E-sports is a huge and growing market, with many of the games we play each day having a competitive scene. The teams which form our E-sports shenanigans are insanely fun to watch, and they each have a fun history to follow. Watching E-sports and following the teams allows us to be part of history, as this scene will not stop growing, and now that it has its niche, E-sports will always be around.

This is my list of the top 10 E-sports teams. I based it solely off earnings from tournaments! These teams each have a colored history and line-up, and I encourage you to research them all.

1. Team Liquid

Team Liquid started out as a small team for Starcraft: Brood War in 2000 and has evolved to a huge Esports team. This name is now known across many games and the players being easily recognizable.

The renowned E-sports team is worth $21,428,213 and has participated in a grand total of 1340 tournaments. Team Liquid has many recognizable names like Pobelter and 72hrs.

2. Evil Geniuses

From humble beginnings in 1999, Team Evil Geniuses is now one of the leading teams in the industry. They boast having teams for 7 games, including DOTA and Rocket League

Evil Geniuses is coming in second in total worth from tournaments at $17,936,086. They include infamous names such as Arteezy in their roster.

3. Newbee

Newbee is a Chinese E-sports organization that focuses mainly on DOTA, however, they have had League of Legends and Hearthstone players in the past.

Newbee is worth about $12,672,785 from 125 tournaments. They do not include a League of Legends roster anymore, however they still include names such as Moogy and KaKa on their DOTA team.

4. Fnatic

  

Fnatic is a household name to League of Legends players. Founded in 2004 and based out of London, they are bringing E-sports into the mainstream.

They are worth $11,161,405 and 766 tournaments and have signed big names such as Rekkles and dennis.

5. Virtus.pro

Winning multiple DOTA tournaments and being a big name in CS:GO, Virtus.pro is a smaller, yet very successful, E-sports team.

They have won $10,295,186 in total, and have players such as Neo and Solo

6. Wings Gaming

Best known for being nominated in the best non-Olympic athlete category of the Chinese Top 10 Laureus Sport Awards, becoming the first E-sports club to be nominated, Wings Gaming was a former DOTA team.

The E-sports giant won over $9 million in 22 Tournaments. They signed players such as shadow and bLink.

7. LGD Gaming

Originally founded in 2009 for DOTA, and have since branched into League of Legends. Although the team has fallen short in League of Legends, they have had a presence in the DOTA E-sports scene since their inception,  and continues to dominate the battlefield to this day.

They have had popular names in their lineup such as imp, Acorn, and Chalice. They have won $8,724,641 over the course of 123 tournaments, mainly in DOTA.

8. SK Telecom T1

Although they support many sports such as basketball and baseball, SKT T1 has dominated for many years in League of Legends. Founded in 2002, and branching into E-sports in 2003, they are most notable for winning the 2013, 2015, and 2016 League of Legends world championship.

If you’ve played League of Legends, then you know the names Faker and Bang; both prestigious players are signed with SKT T1. The team has won $8,563,432 over 211 tournaments.

9. Vici Gaming

A gaming team based out of Shanghai, Vici Gaming has teams for multiple games. They have been a vicious contender in the DOTA scene since the team’s creation in 2012.

Vici Gaming has won $8,201,110 over the course of 242 tournaments. Most of these tournaments have been for DOTA, however, the team also has a presence in League of Legends and Counterstrike. The host players Ori and Fenrir on their roster for DOTA and Swift on their League of Legends team.

10. Natus Vincere

Lastly, Natus Vincere is a professional team based out of Ukraine. The team has had presence in a multitude of games, but the largest percentage of their tournaments is Counterstrike. Their League of Legends team disbanded, and the DOTA team is still in action.

$7,713,973 has been won by the team, over 379 tournaments. The team boasts names like Zeus and Edward on their Counterstrike lineup.

These teams are some the best around, and if you were to look at some the players the host, you would see why. The teams that these organizations have signed are amazing at the games they play, and they are what makes E-sports fun to watch. Sorry Silver League players (talking to myself, too), you’re just not as fun to watch as these pros!
