15 Best RDO Weapons Every Player Should Have (And How To Get Them)

Boom!

If you’re an outlaw in the Wild West, you already know how necessary guns are in the game. No cowboy is complete without a quality gun loaded with power. Choosing the best one is a matter of life and death. It doesn't matter if players are hunting, playing PvP, or taking down NPCs because, at the end of the day, a player with an inferior weapon is bound to get the shorter end of the stick more often than not.

15. Semi-Auto Shotgun

13. Cattleman Revolver

Price: $50
Unlock level: You’ll be given a Cattleman during the prologue

A reliable old friend! 4% of players rely on this revolver. It deals slightly higher damage than the Double-Action revolver. It’s a fairly okay revolver for PvE but you shouldn’t compete in PvP matches wielding one or a couple of these. If you choose to use the Cattleman revolver, you should always dual-wield it. The reload time becomes relatively low when you dual-wield.

12. Sawed-Off Shotgun

Price: $111
Unlock level: 19

A lightweight shotgun that is easy to use and conceal, as many situations in modern times require. The safety and durability and, above all, superior penetration of this fine shotgun cannot be matched. This one’s a freaking sidearm and you can dual-wield, too. FOR THE MAN THAT ENJOYS WIELDING AN HONEST SURPRISE.

11. Carbine Repeater

Price: $90
Unlock level: Unlocked from the start

Just because players start off with this gun in Red Dead Online doesn't indicate in the slightest that this beast should be underestimated. After all, if a cowboy invests time and money into the Carbine Repeater, it can save them a lot of money in the long run.

When paired with Express Ammo or Split Point Ammo, a single headshot can take down even the toughest of players with ease. The fact that so many things in the game can be accomplished with the starter weapon is an indication of just how player-friendly RDO really is.

10. The Mauser Pistol

Price: $600
Unlock level: 34

The Mauser Pistol is based on the German-made Mauser C96 and unlocks at Rank 34. If an outlaw decides to buy this stylish semi-auto sidearm, it comes with a hefty price tag. There are indeed better semi-auto options available. Yet, the Mauser is still a reliable and fast sidearm that is made even more effective by dual-wielding.

The Mauser also pairs well with other weapon combinations like the Sawed-Off Shotgun. This gives players a well-rounded, powerful combo for their sidearm selection, even if it is one of the most expensive in Red Dead Online. In PvP, you can use Mausers because of their high fire rate.

9. Evans Repeater

Price: $300
Unlock level: 1

The Evans Repeater has the highest ammo capacity in Red Dead Online. It can hold 26 rounds at a time. It is also extremely accurate. A minor downside of this weapon is its low damage and reload speed, especially when compared to other weapons in the same category like the popular Lancaster Repeater.

However, the extended ammo capacity kind of nulls this downside. It is extremely useful in PvE but it’s also good for PvP. It might almost seem like you’re never even reloading this bad boy. This is why Evans made our top 3 list beating Litchfield.

8. Rare Shotgun

Price: $258
Unlock level: Unlocked from the start

Handcrafted, elegantly designed, and unique in every way, it will soon become your most cherished possession after the Good Book and faithful dog. Surely those on the business end of it will blush and stammer at the honour of being threatened with such a masterpiece of artistry.

7. The Semi-Automatic Pistol

Price: $537
Unlock level: 22

The Semi-Automatic Pistol has a blazing fast fire rate perfect for pumping your enemies full of lead. However, you can only hold 100 rounds of pistol ammo. The limited ammo sucks but the Semis are good with every ammo type; even regular. With these, you’ll also hip fire faster.

What the Semi-Automatic Pistol is missing in Damage, it makes up for with speed. It is modelled after the Borchardt C-93 Pistol. The Semi-Automatic pistol has the highest fire rate and reloads speed in the game.

6. Carcano Rifle

Price: $456
Unlock level: 50

RIFLE OF CHOICE FOR BOTH HOLY AND UNHOLY AMBITION. It has been said that discretion is the better part of valour, and no more valour is exhibited than that of a man hiding behind a rock and taking out his enemies when they least suspect it. You can find no better rifle than the Carcano Rifle.

5. Improved Bow

Price: $124
Rank unlocked: 10

Not having this on your horse is not an option for an RDO player. From small to massive, anything can be killed with this sneaky badass; except for moderate animals. You need to use small game arrows to kill small animals like frogs and squirrels. Regular arrows are good for medium animals. If you’re hunting large animals you should use poison arrows for a quick and cleaner kill, but the regular arrows would do the job, too. For massive animals, improved arrows are your only choice.

4. LeMat Revolver

Price: $317
Unlock level: 1

The LeMat is an extremely versatile revolver even though it got 24% votes on average. Both the LeMat and the Navy revolver deserve the top rank on this list. The best part about this gun is that it has an under-barrel shotgun attachment. It has the slowest reload time but the increased ammo capacity makes up for it. It holds 9 bullets whereas other revolvers only hold 6. Even if you run out of bullets, you can always use shotgun shells that the under-barrel attachment holds. It can only hold one shell at a time. It’s good for both PvP and PvE but we recommend you use it, especially for PvE.

3. Navy revolver

Price: $275
Unlock level: 1

Well, The community announces this beast as the top revolver in RDO. So, how can we not put this in the number one position? It earns about 58% of votes on average. It’s the deadliest revolver in the game as it deals the most amount of damage. It has a relatively slow reload speed but it matters less when you can kill a guy with 3 shots even if you aim blindly. Even though it’s the most accurate revolver in the game, it costs less than the LeMat. This one will always give you an edge in PvP.

2. Bolt-Action Rifle

1. Lancaster Repeater

Price: $135
Unlock Level: 12

Without a doubt, Litchfield is the best on paper but the Lancaster is the real answer. It deals high damage, snaps on target really quickly, and you can cycle this beast so fast you might just think that it’s semi-auto. The Lancaster Repeater is considered by most veteran players as one of the most versatile guns in the Wild West. With this repeater, you can hunt anything from Timber Wolves to wild ducks just by simply changing ammo.

The Lancaster Repeater’s ammo capacity and reload speed make this weapon perfect for taking on a multitude of enemies at once. Express Ammo is ideal to pair with the Lancaster Repeater, which can turn this weapon into a force to be reckoned with in battle and one of the best weapons to carry around in the Wild West.
