Ultimate Spider-Man is a comic book style video game that centers around Peter Parker and his run in with Venom, a symbiote that takes over a person's body to take the form of a more savage spider-man. Throughout the game you are swinging around the city to get to your missions, and there are a few activities for you to get involved in. These activities can be stopping thugs in a car, racing against the Human Torch,or just saving women from getting their purses snatched only to be called a “Freak”.

Not even a sweat: After a long battle with Venom, Spider-Man is picked up in his weak state by Venom who is unscathed.

 

What makes this game ultimate?

• Unique style of art, and comic flow throughout the game

• Keeps up with the humor you would expect from Spidey

• Brings in bold characters both as friend and foe

Got the munchies: In Ultimate Spider-Man you can play as Venom and use your superhuman abilities to throw cars, leap across buildings and even… eat civilians

 

9. The Amazing Spider-Man

The Amazing Spider-Man is an open world game with a plot based off of the events in the movie sharing the same name. Curt Connors,also known as the Lizard, was taken from his asylum by Spider-Man to help cure a disease that came from Connors’ own cross-species serum. Spider-Man must stop his old enemies from taking over the city, find a cure for this disease, and protect those close to him.

I need to get something off my chest: In The Amazing Spider-Man, there is a flow of combat, and you can feel comfortable with the fluid motion of your attacks.

Why would this game give you a “Cure” for boredom?

• New web swinging techniques

• Huge plot, and an immense amount of characters

• DLC packs make the game even more enjoyable adding in even more missions and villain interactions.

Rush hour: In the game you can face off against Rhino, a villain permanently trapped in his suit, and is capable of immense destruction.

 

8.The Amazing Spider-Man 2

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set after Spider-Man is finally seen as a hero throughout the entire city, and starts off with his search for Uncle Ben’s killer, Dennis Carradine and once he does find him, shortly after they began a chase, Carradine was killed by the infamous “Carnage Killer”.  Spider-Man goes around the city looking for the Carnage Killer, and interrogates Russian mobs, and Wilson Fisk, though it was Kraven the hunter in the end that helped Peter find Carnage, or “Cletus Kasady”. During this mission, Peter reunited with Harry Osborn who reveals he is dying,and needs Spider-Man’s blood to help cure himself,but Peter couldn’t do it, forcing Harry to do it himself, turning him into the Green Goblin. Now faced with an entire army, the Kingpin, Green Goblin, and Carnage, Spidey must do the best he can to reclaim his city.

Firefighter Spidey: Throughout the city, there are activities you can do to increase you hero rating. Some of these activities will be that building is on fire, and it is your job to go in and rescue the civilians.

 

What makes this game a Kingpin?

• Upgradeable web shooters

• Hero or Menace rating, which forces you to get involved in the activities

• You can change your suits for different attributes

You da bomb!: Spidey can join in activities to help the civilians in the city such as defusing a bomb, as shown above.

 

7. Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions

Spider-Man: Shattered dimensions is focused on Spider-Man and Mysterio, who gains access to the tablet of order and chaos, which grants the user magical powers beyond comprehension. Spidey stops mysterio before he can use it, but also shattering it, with the shards put into 4 other dimensions. It is up to the 4 different Spideys in those universes to reunite reality.

Sucker punched: The different Spider-Men that you can play as can manipulate their webs to form fists so they can pack a punch from a mile away!

 

How this game shatters other competition:

• Each Spider-Man has their own fighting style

• Different costumes for each Spider-Man

• Cinematic storyline that really gets you immersed in the game

Is it Comicon?: Certain enemies found in the game share a resemblance to Deadpool, and are called “Fanboys”, now that’s commitment!

6. Spider-Man:Web of Shadows

Spider-Man:Web of Shadows is an adventure game that is also open world, with the setting of course being Manhattan. It is focused on Spidey maintaining his integrity and goodness while facing all of his worst enemies and being pushed further into a corner of depression. You really get to see his low points in this game, and this is one of the more serious undertones of Spidey’s existence.

In a rut: In the first scenes of the game, Spidey is seen walking past explosions and people fighting with his head down, a sign that shows he feels like he can’t help and can’t stand being beat.

 

What makes this game web us toward it?

• Choices that allow you to go down a darker path

• Open world environment with plenty of action

• Storyline that makes you sympathize with Spider-Man's struggle

 

A torn path: Spidey must deal with the psychological pain of the symbiote suit while also trying to keep the deranged citizens from wreaking more havoc.

 

5.Spider-Man: Friend or Foe

Friend or Foe’s setting is all around the world in a level based game. Spidey must save his enemies, and his allies from symbiote like creatures that make them act in ways beyond their control. He then takes them as sidekicks for the next level.

Tag team: In Friend or Foe you can assign Iron Fist to be your ally and fight alongside you.

 

Things aboot this game that make me go up the wall:

• The arcade style throughout the entire game

• Introduction of characters from other corners of the Marvel Universe

• You can play co-op adding to the arcade style.

Unlikely friends: Iconic villains can become your allies, and help you beat the symbiotes and bosses.

 

4. Spider-Man: Edge of Time

Edge of Time, starts with Spider-man battling Anti-venom, and promptly being killed, we then later find out Spider-Man 2099 A.K.A Miguel O’hara has been investigating a company called Alchemex, which is controlled by Walker Sloan, a man obsessed with defeating his corporate enemies before they even exist. When Sloan goes through the portal he’s created before Spider-Man 2099 can catch him, he causes Spidey 2099 to get trapped in the portal, causing him to be unaffected by Sloan’s time changes. When Miguel steps out the portal, he sees New York has been transformed beyond recognition, causing him to establish a link to the past Spider-Man before he died.

A futuristic touch: When you get to play as Miguel, you see his fighting style has more pizazz, and lighting, since he can use electric combos.

 

How was this game so ahead of its time:

• Makes the player think about cause and effect of the world around them

• You get to play as 2 very different but iconic Spider-Men

• There are abundant characters you can find, both in the 2099 world and the present world

In the nick of time: Spidey can dismantle things in his world which will take effect in Miguel's world, an example like above that Peter is destroying a huge robot that caught Miguel in the future. This robot will now cease to exist in 2099.

 

3. Lego Marvel Superheroes

In Lego Marvel Superheroes, you take control over a vast collection of marvel characters to help stop Loki and other Villains from creating a weapon that could destroy the world!  There are various activities you can do to help unlock characters or collect the “Cosmic Bricks” that are scattered around the city. You could play as Spider-Man and travel the city by web or get a quinjet from the helicarrier!

A world of trouble: In the game, you will be up against numerous enemies such as Galactus, or even the Red Hulk.

 

Why is this game top 3?

• Family friendly fun, and is enjoyable for all ages

• Countless activities and character interactions

• Face it, who doesn’t love Legos?

2. Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3

Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, is an addition to the Marvel Vs. Capcom series, using more characters and combos than the last game. YOu can choose your tag team of fighters and take on other characters from the 2 universes. Once you feel confident enough you can get online and play against real life players!

What a duo!: The player can select a team of the most powerful players in both universes, which like above could be Doctor Doom, and A sentinel from the X-men comics

 

How this game fought for number 2:

• Great variation in characters and many different combos

• Bonus powers and skills are given by cards you obtain

• A lot of missions for you to complete even if its only in one stage!

This could fill a book- or at least 2 pages of a comic: The character selection screen shows there are many characters to choose from and you even have to fill in the blank squares by finding these characters!

 

1. Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite

In Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite, Ultron Sigma begins to act on their plan to exterminate biological life throughout the universes. The 2 very different universes must join together to save the day once again. Though it becomes clear that the heroes will need the infinity stones to accomplish their goal.

The mad titan: The player can even be Thanos, using the infinity stones to obliterate their enemies with their awesome power.

 

What makes this game the best?

• Huge storyline really ties all of the features into place

• Characters are even more iconic, and includes even Captain Marvel, way before the movie came out!

• Tag teaming received a major upgrade making it feel way more fluid.

An even playing field: All characters can use the power of the infinity stones, even the enemies in Story Mode.
