[Top 10] Best Spy Cartoons of All Time (Best Secret Agent Cartoons)

Best Spy Cartoons
It's no secret we preferred this over the 60s version.

10. Kim Possible

A smart, witty highschooler takes on dangerous missions around the world. Basically just the norm for Kim Possible. Accompanying her is best friend Ron Stoppable and his pet naked mole rat Rufus. Together, they take down Dr. Drakken and his henchwoman Shego, while taking on the challenges of minimum wage jobs, high school crushes, and slowly developing feelings for each other over time.

How could this show NOT be on the list?

While her reputation is not really a secret (her whole high school is always alerted whenever she needs to go on a world-saving mission), she is among the best spy-centric characters ever animated.

She was one of the best things given to us by Disney.

You know, before the company became a greedy, ass-holic monopoly that cancelled shows on a whim.

9. Totally Spies!

Alex, Sam, and Clover may seem like your typical Beverly Hills girls. However, despite being high schoolers who obsess over boys and fashion, just beneath the surface are three world-saving heroes. They’re spies. And they definitely got you covered!

Some of us thought this was an anime before Googling it.

I remember this when Cartoon Network was really, really good. This was true childhood.

Growing up, we were completely in awe of how glamorous this show made being a teenager was. We all wanted to live the Beverly Hills lifestyle like these girls!

Some of us wanted to be a role model like Sam.

Others wanted to be a fashion model like Clover.

And then most of us realized we were more like Alex (which is just as good!).

8. The X’s

A seemingly average family that’s not exactly average. In fact, they TRY to be. But usually it ends with explosions, and talking about how they saved the world during dinner.

I still can’t believe Nick pulled the plug on this. Only 20 episodes and then suddenly it’s completely wiped off the schedule!

This was close to an Incredibles TV series as we would EVER get.

Also, can we acknowledge that Tuesday is practically the Kim Possible of the group?

Seriously, who would win in a fight? Tuesday X or Kim Possible?

7. Fresh Beat Band of Spies

One of Nick Jr.'s best sitcoms becomes an animated series featuring the main cast as themselves. But SPIES! Twist, Shout, Kiki, Marina, and their pet monkey Bo go out of their way to take on any problems. Whether it’s a trophy-stealing bandit. An edgy hairstylist who turns the entire population into werewolves. Or someone trying to impersonate and frame the Fresh Beats for crime. With the power of song and teamwork, the problem can always be solved!

One of the few good Nick Jr. shows that aired. And one of the few Nick Jr. shows that wasn’t animated in 3D crap.

While the show tended to be cheesy at times, it was actually pretty cool to watch. And while I wasn’t a fan of the live-action series, the cartoon made me fall in love with the main cast.

Kind of felt like a softer, more wholesome spin-off to The Fairly Odd Parents.

6. Danger Mouse

Self-proclaimed “World’s Greatest Secret Agent” Danger Mouse and his sidekick Penfold protect their world from various threats and dangers. Under the supervision of their boss Colonel K, followed by genius scientist Professor Squawkencluck, DM really does serve his title.

Whether you’re a fan of the 80s version or the reboot, we all know how badass this dude is!

And no matter which one, Penfold is still Penfold.

Secret agents?

British accents?

Furries?

Oh, hell yes.

5. Inspector Gadget

Cyborg police detective Gadget is always on duty! Whenever The Chief calls him for a mission, he’s ready. Alongside his niece Penny and canine Brain, Inspector Gadget ensures the world is safe from threats like Doctor Claw. Despite his cluelessness and  lack of common sense, he actually can do the job right.

This lovable dumbass detective won our hearts in the 90s.

Can’t exactly say the same for the 2015 reboot (it would have been better if it wasn’t in CGI!).

4. The Secret Show

Anita Knight and Victor Volt are among the agents working for U.Z.Z., a secret organization run by their commanding agent who’s name is always “changed daily”. Always saving the world from threats like the evil organization known as T.H.EM.. While also stealing the “timeslot” of The Fluffy Bunny Show.

This show is so underrated! Like Kappa Mikey!

One of my favorite things about this cartoon is the running gag of the guy who’s name is “changed daily”. It gets funnier with every new name!

And then there’s Anita Knight, who’s like Black Widow. But unlike BW, Anita isn’t fanservice.

Let’s not forget that Victor Volt got recruited at a COMIC BOOK CONVENTION. If someone like him could become a secret agent, pretty much gives us hope for opportunity too.

3. Codename: Kids Next Door

No matter what rules the adults enforce, the Kids Next Door come out to ‘play’. Numbuh 1 and his team of 10-year-old agents are part of a kids-only organization that fight the world of adult tyranny. Whether it’s boring school lessons. Disgruntled ice cream vendors. Or especially taking on The Delightful Children From Down the Lane, who are lead by their parental figure and boss, the dreaded Father.

Kids Next Door was a huge part of Cartoon Network awesomeness. And a big part of our childhood.

No matter how exaggerated they made “adult stuff” look in the show, it was always a great watch and NEVER boring.

The show made it seem like being an adult was a serious, no-fun role that hated ‘childish things’.

Dude, look at adults today! We’re practically more kids at heart than any of these “adult hating’ kid characters.

Hell, some of us are even more obsessed with Rainbow Monkeys than Numbuh 3 herself (and she is a die-hard Rainbow Monkey fanatic).

I would want nothing more than the spin-off featuring the Galactic Kids Next Door to happen.

As people who grew up with the original KND, it would be really great to see Numbuh 1 and the crew again.

2. Phineas and Ferb

What happens when you’re on summer break, and trying to find a way to spend it? Like maybe...building a rocket? Fighting a mummy? Or climbing up the Eiffel Tower? And all that happening while your pet is probably doing secret agent work and taking down some madman who’s got issues? Yup, that sounds like the perfect summer!

Whether you’re all about Phineas and Ferb’s antics.

Or watching Candace trying to bust them while being all lovey-dovey over Jeremy.

You have to admit, it’s the Agent P parts that MAKE this series.

Well, Agent P and Dr. Doofenshmirtz. You CANNOT have one without the other (that actually was an episode, it was so sad).

1. Super Secret Secret Squirrel

Originally a segment that aired in-between episodes of 2 Stupid Dogs, it focused on a cool, witty, charming agent known as Secret Squirrel. With his partner Morocco Mole, the two were often called in by The Chief to handle world-threatening issues. With gadgets under his trench coat and a deep care for his best friend and organization, Secret Squirrel always made it on top. Not without a few funny gags, of course!

Oh, my god, one of the BEST things from the 90s!

How many of us only watched 2 Stupid Dogs just so we could see Secret Squirrel?

How many of us even knew as kids that the show was a revival from the 60s Hanna-Barbera cartoon?

How many of us actually prefer the 90s version to the classic?

And how many of us now realize as adults that Secret Squirrel and Morocco Mole were basically Wakko Warner and Darkwing Duck?

You can have your Kim Possible and Perry the Platypus, but Secret really knew how to make a high-quality spy series!
