[Top 10] Skyrim Best Mods for Mages

Skyrim Best Mods for Mages, Skyrim Best Mage Mods
Don't cross paths (or staffs) with this mage.

Imagine dedicating your life to magic and only learning a handful of spells.

Magic in Skyrim has a lot of potential, but with all the quests to get the biggest and deadliest weapons, it’s often overlooked. However, some people create mage characters and are underwhelmed by the number of spells or disappointed by some other aspect. With these mods, you’ll be the best mage in Skyrim.

8. Ordinator- Perks of Skyrim

This updated perks system will make your character more powerful than ever.

Ordinator is not a mod that is strictly for mages, it overhauls the entire perk system. The perk tree improvements with Ordinator make it essential for this list. This mod is sure to improve your experience as a mage.

Features:

  • 469 brand new perks, with a ton of them covering all schools of magic
  • All perks are lore-friendly and fit easily into even the most vanilla game, but they are very unique and add a lot to the game

7. No BS AI Projectile Dodge

Use your most powerful spells like this mage with more accurate aiming than ever before.

This is a very lightweight, script-free mod that will make a huge difference to your game. Enemies in Skyrim are just simply too good at dodging your spells and arrows. When you’ve been hiding in the corner trying to line up the perfect shot while your enemies are clueless, there’s no reason they should be able to dodge it at the last second.

Features:

  • Especially great for mages, since most of your attacks are going to be projectile based
  • This will make your game more immersive, as none of your enemies should seem like they have eyes on the back of their head
  • Combat will feel a lot more balanced, less frustrating, and that much more rewarding when you line up a sneak attack

6. Calling of the Conjurer

A look into the brand new magic store that is included with this mod for all your Conjuration needs.

This mod has a huge focus on the Conjuration school of magic, which is often lacking in the vanilla game. This mod will add a ton to your game, and won’t feel out of place at the same time. This mod doesn’t change any vanilla assets so it’s largely compatible with other mods.

Features:

  • 206 new Conjuration spells for summoning, including 17 new army spells
  • An entirely new magic shop owned by Alathar, located in the Western Watchtower
  • This mod will make Conjuration feel much more powerful, and the animals you can summon are great if you’re playing a Druid-like character

5. Forgotten Magic Redone

Use all-new spells and conquer the world around you like this mage.

A few of the mods we’ll cover later in this list add many new spells, which some can find overwhelming. If you’re looking to master all of your spells, Forgotten Magic takes a different approach. This mod will help you feel like your character truly is improving as a skilled mage as opposed to just buying new spells.

Features:

  • 39 new spells added to the game, with a unique system giving each spells 10 possible improvements, 390 improvements in total
  • In-game MCM menus showing you your experience, and which improvements you’ve chosen for each spell as well as other details

4. Arcanum- A New Age of Magic

One of many beautiful new spells added in this mod being used by a mysterious character.

As I just mentioned, some of the mods in this list add a bunch of new spells. Arcanum does this, but it takes a completely different approach. Still being updated to this day with more spells planned to be added with each update. This mod has been years in the making and is by far one the most ambitious mods I have seen. If you’ve never been too fond of magic in Skyrim, give this mod a try before you call it quits on your mage.

Features:

  • Over 200 spells complete, and the mod creator plans for it to have 300+
  • Insane visual effects that still feel lore-friendly enough for the game
  • Changes to spells and spell-crafting

3. Mysticism- A Magic Overhaul

Enemies don't stand a chance against this cloaked mage armed with 200+ new spells.

Mysticism is truly an overhaul for the magic in Skyrim. Not only does it add a ton of new spells, but it also works to fix bugs with the vanilla spells. You can never go wrong with more spells, and you’ll never get bored of the same few spells as you might with the vanilla game. The best thing about these mod packs is that they are adding new items, so these spell packs are compatible together to give you as many spells as you wish.

Features:

  • Balance adjustments and bug fixes to vanilla spells
  • 200+ new spells seamlessly put into the game, available for purchase from vendors or to loot from various dungeons

2. Summermyst- Enchantments of Skyrim

A small look at two of the new enchantments this mod has to offer.

Enchanting is very important for mages, so wouldn’t it be great if there were more enchantments than originally come with the game? This mod is balanced and immersive while adding plenty to the game. The new enchantments will fit right in with the existing ones, and you’ll have plenty of new opportunities to enchant new gear for your mage.

1. Apocalypse: Magic of Skyrim

A look into the incredible visuals that the spells in this mod have to offer.

Apocalypse: Magic of Skyrim is probably the most well known and widely used mods in Skyrim. As far as magic mods go, this is typically the go-to for a lot of players. I didn’t enjoy mage characters that much until I stumbled across this mod. As with the others, this mod can be used along with the others that add new spells to expand your game even further.

Features:

  • 155 brand new spells, with 31 per each school of magic
  • Quality brand new animations make this mod feel like it was always a part of your game
