Frampton

Shane got his first real taste of gaming while playing split-screen Halo with 16 people in his friend’s garage during a winter storm. He’s been hooked on the strategy, adrenaline, and stories that accompany good games ever since.
His love for video games has taken him across many platforms and into many different walks of life. He has been published for creative writing in a handful of magazines, including The Blue Guitar and The Gila River Review. As his writing skills have developed, he entered the workplace as a freelance writer and editor, which has come full circle and allowed him to write about what he loves. He currently works as a writer and editor for the Dixie State University Alumni Association and as a ghost writer for Phase Two Publishing. He received an education in business and is on track to complete a bachelor’s degree in computer science with an emphasis on programming from Dixie State University.
From an early age, he learned to love the map and world editors that came with games such as Warcraft III and forge mode on Halo. These inspired him to enter the world of programming and has been influential in his involvement with indie game development projects. With this insight, he can look at video games in a different way, analyzing the finished projects while appreciating the hard work behind them in a way only a fellow developer can. Writing as a video game journalist allows him to share that unique perspective with others, and keeps him up to date on the good, the bad, and the ugly of the gaming world—all bonuses for someone who loves to game.
Shane is a real sucker for good storytelling and loves games with good stories. This has led him deep into the land of RPG games, but he still loves his first-person shooters and real-time strategy games. If asked which genres he loves the most, he would probably reply “anything with a compelling story and good gameplay to sustain it.”
