15. Dark City (1998)

This film stars many reputable actors including Rufus Sewell, Kiefer Sutherland, and Jennifer Connelly. John Murdoch wakes up accused of murders he can’t remember committing. He has to figure out his identity and also deal with a group of beings known as Strangers.
When John Murdoch wakes up with no memory accused of murder he must try to figure out if he committed the crimes. At the same time, he is being chased by a group of shape changers and a police investigator.

This film was directed by Stanley Kubrick. It follows the story of Alex, who is played by Malcolm McDowell. Alex and his group of friends engage in random violence and other acts. Alex gets caught, and he is sent to receive therapy that will prevent him from committing any other crimes.
Alex, a man who believes he can do anything he wants without consequence is arrested. His treatment is visual and physical stimulation that causes a violent physical reaction whenever he sees or engages in violence. When he is released he wants to commit acts of violence but cannot due to the therapy he received.

This movie is about the uprising of Joker in the Batman films. Played by actor Heath Ledger, Joker is a seriously disturbed and disfigured villain. He is only concerned with creating violence and chaos, and his main focus is causing problems for Batman.
A film about the battle between good and evil, and what makes our decisions right or wrong. Batman has to defend those he loves while fighting off Joker, and making decisions that affect the good of all the people in Gotham.

This film is about the journey of two young lovers who go on a killing spree. It has awesome directing and is filmed in a way that brings attention to how the media impacts how we view things. And how the viewpoint media shows changes what we do in our lives on a daily basis.
Woody Harrelson plays Mickey Knox, along with Juliette Lewis as Mallory. They go across the country on a murder spree. A spree that the media hypes up which brings them infamy and fame.
11. The Crow (1994)

This movie is about a man who comes back from the dead to seek revenge for the murders of both him and his fiance. On the anniversary of their death, he returns and murders the people responsible. Strangely the actor Brandon Lee, who played rockstar Eric Draven, was killed during filming.
Brandon Lee plays rockstar Eric Draven. After his murder, a crow appears on his grave. He is brought back from the dead to avenge both his and his fiance's murders.

This movie has wonderful effects and animation. It is an epic war tale about the battle between Greece, in particular Sparta, and Persia. The Spartan Army is led by King Leonidas. His army is greatly outnumbered and this film shows the struggle and bravery their small forces endured.
King Leonidas fights a battle against great odds in this film. Leading his Army he shows no fear. His soldiers show unwavering faith in his ability to lead them even with insurmountable odds.
9. Planet Terror (2007)

This movie stars Rose Mcgowan as a stripper who cries onstage when she dances. She and a group of other misfits from the area get attacked by flesh-eating zombies. They band together to fight them off and expose the reason the zombies were made.
That’s right, she has a machine gun for a leg. After her leg is mauled off, her ex-boyfriend creates a prosthetic for her. She can walk and even fire the gun during the film. This film also stars Bruce Willis as one of the zombies, and the reason the virus spread.

This movie was released in a set with Planet Terror as Grindhouse Films. It follows a group of friends as they are attacked by a stuntman with a death-proof car. They eventually fight back, and a battle between the stuntman and the girls is waged.
Kurt Russell plays a stuntman in this film who murders young women. He follows them in their cars and uses his death-proof vehicle to kill them. But the last group of girls just won’t die. They take revenge on him using his own tactics.
7. The Lighthouse (2019)

After a storm, two lighthouse keepers are stranded on the island where they were stationed. One of them is in charge and constantly bosses around the younger of the two. They start to go a little crazy only having each other’s company and being stuck odds with each other and their environment.
Filmed in black and white, but just as interesting as if it were in color. Because your sight isn't used as much to watch the film, the sounds and effects are more intense.

This movie is pure action. After delivering a baby in a shoot-out a man named Mr. Smith decides to protect the baby. During the movie, he is constantly under attack trying to figure out why the baby is wanted dead and to keep both himself and the baby alive.
Clive Owen plays Mr. Smith in this action-packed film. After saving a baby he gets help from a hooker to protect the infant. The movie is packed with gunfights and a haze of bullets.
4. Spawn (1997)

Spawn is based on the comic book series of the same name. It follows a man who has been brought back from the dead to lead an army of Hell. After he is wrongly murdered and ends up in Hell, he gets an opportunity to return to Earth as a Hellspawn. He returns disfigured and still is a force for good, even when he’s being threatened by the Devil’s henchman clown.
The graphics and animation in this film were ahead of their time. A demonic clown teaches Spawn to use his powers gifted to him in Hell. But he won’t lead Hell’s Army and fights for good instead.

This film is based on the video game series of the same name. Max Payne is a police officer whose family was murdered. As he investigates their deaths he encounters a tattoo that leads to a ring of hallucinogenic drugs and supernatural forces.
Mark Wahlberg plays Max Payne, a policeman trying to discover why his family was killed. He uncovers drugs being used to make super soldiers. The drugs also caused hallucinations and were turned into street drugs that give superhuman abilities. But not without a cost.

The sequel to Sin City, this film brings back some of the original’s favorite characters. The stories have changed but the energy and action are the same. And this film definitely has Sin City’s own brand of vigilante justice.
This sequel is a thriller like the original. Full of action and animation. A couple of different stories, with the original actors. But also some new faces as well including Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
