[Top 15] Best RPGs for Android (Ranked Fun To Most Fun)

Best RPGs for Android
KOTOR is a timeless gem for RPG lovers.

Which RPG on Android is the most fun to play?

RPG is one of Android's most popular genres in terms of its gaming library that you can play on most android devices. Some of the best RPGs you can play are free, while others have a premium price that is worth the content as you will probably get 40 hours or more playtime without encountering any ads all throughout your playthrough.

If you are looking for an RPG without a specific subgenre, then here are 15 games you definitely need to check out.

15. Summoners War

Summoners War is one of the longest active freemium RPGs on Android. Released in 2014, there is a lot of content for new players and veterans of the game.

It is a turn-based RPG combat where you can also collect, upgrade, and evolve the monsters you collect in your journey. It is one of the pioneers of gacha mechanics that we know today. There are multiple attributes, and there are around 1000 monsters you can collect.

You can raid with up to three of your friends to get great loot and fight powerful bosses. If you want to get a little bit competitive, Summoners War also has a PvP mode.

14. Raid: Shadow Legends

If you love watching YouTube, you probably come across Raid: Shadow Legends as it is the most known game to be advertised by several YouTubers, especially back in 2019.

Similar to Summoners War, it is a freemium game, and it has a turn-based combat system. You can unlock your champions by summoning them, thus, it has a gacha system as well. They boast to have more than 650 warriors you can collect, so you can create some powerful and amazing cast of warriors for your team. Moreover, the details on the visuals for Raid: Shadow Legends are quite amazing for a mobile gacha game, to be honest.

You can do campaigns, as well as PvP multiplayer. If you want to play it casually, you can autoplay levels to spend less time grinding.

13. Cyberika: Action Cyberpunk RPG

A cyberpunk-themed action RPG may sound great in Android, and it does as Cyberika is a good game for those looking for a futuristic and action-packed free RPG in their library.

There are lots of quests in Cyberika, and you can customize your characters and upgrade them to their full potential. The combat system is satisfying considering it is an action RPG, and your weapons break down as you use them, and it also needs resources to be repaired. Upgrade your home so you can craft better items.

Lastly, you can play co-op raids with other players or with your friends, and you can also join clan wars to get better items and fight intense battles.

12. The Banner Saga/The Banner Saga 2

The Banner Saga series is a simulation-survival strategy RPG that is heavily inspired by Norse mythology.

It has tons of replayability as it is a choice-driven game, and each choice may affect the game entirely. Your saves from the first game will also be transferred to the second game, and you can also transfer them on PC as well if you are planning to play the third game.

One aspect of The Banner Saga gameplay is helping your caravan reach its destination, which means you need to forage for food and make tough decisions for your caravan to survive. The other aspect is its strategy RPG combat system, which is a ton of fun to play, but also very challenging as it tries to formulate a new system in its own ways such as having both armor and health, and your health defines your attack power.

As mentioned above, the developers decided not to port their third game (the last game in the trilogy) for Android, which is disappointing, but they gave ways for you to port your save to PC in case you want to finish the trilogy story because it is worth completing, to say the least.

11. Exiled Kingdoms

Exiled Kingdoms is both a free game and a premium game. If you want to enjoy the full game, you must purchase the full version. However, I highly believe that it is worthy of its price tag, which includes more than 100 areas, around 100 quests, and hundreds of hours of content.

It is a solid RPG that even PC gamers are enjoying the game on Steam. The game is quite challenging considering you will not be able to save while you are exploring dungeons. As you increase your stats such as intelligence, more dialogue options will be unlocked, which can help you in your adventure.

You are able to customize your character with your own playstyle as there are 70 skills and hundreds of items to find in Exiled Kingdoms.

10. AnimA ARPG

AnimA ARPG is a game heavily inspired by classic Diablo games, and they manage to hit every checkbox correctly in creating a great action RPG for Android.

What is amazing about this game is that it is free, and it does not have any predatory in-app purchases so everyone can enjoy the game without having to purchase anything. It is a fast-paced game with a dark fantasy theme that is immersive. You can level up and assign attributes to your character’s stats.

As you progress in the game, you can unlock skills so you can get an advantage over your enemies throughout your journey. There will be tons of loot with a variety of rarities that you can use or infuse to create a better weapon.

9. Eternium

Eternium is another game that takes inspiration from the classic Diablo games and has been around since 2014. They state that 90% of their players have not spent anything on their game and, thus, it can be played fully without purchasing something on their in-app store.

You can play as Mage, Warrior, or bounty hunter. Each has its own abilities and skill tree. You can level up and increase your stats as well. The game has great loot as you explore each location in Eternium, which can be played in the four acts of the game, or if you want more challenge, the Trials of Valor, which is mostly random generated levels.

As you play the game, you will encounter AI companions as well that can help you in your journey. The end game is fantastic as well, as they have what is called Champions Level, which is unlimited levels and can be inherited by your new heroes.

8. Battle Chasers: Nightwar

Battle Chasers: Nightwar is a turn-based RPG with a rich story, unique visuals, and immersive lore.

The game has a mixture of steampunk and fantasy elements to it, which is perfectly blended with its amazing art style. There are up to five heroes that you will meet and will join your party, and each of them has their own equipment that you need to craft, which makes exploration a must if you want to get better gears.

There are several dungeons that you can explore along the way, and some of them are even randomly generated dungeons, which means looting will not be repetitive, and more rewarding as you complete harder dungeons.

7. Old School RuneScape

RuneScape is a decades-old MMORPG that is surprisingly still alive and works very well in mobile with their Old School RuneScape android version.

It features cross-platform, which makes your account playable on both desktop and mobile, so everything can be played on the go. It is still free-to-play but subscribing to the game gives perks with additional skills, more quests, and other subscriber-only features.. You will create your own story in RuneScape, and with hundreds of quests available, it will not get boring for a long time.

Of course, an MMORPG will never last without being community-oriented, and Old School RuneScape is one of the best out there considering they listen to the community by creating polls on which new content should be prioritized and released by the developers.

6. Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition

Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition is a remastered version of a classic computer RPG (CRPG) that was very popular in the 2000s.

The game follows the 2nd Edition Advanced D&D rule set, and its main storyline takes around 50 hours to complete, while completing the side quests as well may take around hundreds of hours to fully complete the game. You may recruit certain NPCs, and each has its own personality, and they sometimes create sequences of dialogues that make the game quite immersive.

You create your own character, select a specific class, level up by completing quests or killing enemies, and your party has a reputation system, which is vital depending on the choices you made in the game, and it may lead to other unprecedented events.

5. Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley is a simulation RPG, as it is focused on farming and creating your own story with the people you interact with every day in the game.

You can choose which farm you will transform into a lively one. You can raise animals such as chickens and cows, and you can also grow multiple crops that are suitable for the season. Moreover, you can explore caves, find treasures, and encounter monsters within it.

Stardew Valley has a courting system, which means you can actually date people, and eventually marry someone in the game so you can start a family.

It is your own farm, your own story, so each playthrough can be different depending on you.

4. Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact has been one of the biggest android RPGs for the past years. It won several awards such as being the Best Game of the Year back in 2020, and Best RPG and Best Mobile Game at The Game Awards 2020.

It has a massive world you can explore, and they add more story and quest lines over time, which means more characters and raids for new and veteran players. The gacha system also has a pity system so you have a higher chance of getting higher rank characters.

You can build your own team so you can interchange with them to create your powerful combos against enemies. You can also do raids with your friends and anyone in the world to achieve greater rewards.

3. Cat Quest

Cat Quest is a game for cat lovers for sure! It is an open-world adventure RPG where you fight monsters and beasts as you journey to save your sister. It also won several indie game awards when it was released back in 2016.

It is an action-packed game with cute visuals, and you explore a well-created world with a linear story, but with over 60 side quests. There are several caves that you can explore and find loot to become more powerful. Grinding for loot is very enjoyable, and the cat-related jokes are quite humorous as well.

Unfortunately, the sequel, Cat Quest II, is not yet released on Android as it has improved a lot, and it even has a co-op mode.

2. Titan Quest: Legendary Edition

Titan Quest was the spiritual successor of Diablo 2 back when it was first released in 2006. Although, it has a different premise, which means that it is heavily inspired by Nordic Mythology. However, the gameplay mechanics of the classic Diablo games are very noticeable in this game with its own twist.

The legendary edition of Titan Quest includes all the DLC, even the new ones as well, so it has plenty of content available. As you level up, you can gain EXP that you can use to improve your character. There are several masteries, which is basically a unique skill tree-based upgrade system so your playthrough can be vastly different depending on your playstyle.

This one is a must-have for those who love a Diablo game that is complete and full of content.

1. Star Wars: KOTOR/STAR WARS™: KOTOR II

Star Wars: KOTOR and KOTOR II are great classics of Star Wars games, and it is phenomenal how they ported these two games to Android.

Both games are your typical RPGs where you can create your own character, fight enemies in an action-based combat system, do tons of exploration from different locations, solve puzzles, and increase your characters’ stats.

I highly suggest you play both games as they are directly connected to each other, and they are set before the Original Star Wars trilogy. Thus, the lore surrounding the game revolves around the time when the Sith dominated the galaxy.

Star Wars: KOTOR and Star Wars: KOTOR II were two of the best RPGs of their time, and they are now two of the best RPGs on Android.
