It is safe to say that one of the shortcomings of Assetto Corsa lies in its underwhelming weather simulation. It feels rushed to development and does not offer any varying weather conditions such as rain, snow etc instead only simulating the clouds to give a look resembling the above-mentioned conditions. SOL is one of the biggest blessings and is part of the holy trinity with the Content manager and custom shaders patch. It revamps the weather system entirely and provides a plethora of varying conditions to choose from while also adding the option of dynamic weather in the game.

As stated earlier, the holy trinity of mods is what elevates the Assetto Corsa experience to a whole new level. Custom shaders patch, CSP for short, acts as a graphic enhancement mod for the game. In vanilla form, Assetto does show its age especially compared to the new titles of this year. CSP however completely transforms the look to a point where visuals are even better than most of the racing games on the market. This all is bundled perfectly into the Content manager, an alternative launcher for Assetto that simplifies mod installation to a mere drag and drop system while also unlocking many settings to completely access the full potential of the mods installed. A must-have combo for all sim racers!!

Pure driving bliss. Those would be my three words to describe this mod. It’s brutal, it’s unforgiving yet the rewarding sensation one feels when you manage to tame the beast and put in a good lap time is unmatchable. Truly a quality mod and a gem in the game.

Like the Lola, this too reignites the passion for motor racing by taking one back to the grassroots of thoroughbred race cars. The danger and unpredictability coupled with that adrenaline when you get it right is translated beautifully through this near-perfect mod and is a treat for motoring enthusiasts who would like a challenge for themselves.

Who doesn’t love a good ol’ subbie!! The 22B defined the age of rallying and goes down as one of the most iconic cars to have ever competed in motorsport. The rendition of that car in the form of such a beautiful model offering a realistic handling experience is exactly what fills one with praise for the modding community of the game.

10. 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX (GD) Tuned
By far one of the most comprehensively detailed mods to have graced the game. The sounds are orgasmic and the car handles like a dream, making it fun for mountain passes, drifting or just casual racing. Or you could whip out the photo mode and observe in awe the beauty of such a creation.

Tribute Porsches have become increasingly relevant, especially in our contemporary world of auctions and collector cars. This example in the game is addicting to drive, easy to get used to but hard to stay on the limit and just carries a certain charm with it. She too will reward you with a level of pleasure as long as you respect its limits and treat her right.

8. Mercedes AMG GT3 EVO
Mercedes have enjoyed a great string of success in the gt3 series. So, it must only be apt for the game to include an updated version of the dominant 2020 Mercedes GT3 contender. Indeed, that is exactly what modders have done and they have yet again blessed us with one phenomenal mod. Everything from the general feel of the car to the looks even to the multiple livery options is down to a tee. The sheer pleasure of wringing such a balanced car’s neck around the fastest circuits is truly special.

Ever wondered what miniaturized F1 cars handled like? Did you ever want to experience the randomness of the top flight of motorsport in a downsized size while enjoying the randomness of Assetto at its finest? Look no further! Meet the Formula MAD mod. Based on a legitimate series, they almost hold a resemblance to toy F1 cars with go-kart-like characteristics. A very well put together mod and a riot to drive on the edge on any circuit you choose to use them with!

6. Nissan Primera BTCC
The BTCC series as a whole does not get enough credit and this 1999 Nissan Primera is the epitome of a proper driver’s machine. The mod manages to capture the road sense of this in a manner unlike others; the car urges you to push but the margin of error is very thin. Excellent model, brilliant sounds and a riot to drive make this one of the most desirable mods for the game.

Everyone appreciates the automotive culture of Japan. We long to have a taster of what one feels like blasting through the expressways leading into the heart of Tokyo. Well, that is now possible with this payware (worth it) mod; an ambitious take on hundreds of kilometres of uninterrupted expressway driving swerving through the outskirts and into the heart of Tokyo.

An essential part of British motoring history, the inclusion of Donnington park as a mod into the game is probably one of the best decisions ever. The laser scanned, free to obtain, the track is the definition of accuracy and allows one to stretch the limits of their car while enjoying the magnificence of such a track.

One of the crown jewels of American motor racing, yet so underrated at the same time. The fast chicanes and corners coupled with elevation changes make for exciting racing and the inclusion of the track in the form of this high-quality mod only adds to the illustrious portfolio of all-time great tracks in Assetto.

2. Road Atlanta
Another gem of American motor racing would be the Road Atlanta circuit. Famed for its GT class racing as well as historical track days, the circuit is unforgiving in its own right and has hosted top tier events. The track as a mod is no different and offers players a chance to tackle one of the best road courses ever made.

1. Macau GP
Fans of the feeder series of F1, F3, will recognize this track instantly. It is often touted as the crown jewel of F3. Like what Monaco is to F1, Macau is to F3. The track, a tight unforgiving street layout, always throws up a surprise and brings the best out of the drivers. The attention to detail of this mod in Assetto is truly mind-boggling, showcasing modding talent at its peak.
