[Top 15] Most Anticipated Games Coming Out In 2023

[Top 15] Most Anticipated Games Coming Out In 2023
HOLY MOLY THEY ARE FINALLY COMING OUT! 2023 IS GOING TO BE LIT!

What’s up, gamers? I have some great news for you; 2023 will be the best year in gaming. There are so many great games coming out, and old franchises are being revived. It's a Christmas miracle. From Alan Wake 2 to Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 to even goddamn Silksong, which was announced years ago, is being released this year.

If you’ve been wondering if you should be getting into gaming or have been putting off buying a new GPU or console, well, now is the time to do it. Today I’ll list some of the most anticipated games coming out in 2023 and list their release dates as well, so you can mark that date on your calendars. With that, let’s get into this article!

15. Echoes of the Living - Q4 2023 (PC)

Are you a boomer gamer like me? If you are, then there’s a game you should be excited about. You see, “Echoes of the Living” is a faithful recreation of the original style of Resident Evil games. By that, I mean that the game uses a fixed camera and the atmosphere just throws you back to the early 90s era of visual horror, and that’s one of the main reasons why the game is hotly anticipated to come out.

The main premise of the game is to survive the zombie apocalypse and find out what the hell went down. The game has a lot of unique puzzles and fun easter eggs to find. Most of the easter eggs are about the 90s era of video games, but that’s the fun part about it. The only downside is that it’s only coming to PC for now, and you can play the demo on Steam, which I highly recommend that you do as I’ve already played it a few times myself.

Fun Factor: 60/100

“Don’t you dare get up and try to bite me again!”

14. Animal Well - Q3/Q4 2023 (PC and PS5)

Are you looking for something relaxing that doesn’t have any combat, but you just can’t find anything? Well, let me introduce you to “Animal Well.” I’ll be honest, most of the time I play an RPG or something that has a lot of action in it, but sometimes I too like to unwind and play something relaxing where I don’t have to worry about dying.

The game has beautiful artwork, and the gameplay premise looks quite fun. If you were wondering what the hell you have to do, you pretty much run around collecting different items to unlock new areas and to survive something mysterious that lurks in the dark.

There is some mystery to the game, so get your tin foil hats on and get to thinking. One of the main reasons I found out about this game is from a YouTuber named “VideoGameDunkey,” and he’s also publishing the game himself, so you know from a pro gamer he is, this one is going to be good.

Fun Factor: 65/100

“This looks like a dream but I’m not dreaming… or am I?”

13. Men of War 2 - Q3/Q4 2023 (PC)

Finally, the long-awaited sequel to the hit strategy game “Men of War” is coming out, and I can’t wait to get my hands on this one. The game is set in the WW2 era and will offer different factions that you can play, along with unique units based on each faction.

The units and vehicles will be historically accurate, and the game will cover both the eastern and western fronts of World War 2.Thankfully, the developers will stay accurate to the era and won’t be adding any unnecessary bs to their game like “Call of Duty: Vanguard” did.

I mean, in Vanguard, you can turn a beautiful Thompson into a damn abomination that should be thrown into the deepest pit of hell where it can never come out of. But let’s be honest, the RTS market has been quite dry, and this one is damn needed to spice things up, so a lot of RTS fans, myself included, can’t wait for this one to come out.

Fun Factor: 68/100

“I can hear the actual sound from this picture and it’s the sound of fun!”

12. Homeworld 3 - Q3/Q4 2023 (PC)

Since we are on the topic of RTS games, I have to mention Homeworld 3. I jumped out of my chair when I saw that this game was coming out this year because this franchise innovated the RTS genre. It is an RTS in space, but unlike every other RTS that allows you to move your units in a 2D environment, this game lets you move them in a 3D environment.

If that doesn’t get you hyped up, I have no idea what will. You can move your units individually and create some tactics to annihilate your enemies, but the enemy can do the same, so be ready to use all of your brain cells to win. For me, it’s going to be quite hard, as the two brain cells I already have are fighting for dominance.

Fun Factor: 70/100

“I am about to pull off a 200 IQ move and make my enemies wish they never met me.”

11. Payday 3 - Q4 2023 (PC, PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X and S)

Do you just want to shoot people and not care where your bullets are going? It doesn’t matter if they are civilians, cops, friends, or even a whole ass wall. Well, if you are looking for a game like that, then Payday 3 is for you, my fren. I’ll be honest, I never in a million years thought that the devs would ever make a sequel to Payday 2.

I mean they said that they are ending the support for Payday 2 like 10 times and each time they came back and released a new DLC. The game is simple: you get a gun, you shoot, you get money, you get rich, and you do it all over again.

Payday 2 was one of the best co-op shooters on the market for the past million years, and I have so many great memories playing it with my homies. Just chilling in a discord call while it’s raining outside while racking up millions and millions of dollars in a video game. So damn fun and Payday 3 will be the same.

Fun Factor: 72/100

“Call the boys on a discord call, it’s time to make some money!”

10. Redfall - 2nd of May 2023 (PC and Xbox Series X and S)

2023 is the year of Bethesda Softworks, mark my damn words. Not only is Redfall coming out in May, but Starfield will also be out in September, making it probably the most anticipated RPG game of the year. Now Redfall is also made by Arkane Studios, who brought us the great Dishonored franchise and just a few years ago “Deathloop,” which won the game of the year as well.

Now when it comes to Redfall, it’s a four-player co-op that can also be played solo, but the co-op part will be way more fun. So get a friend or two to play with you to form some great memories. The story of the game is set in the fictional city of Redfall, which has been overrun by vampires and you have to drive them out.

To do that, you’ll be able to pick between four different playable characters, all of whom have different abilities. Of course, there is a character who can go invisible, and is mainly about sneaking up on people and killing them with a sniper, which is pretty much an archer stealth build from Skyrim in modern times.

Fun Factor: 75/100

“Let me check if friendly fire is enabled or disabled quickly.”

9. System Shock Remake - 30th of May 2023 (PC, Xbox Series X and S, PS 5, PS4, Linux,  and macOS)

Finally, a game that deserves a remake. This is System Shock; if you’ve never played it, I’m not gonna blame you; it is quite an old game. But if you don’t want to play the remake, you are missing out on a lot of fun. There is a free demo that you can try out right now, and if you have fun with it, maybe you will keep the game on your radar.

The game is about an AI that gains sentience, and to save itself, it goes rogue and kills everyone on the spaceship. Your job is to explore the spaceship and stop the rogue AI while trying not to poop yourself out of fear. It is quite a scary game.

The monsters aren’t that scary, but the atmosphere and the sounds are what get me every damn time. Also, for the players who have played the original and are worried about the devs not staying true to the original, do not fear, as the current devs have cooperated with the original people who created “System Shock” and they are staying true to their source material.

Fun Factor: 78/100

“POV: you just opened a pack of gum in college.”

8. Dead Island 2 - 21st of April 2023 (PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and X, PS4, and PS5)

I told you that 2023 is the year of gaming and sequels. A lot of people still don’t believe that this game is coming out, as it has been in development hell for quite some time now, but you can be sure that it is coming out. Dead Island 2 has some great visuals and graphics, and the artwork of the game looks cartoonish but realistic as well, which just adds to the Los Angeles aesthetic where the game is set.

The game is also coming with a brand new gore system called “Flesh System,” where a part of the body will be ripped out depending on what weapon you are using, and this is what zombie games are about. Mindless gorey fun where the story isn’t that important and the only main thing is about having fun and killing so many zombies in so many ways that you’ll feel like the John Wick of a zombie apocalypse.

Fun Factor: 80/100

“It is time to lock ‘n load! These zomboys won’t know what hit ‘em!”

7. S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 - Q4 2023 (PC and Xbox Series S and X)

Oi, comrade! Are you sure this game is coming out this year? Bljat, I am sure, and you better be ready as it is coming during the holiday season! If you’ve never heard of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, let me put it like this: It’s a hardcore Fallout game with a lot more bugs. The game is set in an alternative universe where the reactor at Chernobyl blew up and different anomalies came out of it.

You play as a S.T.A.L.K.E.R, which is a term for anyone who illegally resides in Chornobyl and seeks out a way to get rich. You can do quests for different factions or completely join one if they support your ideology. The game is a hardcore shooter at heart, and to put it lightly, it is not for everyone. But I can’t deny that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is one of the more anticipated hardcore shooters of this year.

Fun Factor: 82/100

“They don’t know that a cursed artifact is hidden in that tower. I’m about to be rich! - Last famous words of a new player playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R.”

6. Final Fantasy XVI - 22nd of June 2023 (PC and PS5)

Can you believe that there are already sixteen mainline entries of Final Fantasy? If we count spin-offs, there are 95 games in total. Talk about committing to a franchise. A fun fact about this franchise and its name is that the studio was about to go bankrupt, and in a last attempt to save the studio, they created Final Fantasy, and the rest is history.

When it comes to Final Fantasy XVI, it’s set in medieval Europe, and the world has been divided into six nations. The kingdom where the main character comes from is burned to the ground, and he sets out on a revenge mission.

While playing the game, you’ll be able to explore different areas, probably exterminate the monster population in the game so you can level up, and fully immerse yourself in the open-world experience. Oh, and I can’t forget that you’ll be able to do all of that while riding on a Chocobo, which is just a huge chicken but can run at 50 km/h or 30 mp/h.

Fun Factor: 84/100

“There are so many effects and things going on in this picture that it just proves it is a game from Japan.”

5. Armored Core 6 - Q4 2023 - (PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and X, PS5, and PS4)

Armored Core 6 is coming from the developers of Elden Ring, and you know it’s going to be a bomb of a game. The game is about huge ass mechs fighting while trying to save the world at the same time. But let’s be real, the game has mechs that you can customize and build however you want. What more could you ask for?

The story and premise of the game aren’t announced yet, but you can expect to find more info about it at E3 this year. All that is certain right now is that the game will have a lot of action and will probably be hard as hell but in a fair way, because that’s what FromSoftware is mostly known for.

Fun Factor: 85/100

“Mom said it’s my turn on the Xbox! GET OFF!”

4. Star Wars: Jedi Survivor - 28th of April 2023 - (PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S and X)

There haven’t been a lot of good Star Wars games recently, but this game is going to fix that. Star Wars: Jedi Survivor is a sequel to the acclaimed Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. I just hope that this time we’ll be able to get a red kyber crystal from the start of the game instead of having to complete the game to unlock it.

From the gameplay showcase, they have included a ton of new things that you’ll be able to do with or without your force abilities. The main character, Cal Kestis, has also learned some new moves, and I can’t wait to try them out on the Ewoks.

The game also has a soul-like feel to it like the previous game, which I only see as a good thing. The only thing they should do for the sequel this time is removing the difficulty setting because people need to get good. I mean, the hardest difficulty in the first game wasn’t even that hard, and I feel like it’s the only true way to play the game.

Fun Factor: 88/100

“You can never win, I have the power of God and anime on my side!”

3. Alan Wake 2 - Q4 2023 (PC, Xbox Series S, and X, and PS5)

Never in a million years did I think that we’d ever get an Alan Wake 2, but here we are. Oh boy, I am excited for this one, especially after replaying every single Remedy Entertainment game released. You see, every game that Remedy Entertainment has created is somehow connected in some way, and in the end, it all leads back to Alan Wake.

I already know that the storytelling is going to be unique and that Remedy won’t disappoint us.I can’t wait to continue the story of Alan Wake in the sequel after what happened at the end of the first game.

We will finally be put up against the darkness again, and we’ll have to banish it with our comically large flashlight. The only thing that I want from this game and the developers is that the game isn’t as cryptic as their previous two titles, Control, and Quantum Break. I seriously had to watch a full documentary to understand what the hell went down, so please don’t let it be so cryptic!

Fun Factor: 90/100

“It is time to return to Bright Falls once again.”

2. Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 - Q3/Q4 2023 - (PC, Xbox Series S, and X, and PS5)

BROTHERS, IT IS TIME TO EXTERMINATE THE XENOS ONCE AGAIN! FOR THE EMPEROR! Pick up your bolters and chain swords and get to work; there is no rest for us, there is only war! I am a huge fan of the Warhammer franchise in general, and holy cow, I can’t wait for this game to come out already! It has been so damn long since we’ve had a third-person Warhammer 40K game, and that’s not even funny.

The first Space Marine game is so damn good that even today people are playing it, and the multiplayer community is still alive. If you own the first game, do yourself a favor and replay it before this one comes out. It is a damn fun hack-and-slash third-person shooter that also has an interesting story behind it. Especially when you apply the insane size of the Warhammer 40K aesthetic to it.

I mean, this franchise has damn titans that carry huge churches on their backs. It can’t get cooler than that! I can’t wait to get my hands on this game to control a space marine once again and to use different weapons to exterminate the Tyranids off a planet. I hope that we will be able to battle a genestealer too, as those beasts can get massive in size and can be pretty damn deadly. A battle against a genestealer and a space marine is going to be legendary.

Fun Factor: 95/100

“It’s time to kick ass and chew bubblegum and I’m all out of gum!”

1. Starfield - 6th of September 2023 - (PC and Xbox Series S and X)

From the developers who gave us the most immersive RPGs of all time comes a new game from them, and its name is Starfield. I have been following this game since its announcement back in 2018, and I’ve been highly anticipating its arrival. When the game was delayed, my heart was shattered into a million pieces, but it’s back in place once again because it’s coming out this year in just 5 months! I can’t wait.

Starfield is going to be the best RPG game of the decade until Elder Scrolls 6 comes out. In the game, you’ll be able to explore a whole universe, discover its secrets, explore different planets, take on unique and interesting side quests, and you’ll even be able to build your spaceship however you want.

But the part that excites me the most is the character creation and how in-depth it is. Because you’ll be able to decide your traits, which come with their advantages and disadvantages, different life paths, and so on. It allows for so much replayability that you don’t even realize it. And the best part about this whole game is that it’s being made by Bethesda Game Studios.

Fun Factor: 100/100

“What the hell is that thing and why is it coming towards me? I need help… VASCO HELP ME IT’S TRYING TO EAT ME!”
