10. Time Squad
One day, 8-year-old orphan Otto Osworth discovers two people, a musclehead and a mannerly robot, who suddenly show up in his room. Introduced as Tudrussell and Larry 3000, they come from far in the future where there are “no wars, no pollution, and bacon is good for your heart”. They are called Time Squad, and they accidentally ended up in Otto’s time due to a misculation in history. Wanting to escape the orphanage, Otto joins them. As a lover of history, he gets to meet all the people he’s ever read about. But unlike the books, the people of history nearly RUIN history.
One of the most underrated yet nostalgic Cartoon Network shows of the 2000s.
It really sucked how it ended after only two seasons. And the series finale was total BS!
If CN could “reboot” a show (and do it CORRECTLY), then this is the one they need to bring back!
Considering this is a show about how people of a perfect future work to fix the past. I just want the IRONY to run deep considering our crappy modern society.
9. The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron
Based on the classic movie, Jimmy Neutron is a 10-year-old genius living in Retroville. Always coming up with the best inventions that earn him credit from even the President of the United States. Everyone knows he’s incredibly smart. Even rivals like Cindy Vortex who tries to outshine him through petty means. His inventions always go without trouble...depending on who uses them and isn’t a complete idiot.
I still can’t believe The Ant Bully movie is what ruined this series (IMO, it wasn’t an ENTIRELY bad film).
Fingers crossed this show gets a revival. Because those were the best days of Nickelodeon I really want back.
8. Danger & Eggs
D.D. Danger is the daughter of a temporarily out-of-commission daredevil who’s always looking for the next exciting adventure. Her best friend Phillip, an anthropomorphic egg, is always trying to be cautious and finding a safer solution. Together, along with their loving community, find enjoyment in the simplest things. Or the most extreme that comes from just stepping foot into the simplest ones. Whether mingling with a horde of raccoons. Going to a convention where everyone is named Phillip. Or accidentally discovering an underground civilization of mutated creatures.
You thought Bluey was creative and wholesome?
This show had that and a large love for the LGBTQ community.
It really sucked this show never got off the ground after just one season (not to mention the finale had a CLIFFHANGER).
I really loved how D.D. and Phillip navigated the world around in an optimistic, kindly manner.
And what made this a really good show was the love and support of their entire community. The last episode was even a dedication to Pride Month!
It would be really cool if this show continued. And hopefully on a more recognizable streaming service like Netflix or HBO Max.
7. Bee and Puppycat
Bee is a young adult woman who often has her head in the clouds. Or prefers to nap than work. Often getting fired from minimum wage jobs, she tries her best to be responsible. Her pal Puppycat, a mysterious alien, usually has her assist with his work. His occupation is just like any work Bee has attempted. Except it usually involves dealing with ill-mannered creatures. And it’s usually a good job.
If Steven Universe was aesthetically pleasant with more likable characters (and by likable, I also mean they are NON-TOXIC).
It is a show made of sweet dreams.
But where there are dreams, there are nightmares. And this series can go from 0 to 100 real quick.
Don’t worry, if you were able to handle the scary sh*t they did on Adventure Time, you can handle this. And it doesn’t last long.
Bee also shows that if she can live her life despite what’s thrown at her, then we all can too.
6. She-Ra and the Princesses of Power
Rescued as a baby, Adora loyally serves The Horde, whom she firmly believes is an empire that fights against intergalactic injustice. Her entire viewpoint is challenged when her latest mission results in colliding with two members of a rebellion, Bow and Princess Glimmer. After realizing what exactly they are fighting for, Adora begins questioning the life she was given and the people who raised her.
If there was a battle of lesbian-centric cartoons, this would match against Steven Universe.
And possibly win.
5. Men in Black: The Animated Series
Whether you want to call it an alternate timeline, a spin-off, a sequel, a prequel, or even just plain movie-marketing. You have to admit that this show was as badass as the movie.
While they obviously couldn’t afford Will Smith to voice his character, Agent J, the VA for the show impersonates him pretty well!
Aliens! Agents! Cartoon violence!
This was Kids WB! This was true childhood!
4. Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero
Penn Zero may seem like an average yet charming go-to kid with a part-time job. But he’s not average. And his part-time job is being a part-time hero. And still charming. Along with friends Sashi and Boone, Penn gets zapped into different dimensions, taking on the identity of the hero who has to save it. All while dealing with the part-time villain known as Rippen.
UNDERRATED.
This show was underrated and Disney did not f*cking care.
They just let it roll for two seasons before tossing it away and pretending it never existed. Just like what they did to Kick Buttowski and Wander Over Yonder.
This show was a blessing that very few had the honor of knowing about.
Beautiful animation.
Amazing voice work.
Killer fight scenes.
And a LOT of fanfic fuel!
3. The Jetsons
If The Flintstones took place in the future. George Jetson is a mild-mannered loving father with a beautiful wife, two kids, a dog, and a robotic maid who’s just as significantly part of the family. In this slice-of-life of what a futuristic modern family looks like, nothing’s beyond the normality of high-tech appliances, spaceships, and a good meal made by robots with lots of sass.
Just like The Flinstones, this was a Hanna-Barbera classic close to our hearts.
When we were kids, we believed that by the year 2015, this was what our future would look like.
It’s 2021.
How many of us wish it was still 2015?
2. Sym-Bionic Titan
Lance, Ilana, and Octus are forced to abandon their planet and find refuge on what is known as Earth. There they blend in with human society while secretly training to avenge their fallen home. Pretending to be a modern family living in suburbia, they experience high school life while secretly battling monsters sent to destroy them. When working together using their battle suits, they form “Sym-Bionic Titan”.
Yeah, we’re not going to stop tagging Cartoon Network to bring this show back.
If Tartakovsky was able to finish Samurai Jack after a 12-year hiatus, it wouldn’t hurt to bring this show back.
1. Glitch Techs
Game lover teen known as Five competes at a tournament in hopes of beating one of the best online players and win a job at the famous Hinobi store. However, virtual reality turns out to be far more real as Five witnesses the video game characters suddenly coming to life. Along with another gamer named Miko, he discovers the secret behind the Hinobi store. And that working there isn’t just customer service. It means taking the role of a Glitch Tech. Taking down video game bosses just got more interesting!
The animation. The characters. The video game references!
Let’s not forget that we all ADORE Miko!
This show was reason #1 I subscribed to Netflix.
