[Top 15] Fallout 76 Best Weapons (And How To Get Them)

1. Alien Blaster

Best for being unique.

This is one of the rarest weapons in Fallout 76, it spawns only in one location. Scopes can be added and it shoots alien blaster rounds which can be converted to shoot fusion cells. It can be made legendary, but not found legendary. The most you can get out of this gun with the right cards and best mods is 70 energy damage. If it's a level 50 with AB rounds it can get to ninety-four if it has bloodied effect and you rock the bloodied build. If it has been converted to fusion cells then its energy damage is reduced but ammo is easily attainable compared to the AB rounds it originally takes. This is a show-off weapon. No plans are available, mods can only be obtained by scraping the gun with high intelligence. It can be found in the Toxic Valley region.

2. The Fixer 

Best for stealth.

(How To Get)

The Fixer is a quest reward from the Wolf in Sheep's Clothing. It can drop from enemies with legendary attributes or you can add them yourself. This gun gives you a stealth bonus that is similar to wearing Shadowed armor. Damage is increased by 20% and while sneaking so is movement speed. If you completed The Lowe-Down quest there is a 10% chance the plans will drop from the Encryptid event. This is the only way to get the plans.

3. Oathbreaker

Best for two-handed combat.

This is a quest reward for Over and Out. Some mods increase their different types of damage like fire, cyro, and even plasma effects. It has three legendary perks.  Mods can be acquired from Regs with gold bullion. This item can't be bought or sold. It can however drop as a reward for Daily Ops. Completing it on Elder will increase your chances of getting it.

  • Take 40% less damage while power attacking 
  • 40% more power attack damage 
  • Reduces targets damage output by 20% for 3 seconds 
  • Level Damage: 82+5% strength 
  • Speed: slow

4. Sheepsquatch Club

 

Best for use in power armor.

Who doesn't love a club? It's hard to find a decent melee weapon. Whatever enemies you encounter frequently, there is a mod for that. Fire damage, energy damage, even poison damage are some of the options. If you want to make it heavy you can. Mods are acquired the same way you get the item by completing the Free Range event. If all three brahmins survive you have a better chance at getting those plans. You want to get a hold of the mods, but you can get the club randomly from the Purveyor at The Rusty Pick.

5. Somerset Pistol 

Best for armor-piercing.

If you're below a level 50 this weapon is for you. The level of the weapon depends on your level. You can get it as long as you're at least a level 5 and complete the Final Departure quest.

  • Level 25 - Damage: 63
  • Level 15 - Damage: 56
  • Level 5 - Damage: 50

6. M2 Browning 

 

Best for most damage with a machine gun.

This is one of the best machine guns in Fallout 76. It requires high Strength. There are several ways to obtain it. You can get it when you do the St. Louis mission, and sometimes drops as a legendary.It is obtainable as a random spawn at a few locations. Plans sometimes drop from Scorchbeast, or you can purchase them from Raider Vendor Bots.

7. Plasma Caster 

Best for dealing  the most energy damage.

This packs a punch. As a bonus, you can goo enemies. You can make the gun drain targets fusion cores. Both plans and mods can be purchased from Regs with gold bullion.

8. Sheepsquatch Staff


 

Best for two-handed and looks extraordinary.

Similar to the Sheepsquatch Club, this has about the same mods.

Cosmetically it's epic. A skull on a staff? That's pretty metal. Gets more epic when you add fire damage to it. Making it a three-star adds icing to the cake. It's uncommon enough that you will hardly see others with it. Can be obtained from Free Range or Purveyor at Rusty Pick.

What it excels in:

  • Fire damage 
  • Electrical damage 
  • Bleeding damage

 

9. Meteoric Sword

  Best for durability.

This has legendary effects even though its status has changed. There's a slim chance of it spawning at the Breach and Clear event. It can be found in the same containers you collect scrap from during the event.

  • Weight reduction
  • Bleeding damage

10. The Fact Finder

Best for area damage.

The Fact Finder is received from the Mother of Intervention quest. It deals explosive damage and is an excellent go-to weapon if you're a fan of pistols.

11. Orbital Strike Beacon 

Best for being versatile.

Sometimes you get mad at a target and need a dramatic way to show that it has gotten under your skin. Maybe you want to scare a noob. This is your answer. It's unlocked after you complete the "One of Us'' quest. It's one of the strongest grenades in the game. Finding the stats for it proves to be difficult, however, the area damage is noticeably effective.

  •  Area damage 
  • Focused target damage

 

12. The Nailer

Best for Bloodied.

The Nailer is a Bloodied weapon you get from One Violent Night. It's received if you kill the Nightstalker with an unarmed weapon only.

13. The Unstoppable Monster 

Best for unarmed damage.

If you're not a fan of power armor and you like to run a melee build, you have to kill targets quickly. This will do just that. The extra claw mod is already attached when it's crafted. You can get the plans for the weapon now as a random reward for Daily Ops.

  • Damage: 55+10%×strength
  • Type: unarmed/melee 
  • Bloodied
  • 40% more power attack 
  • -40% damage taken while power attacking 

 

What it excels in:

  • Power attacks
  • Counts as melee and unarmed

14. Plasma Grenade 

Best for energy damage.

This is a powerful grenade that works epic against robots and comes in handy during the Encryptid event. It deals significant area damage. Receive plans from the Personal Matters and Earth Mover quests.

15. Nuke Mine

Best for planned attacks.

This is a landmine that causes radiation damage even after the mine is triggered. It helps run your favorite locations for Legendaries or supplies. Just lay them out and guide enemies. You can get them to run right into your trap!
