Top Apex Legends Weapons skins

Litter the battlefield with your favourite weird and wonderful weapons skins

Prowler - Arctic & Midnight (Awesome)

  • It’s hard to choose between the Arctic and Midnight Skins for the Prowler, which give off a bold look of either plain white or black respectively.
  • If you’re a fan of Stargate SG-1, you might recall that the standard-issue weapon of Jack O’Neill and his SG teams is eventually the P90, a real-world submachine gun that clearly served as an inspiration for the Prowler.
  • If you’re searching for a more realistic look for your Prowler, consider these options - not least because their cost in crafting materials is cheap.

Why Arctic & Midnight are Awesome:

  • Simple and striking colors for your Prowler
  • Boast more of a classic military look
  • Plain shades arguably make these skins more distinctive

Cost: 30 crafting materials

Alternator - LED Rez (Legendary)

  • Although the Alternator is, in the opinions of many, the worst weapon in the game (at least since the Disruptor Rounds attachment was removed in October’s patch), it does still boast one of the coolest skins of all in the form of the LED Rez.
  • The sleek luminescent blue is highly reminiscent (undoubtedly deliberately so) of the virtual world of the Tron franchise - it almost compensates for the lack of another movie in the series.
  • Despite the Alternator’s detractors, it does have its fans - in fairness, this slow-firing SMG is one of the most stable weapons available, so if you’re an avid Alternator user and fan of ‘80s sci-fi, this could be the skin for you.
  • The only downside is its hefty cost in crafting materials.

Why LED Rez is Legendary:

  • A classic sci-fi look for a futuristic-looking weapon
  • Live your Tron fantasies in the Apex arena
  • Revitalize your love for the Alternator

Price: 1,200 crafting materials

R-99 - Trial by Fire (Awesome)

  • Although the name ‘Spitfire’ belongs to one of Apex’s light machine guns, perhaps it would be better suited to the only weapon that actually seems to be spitting fire - the R-99.
  • With an extended magazine, the insanely fast fire rate of this submachine gun can take down opponents so fast they barely have time to react; the skin that captures this best is Trial by Fire, a red-hot skin that turns your submachine gun into a fearsome-looking weapon of war.

Why Trial by Fire is awesome:

  • The deep red color will put you in the mood for battle
  • The animated flames smouldering on the casing hint at the fiery discharge of this fast-firing SMG
  • Relatively inexpensive and undoubtedly distinctive

Cost: 400 crafting materials

Peacekeeper - The Lonestar (Legendary)

  • Unfortunately, Apex Legends has yet to include John Wayne, Clint Eastwood and Steve McQueen as playable characters in Apex Legends, but the spirit of the Old West can still be captured with The Lonestar.
  • Although the Peacekeeper itself already channels the feel of cowboys, cattle rustlers, swinging saloon doors and star-shaped sheriff badges with its lever action, The Lonestar certainly adds the finishing touches. Saddle up the dropship, partner!

Why The Lonestar is Legendary:

  • Become an outlaw and rule the arena with your posse (ie. your squad; if you’re using The Lonestar, your squad should be called your posse as a matter of Old West principle)
  • Take your enemies back to simpler times with this Wild West aesthetic...before you take them down

Cost: 1,200 crafting points

Triple Take - First Strike (Legendary)

  • This realistic-looking skin for the Triple Take brings this futuristic weapon back to Earth.
  • Who knows? Perhaps if you’re crouching in a bush somewhere, the camouflage netting that sits over the barrel might give someone looking for you a moment’s pause - and in a sniper duel, a moment can make all the difference.

Why First Strike is Legendary:

  • Realistic-looking skin reminiscent of a ghillie suit
  • The livery and design is pure Vietnam nostalgia
  • If your character has an outfit good for concealment, try blending in with your surroundings

Cost: 1,200 crafting materials

Hemlok - Digital Afterimage (Good)

  • A colorful skin of yellow and bright green that somehow brings positive vibes to a weapon that is something of an acquired taste.
  • The burst of color in this skin seems appropriate for the Hemlok’s burst-fire discharge - and if that particular fire mode isn’t to your taste, the rifle is a stable shooter of single shots, good for mid-to-long range engagements.

Why Digital Afterimage is Good:

  • Colorful without being too outrageous
  • Affordable cost for a distinctive look
  • Goes well with most character skins

Mozambique - Brother of the Blade (Awesome)

  • Despite its elegant look, this skin doesn’t quite deserve the title of ‘Legendary’ since it’s still a skin for the Mozambique - by far Apex Legends’ worst weapon of all, good only when you first drop and are grabbing the first thing you can get hold of.
  • With the Hammerpoint Rounds attached the Mozambique’s damage is vastly increased, but the three-shell capacity makes this an emergency weapon and not much else.
  • Still, if you have to use it, you may as well look good doing it.

Why Brother of the Blade is Awesome:

  • Go down fighting with your puny, but now very pretty, Mozambique…
  • ...or enjoy gloating over the fact that your defeated enemies fell to the best-looking worst gun in the game
  • In essence, if you have to use such a weapon of last resort, it may as well look its best

Mastiff - Off the Grid (Awesome)

  • There is something pleasingly ironic in having this soothing turquoise skin, with its gently flowing pale blue and black pattern on the casing, put on the most devastating shotgun in the game.
  • No matter their armor, the Mastiff will make short work of anyone - providing its meagre four shells are all fired accurately.

Why Off the Grid is Awesome:

  • Futuristic-looking color scheme for a ridiculously powerful shotgun
  • Reasonably priced
  • Like all the best things in life, it’s shiny
  • The only issue is whether it’s worth using crafting materials to make a skin for a weapon you’ll only have rarely

Price: 400 crafting materials

EVA-8 Auto - Out for Blood (Awesome)

  • This skin is one of the most appropriately named in the game, especially for this weapon - with a fully-automatic shotgun, you truly are out for blood.
  • With this in mind, you might as well equip the most appropriate skin.

Why Out for Blood is Awesome:

  • Red streaks on the weapon can’t help but inspire you as you charge towards the enemy blazing shells
  • Reasonably priced
  • Striking design without bright colors that can be seen from a nautical mile away

Price: 60 crafting materials

G7 Scout - Rainforest (Good)

  • For some reason, I can’t help but feel that it’s okay for the wacky science-fiction weapons to look exactly what they are -  namely wacky science fiction weapons.
  • But for Apex Legends’ more realistic-looking guns, I think it’s more immersive to adopt more plain and understated skins.
  • For the versatile G7 Scout, Rainforest fits the bill perfectly...not least because of its elegant look at a low cost

Why Rainforest is Good:

  • Although this won’t be a choice for those who prefer their sniper rifles to have a flamboyant appearance, fans of keeping things grounded will appreciate the simple gray-green color.
  • A cool, tactical look, readily available for purchase.

Cost: 20 crafting materials

Kraber - Solstice (Awesome)

  • Although this skin doesn’t make the Kraber resemble high-powered sniper systems in the real world, its Van Gogh-like artwork puts the art into the art of sniping.
  • Besides, with the most powerful weapon in the game in your hands, who needs an overly-aggressive skin?
  • The only thing you need to compensate for here is the Kraber’s massive recoil.

Why Solstice is Awesome:

  • An elegant artistic design from a more civilized time
  • Let the design give you something to aim for apart from the enemy - turn your sniping into art

Longbow - Lagoon (Good)

  • A return to understated sniper rifle skins - a simple pale green-blue that can blend in marginally with most environments and character skins.

Why Lagoon is good:

  • An affordable, pleasing color scheme for one of the best long-range rifles in the game
  • It will not, however, satisfy those in search of something more outrageous

Cost: 20 crafting materials

Charge Rifle - Contemporary Counterpart (Awesome)

  • An extraordinary weapon deserves an extraordinary skin - and the Contemporary Counterpart is admirably suited to the task.
  • This steampunk skin covers your Charge Rifle in gold, black, and navy blue, and changes the barrel to something resembling a Tesla coil.
  • Whether this weapon is nerfed - a strong demand from some sections of the Apex community - or not, if you have the crafting materials to spare, why not make the Charge Rifle look its grandest?

Why Contemporary Counterpart is Awesome:

  • A truly unique steampunk look
  • The barrel change makes the weapon look as fearsome as it is weirdly elegant
  • The price tag, though, is high

Cost: 1,200 crafting materials

Devotion - Nitro Kustom (Legendary)

  • ‘Nitro’ is certainly an appropriate word for the Devotion and the way it works.
  • After the weapon heats up following its first few shots, this machine gun’s ludicrously rapid fire rate can bring down opponents in seconds - but a fast-firing weapon needs a fast-looking skin.

Why Nitro Kustom is legendary:

  • Red flames to purple aesthetic with an eight ball on the end of the carrying handle make this skin suitable for a speed demon
  • The hanging dice near the iron sights give a cool look, and would look even cooler if paired with an unlockable charm
  • Legendary items do, however, often come with a legendary price tag…

Cost: 1,200 crafting materials

Spitfire - Flying Warhawk (Legendary)

  • There is really only one choice for the best Spitfire skin: with its blue and green camouflage and Royal Air Force roundel, the Flying Warhawk copies the look of the WW2 fighter plane that serves as this machine gun’s namesake.
  • The RAF Spitfire defended Britain’s shores before taking the fight back into Europe, astonishing Luftwaffe opponents with its speed, durability, and maneuverability - all things which you also need in the Apex arena. Let this skin inspire you.

Why Flying Warhawk is Legendary:

  • If your character isn’t intimidating enough, maybe the shark face painted on the front can help
  • Honor the British pilots who kept Hitler’s forces at bay by going up against superior numbers yourself - and win, just like they did

Cost: 1,200 crafting materials

L-STAR - Alien Invasion (Awesome)

  • If you were told that one weapon in Apex Legends was not of human design, you’d probably guess the L-STAR, so why not make it look as extraterrestrial as possible?
  • If you’re so inclined, the deep purple and bright green of Alien Invasion will certainly suit your needs.

Why Alien Invasion is Awesome:

  • Coupled with this purple and green skin, the odd design of this machine gun makes it look like something the Covenant would use to try and finally kill the Master Chief
  • Go nuts - pretend you’re an alien hunting for human prey
  • The high price tag is a minor negative, especially as this is not a weapon you’ll find frequently

Cost: 1,200 crafting materials

R-301 - The Last Spartan (Legendary)

  • A brutal-looking skin of chains, spikes and dogtags, with parts of the weapon wrapped up in twine or cloth of different colors.
  • This makes it look as though your R-301 rifle has been to war - and, given that this is one of the most versatile weapons in the game, it probably has.

Why The Last Spartan is Legendary:

  • A truly savage skin for truly savage players
  • An intimidating look that will put you in the mood for slaughter
  • The skull on the charging handle is of particular note

RE-45 - The Regulator (Legendary)

  • A boldly-colored skin of gold and red, this skin manages to suggest both wealth and danger - and you’ll certainly need the former to buy it, since like most Legendary skins it’s a hefty price to pay in crafting materials.
  • Still, if you’re a fan of the RE-45 and its ability to discharge a magazine in quick time, it might well be worth it.

Why The Regulator is Legendary:

  • Elegant and striking aesthetic, giving off an almost regal feel with its deep shades of gold and red
  • Not just a pretty face; with this skin, the RE-45 comes with easier to use iron sights

Wingman - Code of Honor (Awesome)

Why Code of Honor is awesome:

  • Sleek green skin with revolving graphics
  • Relatively low-cost

Cost: 400 crafting materials

P2020 - Lady Justice (Awesome)

  • An elegant skin depicting justice; something you’ll have to administer yourself in the Apex arena. A truly beautiful aesthetic of gold and white, with Justice herself depicted on the handle.

Why Lady Justice is Awesome:

  •   One of the best-looking skins in the game…
  • ...let down by the fact that you’re probably going to drop this weapon almost as soon as you pick it up
