Jojo is an avid visual novel and RPG gamer who explores ideas of identity, representation, mental health, and mild humor in her writing in the content of her favorite video games. Her favorite childhood games are; “Pokèmon Platinum”, “Animal Crossing: Wild World”, “Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney”, and “Earthbound”. She holds these titles dear to her heart for being the reason why she plays video game as well as aiding her in learning how to read English in her predominantly Spanish-speaking household.
She started off her writing journey by creating a Tumblr account dedicated for the fandom of Punch-Out!! to share ideas and head canons for the characters that inhabit the Punch-Out!! universe. Alongside she had also made a plethora of fanfiction exploring different alternate universes and discusses the previously mentioned themes. She would share these fanfiction on Wattpad and Tumblr as well.
This love for writing came to be when she won the superlative “most likely to be an author” in the eighth grade—When the entire eighth grade had read her “Five Nights at Freddy’s” fanfiction and gained praised from her fellow peers that supported her.
Jojo also read issues of “Gameinformer” in her youth and became interested in journalism when it came to the underrepresented art of video games; As she claims herself that video games are just another form of art and expression of the human mind.
During her time in college, she aided a lot of ESL college students in research, writing, and revising any essays, articles, and blogs while maintaining to write creatively whether through her Tumblr blog or by publishing fan-made content through her Wattpad.
What Jojo accomplishes through her work revealing the between a deeper, darker meaning through the art of video games.
