Top 10] Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Best Fights of All Time.

 

Alright so here we go folks, we’re going to do another top en list, but this list is from one of my favorite anime of all time, Fullmetal Alchemist brotherhood. Now for this article, things are gonna be a little different instead of just talking about the fights. We’re going to talk about what all surrounds the fights that take place.

 

10. Ed vs The Slicer Twins

 

Now let's count down from number ten shall we? Now this fight stars Ed, and the slicer twins. Now the story surrounding this fight is somewhat the beginning point  of everything else that takes place in the show. What makes this fight so great is, it’s the first time that we get a glimpse of what’s in store for our hero ed. The fight starts out really comical, (because as we all know ) ed hates and I mean HATES! Being called short. So that fact that he admits that he has a small body before coming into the room is absolutely perfect.

As the fight starts you get the backstory of the slicer twins and what they did before their souls were placed in the suite of armor. With a few words of exchange the fight is underway. Most of this fight is done in short bursts between Ed and his brother al. 

But luckily with quick thinking and whits, ed is able to gain the upper hand on the twins and bring the fight to an end. Once the fight is over, it’s not long before we are treated to a little teaser of the events that will unfold as the story goes on.

 

9. Ed vs Greed

 

Now , fast forward a bit where Hughes is dead, (Something that we’re gonna dive into a little later with my number one pick) and the homunculus have started to reveal themselves one by one. Which brings me to my favorite one of the seven deadly sins, greed. Now when ed fights greed, it’s really just to save his younger brother from the other three chimera that he has with him. 

Now during this fight you get to see Ed deal with someone who is in some cases, and by all accounts leagues above his own. See the best thing about this fight isn’t just that ed is out classed, but in fact its that greed is completely confident. He’s in control for most of this fight. In fact when it comes down to everything, he has his ultimate shield. Something that is unbreakable, something that ed can’t gain the upperhand in this fight.

So, with this battle ed is not only at a loss because he’s facing someone who is far more experienced than he is. But someone who is really confident in who he is. He doesn't hide it, instead he flaunts it. But he’s only weakened or rather deals with a challenge when ed is able to figure out the structure of his ultimate shield.

 

8. Wrath vs Greed

 

Now for this fight it’s short and sweet. But man if it’s not one of the most satisfying fights in this show. (Like I said before.) Greed is incredibly confident in who he is and what he’s capable of. He has his possessions. (That being his friends. If you can even call them that) But this time the roles are reversed. Now this fight has a twist thrown in. What is that twist you may ask? Why it’s the fact that King bradly is wrath! (Surprised ya there didn’t I?) Now it’s here where we get a small taste of what happens when two of the strongest homunculus  (In my own opinion) face off against each other. Now as I said before, this fight is short and sweet. But it’s here that we get to see two things. One, why Bradley is the king and two why he is wrath. This fight is choreographed brilliantly, from start to finish. Wrath really holds nothing back against greed. The reason why is because, wrath knows how greed works. He knows all about his ultimate shield. So knowing this the fight between the two of them are in a way evenly matched. But the edge that wrath has is that he’s way more experienced in fighting.

7. Ed and Al vs Xing Fighters

 

This fight is an easy favorite and I couldn’t make this list without having this fight on the list. (I mean we’ve gotta have some fun here right?) Now this one isn’t much of a fight, it’s more of a; “Let's get away from here and find out what the heck is going on here Kind of fight.” Now with this one it’s one of the few times that we see both of the brothers fighting side by side. A rare moment in the show, since most of the fights are handled one on one. 

When it comes to this fight it’s more witty than anything else. 

 

6. Mustang vs Lust

 

Okay, okay, I know it’s another mustang fight, but here me out! Before you grab your torches, let me explain. See this flight deals with (Huges again) in the fact that he is now face to face with one of the two people responsible for the death of his best friend. Which leaves Mustang with a choice (Oh boy is he gonna have an even harder choice later.) But, for this fight with lust, Mustang really has no other resolve but to kill her and basically put an end to her for his friend. And this is where the vengeance starts. It starts with the death of lust.

 

5. Ling vs Wrath

 

Now we’ve done it, senpai's and weebs. We’ve made it to the top five of this list. Now it’s about to get real. And I mean real like sora fighting xehanort on critical mode in kingdom hearts 3. (Sorry I had to throw that reference in there.) Anyway, back to the list. Now when it comes to this fight, it’s another “Quick, let’s get away from here.” moment. But what’s great about this one is, it’s an outsider defending someone else. Now hee we have wrath, vs ling and he’s able to hold his own, but remember how I said that wrath is very well experienced in fighting? Well to our surprise ling is also skilled. In fact it’s a different style it takes wrath by surprise for a split second. But also it gives him a chance to learn the style and counter it. Now, the fight is short but is one of my favorites because it’s not our main characters, it's someone else taking the reins of the fight.

 

4. Ed vs Scar

 

Now this fight is a tearjerker, because of the fact that scare has now entered the city and is on the hunt for any and all State alchemists to avenge his fallen brothers. Now on the same hand here you have ed and all who finds out the scar is in the city and decides to handle it, with whinery in toe. Now with this fight, it was one that hits you right in the feels because it's where we see a moment in time, that was frozen for whinery because, up until this point we never knew what happened to her parents and how they lost their lives. 

But it’s here that we see that while Ed has a better understanding of how scar fight’s he’s sti no match for him. So what this fight comes down to is who will pass judgement and who will take on that judgement? As we well know it’s neither who takes the judgement. But by the time we get here, we’re gripped on the edge of our seats, wondering what will happen.

 

3. Al vs pride

 

Now this fight is a fan favorite across all boards. This fight is one of the best, because of two things. One Al being forced to take the very thing he swore to never take, while also not having any real choice but to take it. You see at this point in the story, Al's body has been rejecting the blood seal his brother put in place years ago. He knows he can’t go on for too much longer, so it’s either use the one thing he knows he can’t go on without, or die here to pride.

This fight lasts longer than the others and rightfully so. It goes without saying that it’s an all or nothing fight. With quick fast pacing action, quick thinking and everything on the line. This fight really comes down to who can out last the other. While al can keep his cool, it doesn’t take much to set off pride and because of this al has to keep his cool. Otherwise more people than just him will be in danger.

 

2. Gen Armstrong Vs Sloth

 

Now with this fight, I mean what more could you even ask for. Two of the strongest people in the show together in one fight, like one time and in that moment everything seems perfect. You have the banter, great fighting and all around the second greatest fight in the show. But what makes this such an amazing knockout fight is the story around it. At this point the city is at war, Bradley is dead (or so we think) and sloth is at the head of the attacks. Now when it comes to this fight, life is all in shambles. 

This fight is one of my favorites because all hope seems lost, there’s this major unstoppable force and then with a second wind of hope alex and olivia come back together with some help and are able to end the life of sloth and bring about peace to the land for the time being that is.

 

1.  Mustang vs Envy

 

And now the moment we’ve all been waiting for. We have hit the final point, My number one top pick of this list. Mustang Vs Envy. Now remember what I said earlier, about how mustang started his descent into madness after fighting lust? Well, Now he’s face to face with the person who took his best friend away from him. The person who caused a family to be without a father and the one who took away his right hand man. 

Mustang is now facing envy. And in this moment all the hurt, all the anger, all the rage. Everything is running through Mustang's mind. All of the pain, all of his hopes, all the feelings he's held in for so long have now reached the service and have tipped the scales over into pure madness. So now Mustang has come face to face with himself and his inner feelings. All he sees is rage, all he sees is the person who took his friend. All he sees is the man he wants to burn alive. All the emotions that fill your heart as the viewer. From the song being used, to the dialog and everything in between. This fight is absolutely perfect from start to finish. Because Mustang has the chance to get his revenge. He finally has the chance to not only avenge the scars people. But he gets to finally fix the hole in his heart that may have left when he died. But should he fix this hole in his heart, he will lose the very thing he strived so hard to keep. Himself. And because of that, this fight is my absolute favorite fight.

And there you have it the Top 10 best fights of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood of All Time.

I will def have to agree with the Mustagin vs Lust, Mustaing vs Envy, but Wrath vs anyone that he went against were the fightst that had me sitting on the edge of my seat. Though any of the Ed vs Ling or even Ed vs Greed Ling are also in my top fave fights.
