10. Gurren Lagann vs. Viral

This is when Gurren Lagann becomes Gurren Lagann and the series really pops off as Kamina and Simon go to the base of the beastmen.

• This fight is humorous and is beautifully drawn as Gurren Lagann fights against Viral’s gunman suit that’s much stronger than normal Gurren or normal Lagann.
• This fight seems one-sided and Simon is doubting himself but once he gets out of his mind he helps Kamina and they form Gurren Lagann.

What's great about this scene

• We see a great fight that introduces us to the powerful beast-man Viral who plays a huge role later in the series.

9. Prison Fight

This is one of very few fights that take place outside of a mech suit and it takes place in prison between Simon and Viral and things get heated.

• This fight doesn’t last long but it gets Simon focused on what he needs to do and what’s important when the events of the anti-spirals happen.
• The true loser of this battle is an unnamed chicken beast-man who wanted to fight Simon but quickly was defeated time and time again.

What's great about this scene

• Even though it’s not one of the most thrilling fights in the anime it still gives a great story and makes Simon get into the action once the anti spiral attack.

8. Team Dai-Gurren vs. General Adiane

This scene shows us a great underwater battle against General Adiane the Elegant while Dai-Gurren has a clear disadvantage not being made for the water.

• This fight is great because Simon finally accepts the loss of Kamina and becomes the obvious leader of Team Dai-Gurren.
• Even though sadly I wasn’t able to find any videos on YouTube but the video I did find shows us how General Adiane uses her tail as a weapon and it shows in her Mecha.
• This is a great fight and takes place in episode 12 for those who want to see this fight as well as a great episode after the beach scene.

What's great about this scene

• Gurren Lagann is at a major disadvantage in the water and General Adiane is able to move fast and easily in the water making this fight one-sided.
• General Adiane planned to sink Dai-Gurren and takedown Gurren Lagann with it until Simon got fed up and saved Dai-Gurren from sinking.

7. Gurren-Lagann vs Dai-Gunzan

After finding the control point of the beastmen, Dai-Gunzan, Gurren Lagann must face the first general Thymilph the Crashing One.

• This fight leads to one of the saddest moments in the entire show leading to the death of Kamina and the depressive state of Simon after everything.
• This fight seems one-sided as Simon is stuck in his mind after seeing Yoko and Kamina kissed the night before.

What's great about this scene

• This fight is a major turning point for the humans and they get a base of operations that allows them to face the spiral king and his generals as the series goes on.

6. Kittan fights against the anti spirals

This isn’t as an epic of a fight as others but shows how willing Kittan is to sacrifice himself to save his family, he goes out with nothing but a shotgun with spiral rounds against huge ships.

• This scene is so cool as Kittan hops off of a truck to shoot a huge ship with just a shotgun to slow it down to make sure his family escapes before he gets saved himself.
• Kittan is such a great character and is more than willing to sacrifice himself no matter what to save his friends and family. This could have been his final act but luckily he gets saved just in time and is given his mech suit.

What's great about this scene

• Not only does Kittan just throw himself in harm's way to keep his family safe he does it with no mech suit or any backup armed with only a shotgun and spiral rounds.

5. King Kittan's Giga Drill Break

In the last fight of Kittan, this scene is beautifully done and gives us an epic final attack of one of our favorite characters in this series.

• This last scene of Kittan is sad yet hopeful and gives the rest of our heroes the ability to defeat the anti spirals in a last epic battle.
• Kittan was supposed to break through the shields of the anti-spirals with his space mecha but it wasn’t enough so he burst through with his original mecha with Simon’s Giga Drill and used it to burst open the shield for his friends.

What's great about this scene

• We don’t get to see anyone else use the drills of Gurren Lagann and it’s amazing to see Kittan use it to help his friends in the last effort sacrifice.
• This scene is sad. We've seen others sacrifice but it’s never easy and Kittan leaves behind his family and his sisters for the greater good.

4. Simon vs Guam

The best part of this fight is Simon’s speech when he finally gets control of Lagann again after he accepts Kamina’s death and stops trying to imitate him and becomes himself.

• This scene is amazing in both the anime and the movie with an amazing speech that becomes the reason why he is the leader of Dai-Gurren.
• Guam is a powerful general to the spiral king and a master tactician but loses because of the power of fighting spirit in team Dai-Gurren and Simon.

What's great about this scene

• The inspiring speech from Simon is the best part of this scene after losing his bro Kamina and losing himself in despair he finally got out of it because of Nia.
• We get to see the growth of Simon and see him use the same final move that his bor Kamina did to defeat the first general.

3. Simon vs Lordgenome

This fight is an epic fight and rests in the third spot only because it doesn’t engage the same feeling as Kamina’s final strike and it’s not quite as amazing as the final episode.

• This fight is amazing, against the spiral king Simon is at a major disadvantage of power and this fight ends completely different than other fights do.
• This epic fight is what leads to every human being able to live upon the surface and really flourish after the spiral king is defeated.

What's great about this scene

• This scene doesn’t stay in the mechas when the Spiral King and Simon fight, the Spiral King with his fist and Simon using his spiral key to defeat the spiral king.
• One of the most epic drawn and animated fights this fight is gorgeous and epic in every sense of the word making it one of the best fights in anime.

2. Kamina’s Final Strike

This is the second most sad episode in the entire series Simon loses himself because of what happens between Kamina and Yoko and because he got stuck in his head Kamina is lost.

• This scene was able to bring a tear to my eye. It's always sad when a character we love dies but this scene is much worse because it brings everyone down.
• This last fight gives our protagonist the ship Dai-Gurren and hopes that they can live a better life on the surface for everyone who is living underground.
• We hope to see a bright future for Yoko and Kamina but it isn’t meant to be and it’s sad for everyone when Kamina is lost but the hardest on Simon.

What's great about this scene

• This sad scene is the last we see of Kamina in the anime and hurts everyone but he was able to inspire everyone and Simon in a final epic attack.

This is the last episode of this amazing show and it is one of the most beautifully done fights in the history of anime with amazing artwork going into this epic climax in the stars.

• Looking back at this anime this fight still makes me happy even though I swore not to watch this show again because it's a gripping story and a sad yet beautiful ending that leaves you wanting more, it’s sort of bittersweet watching it again after so long.
• I don’t know any other series that uses planets as well as literal galaxies to attack and the artwork that goes into this fight makes it one of the best in anime.
• We start this episode off with an amazing and uproaring speech that’s bound to fill anyone with determination and make them believe they can do anything.

What's great about this scene

• This fight is sure to make anyone happy and determined as it opens with a beautiful and inspiring speech before getting into an amazing fight.
• We see a literal fight among the stars and galaxies that no other anime that I know has given us this final fight is great, and I love it.
• We get to see the true power of the spiral race, humans, and that is the human spirit no matter what happens the human spirit is the true power we all have.
