Top 10 Games Like Overwatch: Ranked Good to Best
Yes, It Is Amazing, but Maybe We Could Try Some Other Games As Well

These 10 Games Are Very Similar to Overwatch And They Are Fun Too

Are you sick of playing Overwatch every day and want something different yet similar? We’ve got you covered. While Overwatch is a lot of fun and playing it can be very exhilarating, let’s not forget that there are other great multiplayer shooter games out there. We’ve compiled a list of 10 games that are similar to Blizzard’s multiplayer shooter and where the condition for victory isn’t always to eliminate the opposing team players. So pick your class, customize your skin, get on your team chat and let’s take a look at 10 games that are similar to Overwatch.

1. Team Fortress 2

“Open Steam, Pick Your Class, Saddle Up to Kick Some A**! Your Multiplayer Dreams Come True When You Play Team Fortress 2” by Brentalfloss

Once upon a time, before Steam even existed, Robin Walker and John Cook made an interesting mod for Quake. Valve saw the potential of the mod and asked the two to develop a standalone version of the mod for their game. Fast forward a few years later and you’ve got one of the greatest and most entraining shooter on the market. The very second Overwatch started getting some attention; many people were quick to point out the similarities between it and Team Fortress 2. In Team Fortress 2 you pick one of 9 different classes and proceed to complete your objective along with your teammates against the opposing team. Don’t try to be a hero in this one, as each class has its strengths and weaknesses and teams that stick together and work as one have a much better chance of winning. The game’s cartoon graphics and humor have made it one of Valve’s best games. If you’ve never tried playing Team Fortress 2, all you have to do is download steam and install this game. Oh, yeah… did we mention that it’s free. Out of all the games on this list, Team Fortress 2 is the oldest, but you’d never be able to tell just by playing the game because of how well Valve has been taking care of it. Watch out for that spy though!

2. Paladins

Sure, It Looks Just Like Overwatch, But That Doesn’t Mean Its Bad

Paladins is a brave game indeed. It’s clearly inspired by Overwatch and should you look at it for a while, you may just think that it’s the same game. Indeed, the gameplay, the abilities and even the graphics are very similar to Overwatch. What makes Paladins stand out? Two words: It’s free. If you’d really like to play a game like Overwatch but can’t shell out 60$, Paladins is probably the closest you can get right now, and many players out there actually prefer it over Blizzard’s shooter. Unlike Overwatch, Pladins’ characters aren’t that well developed and have less personality (but they still look super cute). The game also has items which can be used during matches to counter the opposition while Overwatch mostly relies on heroes’ skills. Unlike the majority of early access games, Paladins is very playable and runs really well which is pleasantly surprising. It’s also a lot of fun.

3. Lawbreakers

Guns, Blades and High Jumping Make This Game Stand Out

Maybe cartoony graphics aren’t your thing. Maybe you want realistic characters in a dystopian future fighting with guns, blades and gravity. Or maybe you want a really jumpy Overwatch game, in which case look no further than LawBreakers. There are two teams in this game: Law and Breakers (see what they did there) or Good vs. Evil if you prefer. While the gameplay is very similar to games in this genre a few things make Lawbreakers unique. The best method to play the game is to constantly stay in the air, so if you are longing for the days of Quake or Unreal Tournament where you would always gun someone down while airborne; Lawbreakers will be more than happy to accommodate you. Also, the developers have promised that at least half of the playable characters will be female, which we think is great. The game isn’t out yet, but you can sign up for the beta right now.

4. Gigantic

It’s Been a While Since We’ve Seen So Much Color In a Video Game

Here’s one that we’re really excited about. Not only does Gigantic look gorgeous but it’s characters look interesting too. It’s also refreshing to see a game like this from a third-person-perspective. Instead of capturing and holding key objectives or escorting/attacking vehicles, each team gets their own gigantic guardian, and the first team’s giant that falls, losses. While there are still ranged characters a big focus is also given to melee combat which will also look much cooler from a third person perspective. Windows 10 and Xbox One users can try out this baby right away.

5. Dirty Bomb

Working With Your Teammates Is Essential If You Want to Get Anything Done In This Game

Dirty bomb states: “What’s a little radiation when there’s money to be made right?” and we agree with it. This fast paced shooter game really wants you to work together with your teammates and focus on your objectives.  Just like most of these games, Dirty bomb has many unique characters with unique skills that can often make a difference between winning and losing. Rushing on your own is rarely the solution and healthy communication is key. We are also happy to inform that, while this game is free-to-play, the game won’t bother you too much with micro-transactions. Not only that, but it will award you with more in-game currency if you complete some of the games challenges. Now isn’t that nice? You can play Dirty bomb right now for free.

6. Fistful of Frags

Don’t Let The Graphics Drive You Away As This Fun Western Shooter Deserves Your Attention

Sometimes you just want something simple and fun. This western-styled source shooter may not be the prettiest game on the list, but it sure is a lot of fun. So what makes Fistful of Frags different than other shooters out there? Well for starters, the game is free and has no micro-transactions but the biggest difference has to be that the game almost discourages the use of guns. For some reason, the developers decided to make reloading the gun last as much as reloading a real gun and when you DO actually reload the gun, good luck shooting something. Unless you aim very carefully, you’re going to miss that shot, and even if you do, you still might miss it. On the other hand, the game encourages you to think quickly, when you’re out of bullets. Use your hands, feet, axes, bows or whatever you can find. Oh and how do you win in the game? Make sure your kills are the most stylish and last time we checked: headshots are so yesterday.

7. Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2

Even Though This Is the Fourth Game in the Series, Seeing a Corn Shoot at a Zombie Still Cracks Us Up

First game on this list that actually costs money to get into, but don’t let that drive you away, because this game is worth every penny. Just like its predecessor, Garden Warfare 2 puts you as either a plant or a zombie where you get to duke it out. This time, however, a lot more attention is given to Zombies who now have their own game modes and story modes (don’t worry, the plants still have those too). Unlike other games in this genre, there is also a single player mode and a split-screen co-op mode if your girlfriend wants to play a game with you. The new classes are also fun to play and it’s really hard to rage at other players when the characters and their death animations look so cute. You can get this game on Xbox One, Playstation 4 or PC.

8. Titanfall 2

Having Our Own Mech Has Been Our Dream Ever Since We Were Kids and Titanfall 2 Helps Make Our Dreams a Reality

If you thought Titanfall 2 was simply Call of Duty with Mechs, think again. This fantastic sequel improves pretty much everything from the original game. The multiplayer is fast paced and feels smoother than ever, there are a lot of customization and weapon upgrades to unlock, there are different titan classes and there’s even a single player mode. Surprisingly, the single player story is actually really good, and gives much needed love to the world and lore of Titanfall. This one also costs money but is also more than worth it.

9. Loadout

Our Words Cannot Do This Picture Justice

This one has been out for a while and is still considered one of the best free multiplayer shooters out there. Loadout is fast paced, gory, hilarious and a lot of fun to play. The graphics are cartoony and the game is played from a third person perspective so you get to admire how hilariously disgusting the world and (especially) the characters look. There is a huge focus on weapon building and customization. Buying clothes for your characters is great fun too. One thing that needs to be mentioned is that you cannot buy weapon experience of weapon parts with real money. The only benefit that you can get in Loadout by opening your wallet is to look more fabulous than the other players, and to that we applaud. You can play Loadout right now for free.

10. Gotham City Impostors

Looks Like Some Batman Fans Woke Up on the Wrong Side of the Bed

Would you like to play a Batman game where you don’t actually play as Batman or anyone from the Batman universe? We wouldn’t either, if we hadn’t known that Gotham City Impostors existed. This game is basically a clash of Batman fans vs. Joker fans and it’s surprisingly good. Pick a team, choose your weapons and abilities and get ready for some mayhem. The game has everything you would expect plus a few extras. Unlike Batman and his arch nemesis, none of the characters have fancy gadgets but they still have some home-made bits and bobs which help them turn the tides of battles. A lot of characters have high-jumps, gliding and even zip-line abilities which make maneuvering the levels a lot of fun. If you are a fan of the capped crusader or if you like dressing up like the Joker, give this one a try, it’s free.

And there you have it. Whether Overwatch is getting stale or you are just looking for a new setting or new reason to shoot your friends and random players, these 10 games are sure to keep you busy at least for a while. Please keep in mind that this list is based on our opinion so it’s very possible that we may have missed some games that should be on this list. Whatever the case may be, we do hope you will enjoy yourself with these great games.
