About - Ian Schmidt: This writer, Ian... also referred to as "me", is a gamer enthusiast that spends his Northeast winters exploring the ambiguous spectrum of video games. I've written creatively, academically, and I'm now focusing my efforts on digital media. Despite my passion, my academic credibility has a bit of merit due to my Bachelor's Degree in Criminology, so research and tedious scrutinization is something at least a few professors thought I was decent enough at. Most of my hours are logged in some more obscure MMOs, but I've spent my fair share of hours raging at survival games, first-person shooters, and racing games, so those mostly encompass my fields of expertise. Funcom's The Secret World, and its mutant rebrith Secret World Legeds, ARK: Survival Evolved, Killing Floor, and loads of older console games are some of the ones that have most of my attention. Writing about games is something I find highly entertaining, simply because it's such a subjective field. For instance, I am completely dumbfounded by most modern trends in games, but clearly I must be the odd-man out, because I seem to be one of few who find it puzzling. Rather than beat my chest and scream "Everyone's gone insane!", it may be more entertaining to see what others see.
