[Top 10] Terraria Best Arrows and How to Get Them

Best arrows in Terraria
This player may need a better bow...

Terraria has a little something for everyone. If you’re the type of player who likes to walk the path of the archer, then this game has got you covered. There are a plethora of bows and arrows to choose from so you can become a formidable force of ranged prowess in the likes of Legolas or Robin Hood.

Take a look at some of the best arrows available for the bows in Terraria, and why they’re awesome!

10. Flaming Arrow

Don’t underestimate the humble Flaming Arrow. Accessible almost immediately after beginning the game, these arrows are lower on the damage scale but can be very reliable if used in the right bow. They are easy to craft and deal fire damage on impact, and can sometimes be recovered after use. Due to their ease of accessibility, these arrows are great for fighting early bosses. Just try not to set your house on fire…

Flaming Arrow stats:

  • Damage: 7
  • Knockback: 2
  • Causes On Fire! debuff and damages enemies over time

How to get Flaming Arrows:

  • Flaming Arrows are the easiest arrow to obtain: ten Flaming Arrows require only a single torch and ten Wooden Arrows.
  • Wooden arrows can either be crafted from wood and stone, taken from zombies, or purchased from the Merchant NPC.

9. Unholy Arrow

The Unholy Arrow is similar to the Jester’s Arrow in that it pierces enemies. It is not quite as strong, but it is decent for early gameplay. The Unholy Arrow can pierce up to five enemies at a time, making it great for crowd control.

Unholy Arrow stats:

  • Damage: 12
  • Knockback: 3 (very weak)
  • Pierces enemies

How to get Unholy Arrows:

  • Unholy Arrows can either be crafted with 5 Wooden Arrows and a Worm Tooth or they can be purchased from the Arms Dealer after the Eater of Worlds/Brain of Cthulhu has been defeated.

8. Jester’s Arrow

Jester’s Arrows are an upgrade to Unholy Arrows and can pierce an unlimited number of enemies. They are very powerful in pre-Hardmode and are a great choice for fighting early bosses. As an added bonus, these arrows also emit light when they are fired.

Jester's Arrow stats:

  • Damage: 10
  • Knockback: 4 (weak)
  • Pierces enemies
  • Emits light

How to get Jester's Arrows:

  • Jester’s Arrows are very easy to obtain. Simply combine 1 Fallen Star and 20 Wooden Arrows to create 20 Jester’s Arrows.

7. Hellfire Arrow

Hellfire Arrows are quite powerful despite being easy to obtain. They are very fast and create a small explosion when they make contact with their target. These arrows can be useful at any stage of the game, particularly pre-Hardmode. The arrow’s area of effect damage is very useful against enemies with multiple hitboxes or bosses like the Eater of Worlds and The Destroyer.

Hellfire Arrow stats:

  • Damage: 13
  • Knockback: 8 (very strong)
  • Creates an explosion on impact
  • High velocity

How to get Hellfire Arrows:

  • Hellfire Arrows can either be crafted with 1 Hellstone Bar and 100 Wooden Arrows, bought from the Demolitionist, found in pots and Shadow Chests in the Underworld, or looted from the Wall of Flesh.

6. Holy Arrow

Holy Arrows contain the power of the divine and summon fallen stars when they hit their target. These arrows are immediately accessible and Hardmode and are fairly easy to craft. Don’t underestimate their low damage - the stars make up for that.

Holy Arrow stats:

  • Damage: 13
  • Knockback: 2 (very weak)
  • Summons falling stars to destroy enemies

How to get Holy Arrows:

  • Holy Arrows are crafted with two materials found on the surface of the Hallowed Biome and Wooden Arrows: 1 Unicorn Horn, 3 Pixie Dust, and 200 Wooden Arrows.
  • Combine all these materials at a Mythril or Orichalcum Anvil to craft 200 Holy Arrows.

5. Ichor Arrow

These arrows are roughly the Crimson equivalent to Unholy Arrows, though they place special debuff on enemies that significantly lowers their defense. While the damage itself is nothing exceptional, the target’s lowered defense makes up for that.

Ichor Arrow stats:

  • Damage: 16
  • Knockback: 3 (very weak)
  • Applies Ichor debuff

How to get Ichor Arrows:

  • If your world has a Crimson biome, simply Ichor Stickers or Tainted Ghouls to obtain Ichor.
  • Combine one Ichor with 150 Wooden Arrows to craft 150 Ichor Arrows.

4. Venom Arrow

Venom Arrows are the perfect choice for the assassin. These arrows are tipped with a deadly poison that eats away at enemies over time.

Venom Arrow stats:

  • Damage: 17
  • Knockback: 4.2 (average)
  • Causes Venom debuff, poisoning their target

How to get Venom Arrows:

  • Venom Arrows can be crafted with one Vial of Venom and 35 Wooden Arrows at a Mythril/Orichalcum Anvil.
  • You can purchase Vials of Venom from the Witch Doctor NPC, who appears in your world after you defeat the Queen Bee boss.

3. Cursed Arrow

Cursed Arrows are a powerful upgrade to the simple Flaming Arrow. They contain the power of Cursed Flames, an unholy fire born in the Corruption. They inflict respectable damage and their flames burn even underwater.

Cursed Arrow stats:

  • Damage: 17
  • Knockback: 3 (very weak)
  • Causes Cursed Inferno debuff, damaging enemies over time

How to get Cursed Arrows:

  • Cursed Arrows can only be created in a world with a Corruption biome.
  • The first ingredient, Cursed Flame, can be obtained from Clingers, Vile Ghouls, or World Feeders in the underground Corruption. You will need one of these and 150 Wooden Arrows to craft 150 Cursed Arrows.

2. Chlorophyte Arrow

Chlorophyte Arrows are possibly the second best arrows in the game. They are able to ricochet off of surfaces and pierce enemies, making them very useful in tight spaces and against crowds. They have respectable damage and are relatively easy to craft.

Chlorophyte Arrow stats:

  • Damage: 16
  • Knockback: 3.5 (weak)
  • Ricochets and pierces enemies

How to get Chlorophyte Arrows:

  • You can craft 150 Chlorophyte Arrows with 1 Chlorophyte Bar at a Mythril or Orichalcum Anvil.
  • Chlorophyte can be mined in the underground Jungle after defeating all three mechanical bosses in Hardmode.

1. Luminite Arrow

Luminite Arrows are indisputably the best arrows in the game. The arrows themselves are quite good with decent damage and piercing capabilities, but their special effect is what sets them apart from other arrows. After firing a Luminite Arrow, a second beam will immediately follow it, leading to some crazy damage output if used with the right bow. Pair these with the Phantasm and you’ll be unstoppable.

Luminite Arrow stats:

  • Damage: 15
  • Knockback: 3.5 (weak)
  • Very fast speed
  • Shoots a beam after each arrow

How to get Luminite Arrows:

  • The first step is to Defeat Moon Lord. This can be done by defeating the Lunatic Cultist boss (accessible after defeating Golem) and destroying all four alien pillars that invade your world.
  • After slaying Moon Lord, craft 333 Luminite Arrows with 1 Luminite Bar at the Ancient Manipulator dropped by the Cultist. A full stack of these arrows can be crafted with only three Luminite Bars.

Hopefully, this list has been helpful to you, Terrarians. Try out some of these arrows and slay the evil that plagues Terraria!
