8. Slender: The 8 Pages (2012)

 

Developed and published by Parsec Productions for Microsoft Windows and OS X, players must collect eight pages posted around a creepy forest while avoiding the stalking Slender Man. If white noise takes over the monitor, the mysterious figure is closing in. 

Why are we collecting the pages? Not sure. Who or what is the Slender Man? He may be a demon, I don’t know. Why is he chasing us? I have many theories but it doesn’t matter when he catches us. 

Out of all the games on this list, Slender: The 8 Pages is the most minimal in story and objective but has the highest horror intensity and a great scare when losing. Players are equipped with a flashlight that will run out of juice, so use it wisely because we can’t fight back.
