Fighting games are widely considered to be one of the hardest gaming genres to become very good at. There’s a lot of factors you would have to learn about to truly excel in this genre, such as spacing, frame data, footsies, etc. A solid PC build can give a player a technical advantage due to faster performance and higher frames per second. However, that’s no substitute for true skill. If you're a PC gamer and looking for a decent challenge then check these 10 great fighting games below.

10. MultiVersus (Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC)

The thought of Shaggy, Batman and Bugs Bunny fighting each other would never cross anyone’s mind. But it’s possible for these fan favorite characters, and many more, to face each other head on in MultiVersus. Players must duel each other in a traversable arena and force the opposing player off the map. The more damage a player receives, the farther they will be knocked away.

The game is currently in an open beta and will officially release sometime later in 2022. 

9. DNF Duel (Playstation 4, Playstation 5, PC)

DNF Duel is a 2.5D fighting game spin-off of the Dungeon & Fighter series. Developed by Arc System Works, the creators of Guilty Gear and BlazBlue, the game has been designed in a similar style but with simpler gameplay mechanics. For example, featuring simplified inputs to execute combos and skills with greater ease. Another key difference is the addition of the MP bar,  a special skills meter that regenerates over time. Unlike other fighting games where the increase of the meter has to be earned via attacking, defending, countering, etc.

8. Demon Slayer - Kimetsu no Yaibu - The Hinokami Chronicles (Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC)

The smash hit anime series Demon Slayer comes to the hands of gamers now with its first video game adaptation. The game follows the story of Tanjiro as he joins the Demon Slayer Corps in hopes of one day saving his sister. Relive the iconic battles of the anime as you progress through the events of the first season in the story mode. Battle other powerful demon slayers in the online multiplayer or locally.

7. Street Fighter V: Champion Edition (Playstation 4, PC)

This main installment of the iconic Street Fighter franchise is the second best-selling and most newcomer-friendly entry of the series. The feature called the V-Gauge was introduced, this gauge gradually builds as a player receives damage and unleashes a powerful skill.

The game faced much backlash at launch due to its lack of content and technical issues. However, the release of the Champion Edition received more positive response due the vast improvements and loads of additional content and characters.

As a sidenote, Street Fighter 6 has recently been revealed to release in 2023.

Although this game has been called “too hard”, this challenge is essential for the astonishing gameplay and replayability of Sifu. The sifu (master) and his apprentices have been slain by a gang of rivals. The only survivor is a young child who seeks revenge years later. 

Learn a multitude of martial arts techniques on your path of vengeance. If defeated, you will resurrect with the use of a magical talisman and become older by a few years. Your attacks will become more powerful but you will become frailer and your total health drops. If you get too old then you can permanently die, in which you must restart from the very beginning of the stage.

Following the events of Mortal Kombat X, Earthrealm’s fighters have stopped the villainous Shinnok from destroying their world. Influenced by dark energy, Raiden decides to brutally decapitate Shinnok in an attempt to frighten enemies of Earthrealm. This savage act provokes Kronika, a powerful keeper of time and Shinnok’s mother, to rewrite Raiden out of history. This drastic change causes much chaos and the defenders of Earthrealm must unite once again to correct their timeline before it’s too late.

Selling over 9 million copies since it’s release, Tekken 7 has become a huge success with positive reception. The game introduces various new features such as rage art and power crush. The story takes place right after Tekken 6 as it follows a chain of events leading to the inevitable battle between Heihachi and Kazuya. 

As a side note, an animated series called Tekken: Bloodline based on this franchise and will be released on Netflix in August 2022.

Dragon Ball FighterZ has gained much acclaim and a dedicated fanbase due to its thrilling fighting system, visuals and soundtrack. Handpick a team of three iconic characters, each with a unique assist attack, and go against other players in intense, fast-paced battles. As of 2022, over 8 millions copies have been sold.

Following in the footsteps of Super Smash Bros. with it’s own uniqueness, Brawlhalla has quickly claimed its spot as one of the most popular fighting games out right now. The simplicity of the game’s controls allows for any newcomers to jump right into the action. The skill ceiling (how good a player can get) is quite high, allowing for very competitive matches as you continue to level up and get better.
