Top 5 State of Decay 2 Best Special Enclaves

Enclaves just pop in randomly on the game map and unfortunately, there’s no absolute way to determine whether they are worth keeping as allies as their benefits are randomly generated. There’s only a handful of enclaves that you can determine whether worth keeping based on your play style and these are the “special enclaves”.

These 3-man AI communities play a vital role in your gaming experience as they give a morale boost, resources income, and extra beds to mention a few. Additionally, you can recruit one of them though it will disband the group and you might miss the benefits they may offer. Thankfully, in the case of special enclaves, you already know the outcome of your actions and whether you’ll keep them due to their benefits or recruit them, the regret factor is less than gambling with normal enclaves which may or may not provide far more essential benefits.

Here are the Top 5 Best Special Enclaves you need to consider having in the game.

5. Enclaves Tied with Sheriff Leader’s Mission

The only circumstance that the normal enclave will be special is if gets involved with your Sheriff leader’s mission. Any enclaves in the map can call in for sheriff leader’s help and some of these quests are very beneficial, it is one of the most wished enclave benefits in the game.

Benefits of Sherriff Leader’s Specialized Enclaves:

  • Plague Heart Supplies
  • Any random enclave benefits

Typically, a regular enclave only provides one benefit. The only occasion that it can become two is if you are playing in lower difficulty or you have sheriff leader in any game difficulty. It is best that you only have few allied enclaves in the map if you are to put a sheriff leader. Once any of them call for sheriff’s aid, a successful fulfilment of that request will bear a generous amount of supply drop that cools down every 10 mins. This supply drop called Plague Heart Supplies typically includes two random resource rucksacks along with other essential items. Having two rucksacks in such short cycle (typical cooldown for other supply drops is 60+ mins) means you don’t have to grind too much on looking for rucksacks. Since this supply drop typically includes medicines, you can keep crafting health related consumables plus boost functionality of your medical facility. This benefit is on top of said enclave’s already great perks so be sure to watch out for this opportunity.

4. The Doctors

The Last Medics, Medical Miracles are just some of the names to recognize this special enclave. They are good for the early part of the game especially if you don’t have a medic in your team yet. Warning: They can be very tough to be allied with and they may not fit your playstyle especially in the mid to late game.

Benefits of The Doctors:

Ally Medical Advice Radio Command

  • Emergency Medical Supplies Radio Command
  • Knowledge of Medicine
  • Medical supplies trade partner
  • Potential great medical specialist recruit

The highlight of their benefits is the ability to call for medical supply drops. This includes a medicine rucksack and some valuable health replenishing supplies. They also come in handy when it comes to trading as they sometimes sell rare medical-related items.

Having them early on gives you knowledge of medicine if you don’t have a medic yet and it’s really helpful in healing your community via medical facilities. If you found yourself badly injured and ran out of painkillers, you can call them for medical advice to heal yourself. This group also sometimes has badass doctors that you can recruit for your community. Beware though as their quests are life-threatening that you may want to think twice about helping them.

3.  The Automechanics

"Do you have Jordan 191 Formula 1?"

One of the most entertaining special enclaves in the game as well as the hardest to be allied with. If you plan to save your community member’s slot to something else other than automechanics, this enclave is perfect. You can also stack their benefits to your existing automechanic member’s benefits.

Benefits of The Automechanics:

  • Deliver Salvaged Vehicle Radio Command
  • Knowledge of Automechanics
  • Car repair and car mods trading partner
  • Can be recruited (all 3 of them)

If you are up for some suicidal quests in the game, try to be allied with this enclave. But if you don’t want to take the risk, you may opt to just recruit them by denying their second request. They can be great automechanics or engineers. If you successfully fulfilled their troubles, you’ll have the ability to call for cars. Yes, they give cars which they will send near you if you ask for them (with cost). They are also great trading partners if you want to play like Michael Schumacher.

2. The Soldiers

The Grunts, The Frontliners are some of the alternate names of this group. They sometimes have Rambo-like members that you will salivate to recruit. This is a very flexible enclave that choosing to keep or disband might not give you regrets.

Benefits of The Soldiers:

  • Zero cost follower
  • Knowledge of Munitions
  • Potential warrior recruit
  • Explosives, gun and ammo trade partner

Getting them to allied status is not as bloody as those with mechanics which is ironic given that they are soldiers. With them, as allies, you can save a spot in your community for a munition expert as they provide knowledge of munition which is essential for crafting explosives especially C4. Now if you run out of money, you can enlist them for free but make sure you don’t enlist the one you want to recruit. There’s a 70% chance that your follower will die especially if you’re in a lethal zone.

These guys also have a pretty decent arsenal which comes in handy in the early game.

1. The Boozehounds

Imagine being in a post-apocalyptic world and some of your neighbors still couldn’t get enough alcohol in their system. Well, we do love alcohol. It makes us forget harsh reality and surely, it is essential in a dire and desperate situation like in a zombie-infested world. The Boozehounds (or any name that has something to do with being alcoholic) are your buddies for a couple of few of the best reasons.

Benefits of The Boozehounds:

  • Emergency Booze Delivery Radio Command
  • Knowledge of Alcohol Beverages
  • Bartender and chemist recruits

These enclaves are best allied if you are playing in Meagher Valley with Squeleones Brewing Company as your base. They can surely help you get rich on the said map.  Of course, if you are a fan of the maxed level distillery, these guys are your friends too on any map.

They drop rucksacks of food along with ethanol and some incendiaries to help you create alcoholic drinks or use them for your crafting. If you wanna save a spot for other skilled community members other than a bartender, you can also keep this group. Otherwise, you can decline their second request to recruit all of them which usually have bartenders and chemists. On some rare occasions, they do have pretty good community members who can contribute to your team. Beware though as trying to get them as an ally is not easy. Be sure to carry plague cure with you in their 3rd quest or you will fail to get their alliance.

Special enclaves surely add more fun to the game as getting them as allies test your fighting skills and patience. They are also a great source of recruits for your expanding community should you think that you don’t want them to fill the limited spot for enclaves on the map. They may spawn, they may not be sure to make your decision once they appear.
