The Sims 5: Predicted Release Date

Sims 5; Predicted Release Date
You've gotta love the creativity of The Sims!

The Sims is an amazing life simulation game that everybody loves or at least knows. After being released in 2014, the latest game in the series, The Sims 4, is still getting constant updates and new packs, such as the recent Bowling Night pack, so it is probably safe to say that The Sims 5 is hidden up EA Maxis’ sleeves somewhere.

In fact, back in 2014 when The Sims 4 was released, Grant Rodiek (one of the producers of The Sims 4) posted on The Sims Forum: “If Sims 4 isn’t successful, there won’t be a Sims 5.” – but, it’s safe to say, Sims 4 is most certainly successful. So let’s just assume there will be a Sims 5 – when will it be released?

My prediction is that we can expect it at some point around 2019, so we still have a couple of years to wait. The reason for my prediction is quite simple if you look at the timeline of release dates of all the games in the series. The Sims was released in 2000, and The Sims 2 followed four years later in 2004. Five years later, The Sims 3 arrived in 2009 and five years after that, in 2014, The Sims 4 arrived. So, the only logical guess would be five years after that in 2019.

One thing we should look out for in the next few years is the release dates of expansion, stuff and gameplay packs for The Sims 4. The last Stuff Pack for The Sims was released in September 2013, and the last Expansion Pack was released the month after. Lo and behold, a year later in September 2014, The Sims 4 was released. Of course, the new update was announced before this, but it’s still not a bad idea to keep an eye out for when the packs for The Sims 4 suddenly start slowing down a little.

So, for now, we can only wonder what kind of new features and new gameplay The Sims 5 will have once it is (hopefully at some point in the near future) released. However, Maxis have noted to its fans that there will not be a Sims 5 if The Sims 4 isn’t successful – the logic is, of course, pretty self-explanatory, but I can’t help but worry that there is a small chance that The Sims 5 won’t even be considered! Though, thinking about The Sims 4, I’m sure it has been and still will be successful enough to make the Maxis team want to start work on a Sims 5. And, who knows – perhaps they have already started?
