[Top 5] Hearthstone Best Demon Hunter Decks For The Current Meta

Embodying the rage of ten thousand years!

Ever since its inception, Demon Hunter has always prided itself as a class devoted to battle.

The aggressiveness even goes to the extent of trading health just to get an attack in with the hero power. As such, Hearthstone’s 10th class quickly became a fan favorite by bloodthirsty aggro deck players.

Looking back, Demon Hunter has changed significantly since its release. Going from being hotfixed due to being too overpowered on release to now having the Relic archetype, perhaps it’s time to revisit and assess how this class is doing so far. Here are the top 5 Demon Hunter decks for Hearthstone’s current meta.

5. Big Demon Hunter

No one ever expects the Illidari Inquisition

As with all big minion decks, Big Demon Hunter relies on discounting or straight-up cheating out your high mana cost cards. Surviving the first few turns should not be a challenge as you have plenty of early-game power from the Relic package.

This deck also features disruption tools such as Theotar and Sylvanas, the Accused to counter those pesky combo decks. However, the bulk of this deck’s power still lies on your big demons, mostly Illidari Inquisitor being revived repeatedly to wreak havoc on your opponent’s board.

What’s great about this deck:

  • Fast scaling: Vanndar makes it possible to summon your big demons very early on without using up temporary discount cards
  • Guaranteed revivals: The limited number of demons guarantees that only a few selected minions are resurrected when using All Fel Breaks Loose
  • Infuse Stackers: Sire Denathrius can be infused using the tokens from Onyxia and Relic of Phantasms for an alternate win condition

Cards:

  • 2x (1) Sigil of Alacrity
  • 2x (1) Relic of Extinction
  • 2x (2) Relic Vault
  • 2x (2) Fel Barrage
  • 2x (3) Relic of Phantasms

4. Deathrattle Demon Hunter

Tried intermittent fasting. It didn't stick.

Deathrattle Demon Hunter opts into taking another path in cheating out minions from the deck. Don’t be fooled by the big legendary minions present as this is and should be played as a midrange/tempo deck.

In general, you would want to chain out your Deathrattle effects to establish a board advantage to either overwhelm your opponent or draw your bigger minions such as Death Speaker Blackthorn.

Play this deck enough and you will quickly realize that it’s all Deathrattle minions all the way down.

What’s great about this deck:

  • Kryxis the Voracious: This card is a very good early/midgame threat as it can be summoned with Razorfen Beastmaster
  • Minion discount: Kael’thas with Relic of Dimensions can allow you to play an overwhelming number of minions in one turn
  • Card draw: This deck has a lot of card draw engines with the Relic package and Kryxis leading the pack

Cards:

  • 2x (1) Tuskpiercer
  • 2x (1) Sigil of Alacrity
  • 2x (1) Relic of Extinction
  • 2x (2) Relic Vault

3. Relic Demon Hunter

"The anticipation to use this relic is killing me! Though, it will more likely kill you.”

The Relic package has become a staple in all current Demon Hunter decks, and it’s not hard to see why. Consisting of cards that ramp up very well into the late game, the three Relic cards are very impactful at all stages of the game.

When against aggro, you want to utilize the clearing spells available such as Relic of Extinction and Fel Barrage. School Teacher will also be a crucial card to draw as it can fetch you more anti-aggro spells. If you are facing control decks, multiple win conditions are at your disposal including Sire Denathrius and The Jailer for those games that go the distance.

What’s great about this deck:

  • Board pressure: Well-balanced mana curve easily generates advantages through playing your cards on-curve
  • Board clear: Multiple spells clear smaller minions so you can contend and outlast aggressive decks
  • Denathrius OTK: If all other win conditions are disrupted, a discounted Brann + Denathrius combo can still net you a victory

Cards:

  • 2x (1) Sigil of Alacrity
  • 2x (1) Relic of Extinction
  • 2x (2) Relic Vault
  • 1x (2) Fel Barrage
  • 2x (2) Chaos Strike
  • 2x (3) Venomous Scorpid
  • 2x (3) Relic of Phantasms

2. Fel Demon Hunter

As a former mage, making the transition from fire to felfire was quite easy.

Embrace the power of Fel magic with this deck and use your cards to hunt those detestable demons down. Jace Darkweaver acts as the crutch and primary win condition of this deck along with all the tempo-based Fel spells. A little bit of hero power synergy also exists, so keep pressing that button every turn.

In terms of late-game insurances, Xhilag of the Abyss and the Relic synergy are there to put out the fire for you but only temporarily, so make sure to close out your games quickly.

What’s great about this deck:

  • Overbearing tempo: The low-cost Fel spells such as Fury and Chaos Strike can lead to a lot of face damage for your enemy, forcing them to play passively so your Jace can accumulate more spells
  • Naga synergy: The Naga synergy led by Lady S’theno provides some much-needed value so you do not run out of threats
  • Burst damage: Jace recasts all Fel spells, which leads to a lot of damage for you to swing against the opponent’s face

Cards:

  • 2x (1) Sigil of Alacrity
  • 2x (1) Relic of Extinction
  • 2x (1) Fury (Rank 1)
  • 2x (2) Relic Vault
  • 2x (2) Fel Barrage
  • 2x (2) Chaos Strike
  • 2x (3) Venomous Scorpid
  • 2x (3) Relic of Phantasms
  • 2x (3) Predation
  • 1x (3) Lady S'theno

1. Aggro Demon Hunter

Always wanted to be the green ranger.

Aggro has always been Demon Hunter’s trademark and it seems like that trend won’t anytime soon. One unique strength of this deck is its ability to trade against tokens using the hero power, putting you at a board advantage compared to other aggressive decks.

In every turn, your goal should be to play as many cards as possible and bring your enemy’s HP closer to zero using your cheap spells and minions. There’s no need to worry about running out of fuel because draw tools such as Magnifying are there to ensure that you can continue the pressure suitable for the title Aggro Demon Hunter.

What’s great about this deck:

  • Hero Power synergy: This deck is built to synergize with your hero power with all the weapons and spells that grant additional attack
  • Efficient stats: Bibliomite and Metamorfin are really strong early-game cards due to their high attack
  • Lady S’theno: This minion gets its effect triggered frequently thanks to the many low-cost spells present in the deck

Cards:

  • 2x (0) Dispose of Evidence
  • 2x (1) Vicious Slitherspear
  • 2x (1) Metamorfin
  • 2x (1) Fury (Rank 1)
  • 2x (1) Dreadprison Glaive
  • 2x (2) Multi-Strike
  • 2x (2) Fossil Fanatic
