The Bard’s Tale is a top down, single player action-adventure game. You become a roguish character in a humorous satire of fantasy role playing games, and you have your own narrator. Journey on an anti-hero’s quest, bed lots of wenches, and save the world in one of the funniest RPGs out there. If you enjoyed the sarcasm, satire and humor of the Monkey Island games, you’ll like this one.

The Bard’s Tale was followed by The Mage's Tale and The Bard's Tale IV: Barrows Deep, and the three of them were remastered in 2018.

Humor can really save a game, and it’s probably what sets The Bard’s Tale apart.

With many more sequels in the game series, the original Bard's Tale has become a classic.
