[Top 5] Terraria Best Boots And How To Get Them

Those boots will help you run like a bat out of hell.

Your gonna be running from a lot of enemies, especially when you start, might as well make sure you have the right boots for the job.

While Terraria has hundreds of accessories, one of the most important ones to consider as you progress is boots. Unless you're playing with cheat sheet mods or you’re in Journey mode, the boot accessories will aid you in platforming and navigation the most. My list will be based on a couple of things; difficulty to obtain, general usefulness, and longevity. As with most equipment in this game, you will have to consider just how hard it is to grind for things as well as how fast the item gets outclassed. While Terraria is a game that’s easy to learn and difficult to master, I hope this guide on boots will help you conquer the challenges ahead.

5: Ice Skates

(Ice won't take me down, now watch me do a triple spin.)

When you begin exploring the frozen biomes in a new world, Ice skates are one of the first accessories you’ll most likely find in a frozen chest and I feel they are severely underappreciated. Not only do they help you accelerate on all ice blocks in the game, but they also prevent thin ice over bodies of water in the frozen biome from breaking. Some people may even enjoy mapping out the underground areas of the frozen biomes first as they’re exploring for materials first. The ability to stand on thin ice even if you fall on it will save you from a lot of accidental drowning deaths. While this item won’t last long in an equipment slot once you pick up other ways to navigate the underground, it will definitely help you take risks during the beginning of your game.

What’s great about this item?

  • While it is only found in chests, its rarity is pretty low so you’ll usually find it within your first few frozen chests.
  • The ability to avoid shattering thin ice will be a lifesaver!

4: Shoe Spikes

(It wont make you spiderman, but it will save your butt more times then you think it will!)

While this isn’t a main boot accessory, this item can get you through a lot of the early platforming hurdles in the game as you explore. It allows you to grip onto any wall in the game and slowly slide down the wall. You can also essentially wall jump by jumping and regripping onto a wall which will help you with early exploration. Once you get the goblin tinkerer NPC you can combine this accessory with climbing claws to make the tiger climbing gear. Which allows you to completely stop and hang onto a wall. While this accessory won’t last long, it shouldn’t be underestimated, especially when you're trying to get hard to reach materials underground.

What’s great about this item?

  • Great for climbing up cliffs and walls.
  • Relatively easy to obtain from gold chests found underground.

3: Rocket boots

(Excuse me, my people need me.)

Once you get the goblin tinkerer NPC, you can purchase rocket boots to equip. One of the first versatile boots that you will stick with for a longer period of time. By holding the spacebar you can fly for approximately 1-2 seconds. Once your flight time is out, it will be instantly recharged once you land on the ground again. Another handy thing about these boots is if you decide to activate your flight before you hit the ground you’ll take no fall damage. These boots will open a lot of movement options for you once you get them. They also can be combined with other accessories later down the line that will further increase movement options. Nothing will be beyond your reach once you get the rocket boots.

What’s great about this item?

  • Great versatility; not only does it pair well with other accessories, but the rocket boots are also a crafting material for a better pair of boots down the line.
  • If your luck is particularly bad in your current world, once you get this item you won’t feel the need for other earlier accessories that could have helped you navigate more easily.

2: The Lava Waders.

(Lava ain't got nothing on me!)

One of the biggest pains in Terraria, when you’re first starting, is navigating through lava. The Lava Waders are one of the best accessories to deal with lava in the early game or if you're having trouble obtaining Obsidian Skin potions. These boots combine the effects of several accessories in the game. Not only can you walk on top of lava without taking damage, but this accessory also gives you 7 seconds of immunity from damage swimming in lava. The one major drawback is that the accessories you need to obtain to make these boots are all pretty rare, only one item, the obsidian skull can be crafted from an easy to obtain material. By the time you get everything, you need to craft it, most likely you’ll either have a way to make obsidian skin potions or you’ll be at a point in the game where you won’t need them. However, if you’re lucky enough to get all the items you’ll need, I highly suggest making them. These boots will make navigating the underworld so much easier.

What’s great about this item?

  • This accessory combines several accessories that deal with fire blocks and lava
  • Definitely useful when you're mining hellfire ore and you're having trouble getting obsidian skin potions.

1: TerraSpark Boots

(I'll take all the boots please!)

Terraspark boots are hands down one of the best accessories in the game that will most likely stay with you throughout your entire adventure. They combine the effects of every single boot in the game. Even when you get into crafting wings and other movement accessories, you won’t regret taking the time to grind for all the movement accessories you’ll need to make these boots. It always feels amazing making these bad boys and if you're lucky, you can obtain them before you enter hard mode in your world. I hope you get to experience this item in your game. Good luck with your Terraria adventure.

What’s great about this item?

  • Combines the effects of every boot item in the game. You'll get a lot of use out of it.

These are my top 5 Terraria boots and I hope you enjoyed it! Best of luck on your next adventure in Terraria and Happy Crafting.
