Spot:

  • Zonaite is pretty hard to come by on the surface and sky, despite how useful it is.
  • Enemies are also mining it so they will drop it once you kill them.
  • In terms of traversing the depths, this is a fairly easy place to get to.

6. Great Fairy Fountains

Fairy Spawn Locations

Start at Woodland Stable and head Northwest up the trail until you see the Great Fairy Fountain on the left side of the path. It’s actually quite close to the Red Bokoblin from earlier.

There are four Great Fairy Fountains in total found in Tears of the Kingdom and each one is a great place to farm fairies. Fairies are sweet little creatures with healing abilities that you can keep in your pocket.

If you have fairies with you when you lose all your hearts, they will automatically heal you. You can also cook them into elixirs and food to gain extra hearts, but it feels a little messed up to do that.

Unfortunately, the fairies don’t show up until you complete the sidequest “Serenade to a Great Fairy” which begins at Woodland Stable.

Why the Great Fairy Fountain is a Great Farming Spot:

  • There are usually at least three fairies.
  • All great fairy fountains are close to a stable which means they’re close to a shrine and easy to get to.
  • The side quest is fun and actually advances the main story as well.
  • Go ahead and upgrade your armor while you’re there.

5. Retsam Forest

Retsam Forest Cave

Start at Hateno Village and head Northeast to Retsam Forest. It is just behind the Mayahisik Shrine.

Retsam Forest is a catch-all for materials as you can find almost anything you need here. Come here to fill your pockets with wood, crickets, herbs, and mushrooms. There’s also plenty of deer and boar that come by. It’s also right by Lake Sumac which is filled with fish.

Why Retsam Forest is a Great Farming Spot:

  • Very easy to get to.
  • Easy enemies.
  • Lots of different things to farm.
  • There’s a Bubbul Frog in the cave.

4. The Forest Behind Kakariko Village

East Hill Chasm

Start at Look Out Landing and ride South East on the trail. It’s an easy ride to Kakariko Village. From Makasura Shrine at Kakariko, you will have to cross the village and head northeast.

This is a bit similar to Retsam Forest in that there are many honeycombs, herbs, mushrooms, and trees. The main difference is that this forest is right next to East Hill Chasm, so you can get into the depths and collect Poe or Zonaite, as well.

Aside from bees and one blue Bokoblin, there are no enemies here. Plus, you can often spot the dragon Naydra flying above or into the chasm.

Why Kakariko Village is a Great Farming Spot:

  • It has a little bit of everything.
  • Again, it’s very easy to get to.
  • Only one enemy who is easy to fight.
  • Can go down into the depths and get some depths exclusive materials as well.

3. Eldin Canyon

Where to Farm Rare Ore

Start at Central Hyrule and make your way northwest towards Death Mountain. Eldin Canyon is at the base, so it’s actually far enough from the heat that you don’t need to wear flame-resistant armor.

The Eldin region is home to the Gorons, the rock people of Hyrule. They eat rocks, mine rocks, and are rocks. So what better place to find rocks than this region? Not only will you find ore deposits scattered throughout the mountains, but Eldin is filled with caves that also have ore in them, many of which contain rare stones.

There are also five Igneo Talus located in Eldin which will all drop highly valuable precious stones.

Why Eldin Canyon is a Great Farming Spot:

  • There are many different types of ore deposits.
  • Higher abundance of rare ore.
  • Every single cave will have at least one ore deposit, but likely more than that.

2. Tabantha Tundra

Where to Find Raw Gourmet Meat

Start at Rito Village and go northeast past Hebra mountains where you will find the Tabantha Tundra. This is a large open space where you will encounter many enemies like the Giant Frost Gleeok.

Hebra is the rigid tundra that lies to the Northwest of Hyrule. It’s home to the Rito who can withstand the cold temperatures, as well as many other huge beasts, making this a great place to farm gourmet meat. Just make sure you pick it up quickly or else it will freeze.

You will be able to find Great-Horned Rhinoceroses, Tabantha Moose, and Grizzlemaw Bears which all drop gourmet meat. Make sure you have a good weapon though, as these animals are hard to kill and will fight back.

Why Hebra is a Great Farming Spot:

  • Gourmet meat is hard to come by, but you can be sure to find it here.
  • There is enough space to avoid the deadly enemies.
  • Raw gourmet meat heals three hearts on its own.

1. Satori Mountain

How to Find Satori Mountain

Start at Hyrule Field and head west. You can climb the mountain to reach the cherry blossom tree or head into the caves.

This beautiful tribute to Satoru Iwata is one of the most serene and peaceful places in Tears of the Kingdom. It almost feels like an escape from all the monstrosities and hate that spreads across Hyrule.

Satori Mountain is fruitful and is the best farming spot in the game. About halfway up the mountain, there’s an apple grove with as many apples as you’ve ever seen. You can find at least ten golden apples every time.

There’s also an area where clusters of deer and birds relax as if they too feel the positive energy. Be careful not to spook them.

At the top of the mountain by the cherry blossom tree, you can find about four Endura Carrots and Silent Princess flowers.

Why Satori Mountain is a Great Farming Spot:

  • Serene and beautiful spot.
  • Has an abundance of different rare items.
  • You can summon the Lord of the Mountain who can show you secret locations.
  • There is also a cave with a Bubbul Frog.
