Assassination techniques are incredibly good in this game, giving you epic killing scenes when an enemy doesn’t notice you.

7. Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice gameplay

You play the role of Senua, a Pict warrior that will make a life-endangering journey in order to save the soul of Dillion, her dead lover, from the claws of Hela, goddess of Hel.

Taking place during the late 8th century, this fierce and determined warrior will have to fight everything that surrounds her in this fascinating Viking setting. During the whole game, Senua will be constantly facing her greatest enemy: the ravings and voices of her own mind, who will try to trick her into making mistakes and failing her quests.

What Makes Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice Awesome:

  • Permadeath is actually possible
  • Stories of actual Norse mythology dropped during the game
  • Actual scientists were consulted for the hallucination and madness effects

Senua’s hallucinations are one of the most interesting aspects of this game, making her not a very typical main character. From time to time, the madness from these scenes can get to be excruciatingly intimidating.
