5. Eagle Shield (a great shield you can pick up)
 

This is the beginners Greatshield for want of better words. It's light, it's easy to get hold of and offers all the advantages of a great shield with less of the downsides. There are Greatshields with better damage reduction) and standard shields that do the same job, but for a light accessible shield of this class, this find in Blighttown is the way.

4. Bonewheel Shield (Best for a greatshield with an attack)
 

This shield makes for a specialist item with a wicked surprise. Much like its predecessor on this list, it’s one of the lighter of the Greatshields but its stand out quality is its attack. Instead of the standard shield bash, the Bonewheel shield has a spin attack that can hit well over 200 damage with the right buffs. Want a great shield you can take for a spin? Look no further.

• Second lowest parameter requirements
• Spin attack instead of bash

3. Stone Greatshield (Best for a ‘you shall not pass’ shield)
 

One of the monster shields available in the game, as substantial and weighty in appearance as it is to wield. Its weight is only bettered by one shield, (that comes with a very special ring to help with the matter) yet its remarkable resistances serve the player well. This stone stability machine can be found on the Great Stone Knights of Darkroot Garden.

• Great Magic resistance 
• Rare but workable drop rate

2. Havel’s Greatshield (Best for recoil in greatshields)
 

Just behind an illusory wall in Anor Londo is perhaps the ‘go to’ great shield of the entire game. This huge, hulking rack of dragon scales will weigh you down by 26 units, the heaviest the game has to offer. Yet, the stability and recoil rate of this thing will keep you well protected against any and all.

What makes Havel’s Greatshield great: 

• Not hard to find
• No need to reinforce
• Special Stoneskin buff
• Can stagger the legs from under enemies

1.Greatshield of Artorias (over all best)

With one visit to the Giant Blacksmith in Anor Londo and this remarkable Greatshield can be yours. Just the soul of a rather large sword wielding wolf and you can ascend any +10 shield. It’s consistent ability to protect a player from status effects is worth its weight, alongside the high stability it comes with. Though be sure, this Greatshield will demand a lot of strength from you.

What makes Greatshield of Artorias great:

• Best performance of all Greatshields – damage reduction and high deflection rate
• Reasonable weight for its class
• Attacks blocked will not cause any status effect
• Highest durability in game
